What do you hope the Hunger Games Movie is like?
Who are some of the actors you hope play the characters?
What scenes do you think need be included in the film, which ones could be left out?

You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.

by Andrea in March 03 - 3:12 pm

I don’t have any idea what I think should be in the movie. All I ask is that they don’t kill the book. When good books are made into movies, they change every thing from my pictures of the characters to the cover of the book. I can’t remember how I first pictured Bella Swan, because after seeing Kristen Stewart play her, that completely changed my image of her. Also, I don’t want any Twilight actors to play major roles, because I won’t be able to think of them as the characters in the Hunger Games. Please don’t kill the book!

by Ailbhe in March 03 - 3:12 pm

I seriously hope that the movie turns out awesome. I don’t want another Eragon xD

In terms of actors, I think they’d have to be unknowns. I can’t think of a single actor who’d be right for Katniss, Peeta or Gale. For the adults, you might get away with some established actors, but for the “trio” I firmly believe that unknowns are the best way to go.

As far as scenes that could be left out… hmm, I can’t really think of any major ones. I’d say some of the scenes of Katniss alone in the arena will be cut just because they’re not very visually exciting or interesting. A lot of scenes will probably be condensed as well, although if Suzanne Collins is writing the script I’m sure she’ll keep as close to the book as possible. In the end though, it’ll probably come down to time constraints.

by BlackRoseOpal in March 03 - 3:16 pm

I hope the Hunger Games movie is like the book, but perhaps in the arena, there could be scenes of other tributes. What I hope will be in the movie is a fight scene between Cato and Thresh, that would be awesome, especially in the rain. It might be short, but it would be epic. Also they should show occasional shots of people back home watching the games like Haymitch hovering over the TV studying Katniss and what she is doing, or Prim and her mother panicing and being glued to the tv when Katniss is in danger like when she is being chased by the fireballs. I think Robert Downey Jr. would make an excellent Haymitch. That’s the only well known actor I can think to be in the movie. They main people should be unknown actors, which is why I really hope they have a nation wide audition tour.
Over all I hope it sticks to the book, but maybe shows a bit more than just Katniss, maybe goes between Peeta and Katniss, and then maybe before she meets up with Rue, show Rue watching Katniss from the trees, no one aware of her presence.

by YAY PEETA in March 03 - 3:32 pm

good Peeta = me happy

by Serenity in March 03 - 3:34 pm

I have this ungodly, albeit reasonable, fear that they will screw the entire movie up. It’s so complex and there’s so much internal dialogue going on in Katniss that can’t be portrayed well through a voice over. There’s a lot that’s thought of and not said, which leaves a lot of open spaces and leeway for the screenwriter to put things. I do pray that the director is well skilled in action movies. As for actor choices, I can’t say much, since I’m not an avid actor/actress follower.

by Andrea in March 03 - 3:38 pm

I totally agree with Serenity and am just so scared that they will change the movie so much. On a happier note though, Suzanne Collins is writing the screen play, so hopefully it won’t be that bad…

by tk in March 03 - 3:44 pm

I hope that the scenes in the movie will be as much like they are in the book as possible.

by Maggie in March 03 - 3:49 pm

I hope that they won’t screw up the movie, if the cut out Rue’s death I will freak. My only preferences for actors is that Katniss is someone who iis undiscovered, same with Gale, I picture William Moseley as Peeta and I think either Alan Rickman or Johnny Depp would make a very good Haymitch.

by Sean in March 03 - 4:05 pm

In a way I hope this isn’t shown, but I hope they have the scene where Rue gets killed because that is so powerful and sets up the situation in District 11 in Catching Fire.

And I know my aunt who I recommended this series to wants them to have the Peeta/Katniss scene by the river after she found him in the mud and she’s washing his clothes.

by ERIN in March 03 - 4:07 pm

Being that this book is soooo out there and everyone has a different image of it in their heads, I think the movie should eb flipped on it’s head and done by TIM BURTON. That means that johnny Depp will have to be in; playing Haymitch perferably. And Helena Botham Carter will have to be in it as well: maybe as Katniss’ mom or even Effie. As for the Katniss and Peeta… I’m seeing Nina Dobrev (Vampire Diaries) and Zac Efron (17 again). Although there won’t be basketball or dancing in this movie, I still think Efron can do a good job. Gale is one that I had trouble placing an actor to. Without much discription from the book about him, I kind of can see Steven Strait. I don’t know, but it should be good who ever they choose.

by Jourdan Cameron in March 03 - 4:16 pm

I’m worried that the film will be:
A. Marketed wrong, because a movie about kids killing each other + Fox News = Instant pain.
B. Badly done, because so many book conversions are (but I do have a little hope, since this is Lionsgate)
C. Leaves out the moral of the story/important plot elements.
D. Directed horribly.
E. Poorly casted
F. Fake (or pink, as a goth would say) full of stuff C. down your throat, trying to make a point too hard.
G. Gory to the point of distracting.
H. This list must end.

by madge in March 03 - 4:30 pm

hopefully its good, im going to CRY if its not like the book. this is an amazing book, i really dont want the movie to ruin the vision of it, thats the worst):

by rose in March 03 - 4:53 pm

i hope that they ick unknown actors that fit the description really well. the only actor that i like is harry treadaway for gale, but i pretty much just want the movie to stay true to the book.

by LoveTheHungerGames in March 03 - 5:00 pm

I hope they make the movie! Im a big fan of the book. I just hope the movie will tun out just like the book because most of the time books are turned into movies and they are sadly crappy. I hope the characters like Katniss and Peeta and Gale would be undiscovered actors. If they have Twilight actors in The Hunger Games I think its going to be a crappy movie because many people already think of them as the Twilight characters. But we never know.
GO THE HUNGER GAMES! :D

by Beth in March 03 - 5:35 pm

I really hope they dont murder the book.if you think about it, the book is soo popular that changing whats already awesome would be stupid. It better not be a repeat of Eragon or of The Lightning Thief. They completley changed those books when they were made into movies. THEY BETTER NOT DO THAT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!! people need to learn from the many mistakes they made and do the hunger games amazingly!

by Katie in March 03 - 5:37 pm

Well, I have some hope since Lionsgate is doing the movie and SC is writing the screen-play. I can handle a few minor scenes being cut for times constraints, but honestly most book-to-movie conversions are about 2 and a half hours long and that’s with a book that is twice the size of THG. So, hopefully they can fit all the important (and some not so important) scenes in. It will be tight though because of the excellent editting job THG had though.

As for acting preferences, I like Kaya Scodelario for Katniss, Alex Pettyfer or Lucas Till as Peeta, and either Ethan Peck or Adam Gregory as Gale. Any other unknown, but skilled young actor/actress works for these roles. I do believe that the older roles should be played by more well-known actors because this will draw a bit more attention to the film. Besides, if the scrpit is excellent, some actors may do it for a reduced salary since it’s a highly-acclaimed young adult book.

by Team Gale in March 03 - 5:38 pm

Anna Sophia Robb – KATNISS
Sterling Night- PEETA
Elle Fanning- PRIM
Effie Trinkit- Katy Perry
Haymitch- Robert Downey Jr.

THATS all i have for now… think i think is good XD
CANT WAIT for the movie if their making it.
PS i have a project to do in school and i have to do a trailer for the Hunger Games!!
OMG CANT WAIT!
~TEAM GALE!

by Rue11 in March 03 - 5:57 pm

I would love to see the scenes like rue’s death, clove’s death, katniss hunting with gale and… every other part of the book. i don’t have a cast yet but i’ll post it when i do

by Mrs. Peeta Mellark in March 03 - 6:25 pm

I’m really excited for the movie, but I’m also really nervous. What if they totally wreck one of the best books ever? However, I’m pretty hopeful for it since Suzanne Collins is helping write the screen play.

For actors, I think that they NEED to do an unknown for Katniss. And maybe even for Peeta too (however, I think Alex Pettyfer might work). Like Andrea said (I quote), “I don’t have any idea what I think should be in the movie. Please don’t kill the book!”

I agree with that. I have these mental images of Peeta and Katniss in my head, but as people suggest different actors/actresses and I look at them, those mental images fade. That’s why I really hope that they choose someone I like (NOT Kristen Stewart! UGH!), so that even if those images are replaces, I won’t mind. Because I know that of course they won’t pick people who look like the pictures I see in my head. =)

by Mackenzie in March 03 - 6:26 pm

Actors/Actresses: Undescovered
Scenes that SHOULD be cut off: I don’t think I want any scenes to be cut out! But I know there will be because you can’t fit every scene from a book into the movie, so the only scene I can think of that is probably
Scenes that SHOULD NOT be cut out:

by Mackenzie in March 03 - 6:31 pm

Ooops, accidenty hit enter…
So anyways the one scene I can think of to be cut out is, the day were nothing happens, It is just Katniss walking, then she goes up a tree. That was boring. Of coarse I liked hearing what was going on her head, but…
Okay Scenes that ABSOLUTLEY POSSITIVELY can NOT be cut out are:
1.) Opening Ceremonies
2.) Rue’s Death
3.) The TrakerJakers
4.) The berries BETTER STAY THE SAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
5.) Katniss Voulenteers. She is not reaped. She voulenteered. PRIM got chosen. KATNISS voulenteered.

by Lauren in March 03 - 7:14 pm

I think Katniss should be unknown actress, and Gale too,. but i like the idea of max thierot as peeta. he could play the part well.. and i wont say anything about how he looks. i hope i can find audition info cause i love thg and i have experience as an actress!
and i cant wait. I just hope i can find something

by Kaitlyn in March 03 - 7:42 pm

What I want the most from the movie is for it to make me feel the same emotions as I did in the book. I want it too be intense and have you on the edge of your seat the whole way, I want to cry when Rue dies, I want to feel the same fury towards the Capitol, and feel both relieved and bitter when another tribute dies. If they can get that down, they’ll have done the book real justice.

Here are my current picks for cast:
Katniss: Anna Popplewell (Maybe-she’s starting to grow on my) or, preferably, someone unknown
Peeta: Alex Petteyfer or William Mosely
Haymitch: Hugh Laurie
Cinna: Hugh Dancy
Prim: Abigail Breslin
Rue: Jodelle Ferland
Effie: Morgan Fairchild

by Shanley in March 03 - 8:43 pm

Hey people! Ok JD sorry to dump your bucket, but you look more like how I imagined Gale, but the good news is your funny and win the crowds with your podcasts and humor. Hope you aren’t to disappointed ;)

by hayleyhawthorne; in March 03 - 10:22 pm

For the characters, i think some young undiscovered ones (For the tributes & what not) And for Haymitch either Robert Downey Jr. or Johnny Depp.
The scenes that will be cut out i think are ones in the training center,
-peace
(:

by Mrs. Peeta Mellark in March 03 - 10:45 pm

I agree; JD looks more like Gale.

by Natasha in March 03 - 11:00 pm

What do I hope the movie is like?
I hope it feels like The Hunger Games. I think intimate plot details aren’t as important as the overall tone of the film. It needs to be edgy, suspenseful and riveting. Also I hope they portray the ideas well, particularly the ones around power (both physical and political). Also I hope they don’t play up the romance too much. It’s probably inevitable that they will, but i hope the film reflects the book priorities wise, which is the ideas and the plot.

Actors
Jack Black as Haymitch is somehting I think would be AMAZING!
Not really sure about the others, I think relative unknowns would be best for Katniss and Peeta. Though I like the idea of Mitch Hewer for Peeta.

Scenes.
Crucial scenes like the reaping, the interviews, Rue’s death, the berries, etc are obviously in, but I think the film makers could take some liberties. I’m more concerned with a film that gives the ideas and tone of the books justice rather than one that incorporates every tiny little detail of the books.

Really, it’s the kind of book that will either be made into an incredible film or a dreadful one. Let’s hope it’s the former.

by Samantha in March 03 - 11:16 pm

well, considering that i’m one of those people who hate a book’s movie unless it follows the book 99.9%, this is the best i can give. they can probably leave out most of the train. but keep some of it! they can deffinatley sum-up training. i really hope they DO NOT keep every single moment of katniss in the arena. they can skip a little bit of katniss with peeta. but keep the whole “banquet” thing. i hope they keep rue’s death!!! i will probably cry, but they need to keep it!!! ummm… well, everything else they need to leave in.
ok, JEREMY SUMPTER as PEETA!!!!!!!!! that’s the only one i care about!!! jeremy sumpter is litterally exactly how i imagined peeta. i saw his pic on the internet and immediatly thought PEETA!!!
i hope they screw up the plot. if they do, i will kill them. (not kidding.)

by Hungry4more in March 03 - 11:17 pm

This movie has to be EPIC!!! I hope the magic of the book doesn’t die like most movies. Like almost avery contestant in the book.
Im really looking forward to this. Everyone says that this would be a highly rated movie but they must still keep the teen audience. (Although violence is fun to watch.)

As for actors… Im a horrible actor. But I want to try out for the movie and get killed off right away in the Cornucopia. Or even the very stupid girl who lit the fire and got killed right away.
That is my dream movie role.

by Taluthia in March 04 - 12:02 am

I have law that they must go by in order for the peace and serentiy to be kept in this land.
1) Please go by the story line!
2) It’s okay to skip the scene when they’re ripping her hair out. I think that would make us all cringe and feel uncomfortable.
3) Try to keep it as close to the book as possible, like H.P. 1 & 2. Nothing like Twilight or Percy Jackson. Those were full of fail sauce.
4) No Megan Fox. I will BURN hollywood down.
5) Undiscovered actors/actresses. Being an actress myself, I know that there are so many people that have extrodenary talent that are undiscovered. They amaze me every day.
6) Be careful with our precious book. I love this book more than Golem loves the ring. I literally don’t know if I’ll be able to fall in love because of Peeta. Most people call it an obsession. I call it a passion.
So no matter what they do, they had better read all of this.

by Jenn in March 04 - 1:37 am

I love these books, I really hope they cast unknowns for Katniss, Peeta, and Gale and the other Tributes. I like the idea of really well known actors in the roles of Haymitch, Effie, Cinna, and Mrs. Everdeen. My suggestions would be:

Haymitch-Clive Owen (purely based on his children of men performance, I love an action star in flip flops)

Effie Trinket- Jennifer Coolidge (Stiffler’s mom in American Pie)

Cinna-Benjamin Bratt

Mrs. Everdeen- Julianne Moore

by Ashley in March 04 - 6:16 am

I think Peeta, Katniss and Gale would have to be played by unknown actors however the older charcters could be played very well by established actors. I can totally see Robert Downey Jr. as Haymitch and Anne Hathaway as Effie.

by Athena in March 04 - 6:37 am

So here’s my ideal cast. I’m pretty confident with about half, but the rest are just quick picks.

Katniss – Kaya Scodelario
Peeta – Alex Pettyfer
Gale – Chris Riggi
Haymitch – Kevin McNally (he’s a little old but w/e that’s how I pictured the character)
Rue- Jadagrace Berry (don’t know her age so she might be a little young)
Effie – Kristin Chenowith
Prim – Brooklynn Proulx (might be too young, too)
Mrs. Everdeen – Kelly Rowan
Cinna – Torrance Coombs
Thresh – Anthony Mackie (might be a little old)
Clove – Alessandra Torresani (she’s a blackbelt, so that’s a plus)
Foxface – Molly Quinn
Cato – Patrick Flueger
Glimmer – Portia Doubleday
Madge – Magda Apanowicz
Marvel – Daniel Cudmore (too old?)
President Snow – Mickey Rourke (just cuz he creeps me out, lol)

As long as we don’t get any Twilighters or Vampire Diaries-ers(?) or Disney actors, I think I’d be happy. And please no Emma Roberts or Nina Dobrev. Katniss has to look like she could hold her own in a fight.

by Sky in March 04 - 2:12 pm

I hoping the movie will be well done as I have been a bit disappointed in recent book to movies adaptations.

I agree that Alex Petteyfer looks the part for Peeta the main problem is he will not fly, that is why he was let go from the Eragon cast because he wouldn’t fly to Hungary, so he won’t be able to play the part of Peeta in a destroyed North America unless they film in Britain (which I doubt because it is set in North America). If Sterling Knight plays Peeta I will not be going to see this movie, everything I have seen him in including interviews I am left with the sense that he still has a LOT of growing up to do and I think we need someone a little more mature physically and mentally for the part.

My Cast (So Far):
Peeta: Will Moseley

Katniss: Caiylee Suliak or the girl who plays Tony’s sister in Skins (Her name escapes me right now).

Gale: Gaspard Ulliel

Effie: Kristen Chenoweth or Amy Poehler

Haymitch: Karl Urban because he plays drunk so well and his Bones made me think of Haymitch for some reason.

President Snow: Depending on how old he is actually meant to be: Ian McKellan or Gary Oldman

And that’s as far as I got, mostly because I cannot remember people’s names, I can see the actors in my head but can’t remember names.

by Wolf heart in March 04 - 4:36 pm

I think agree with rue 11 I would like to see the scene of rue’s death. I wouls also like to see the scene with Katniss and peeta when she is totaly anoyed at how loud peeta is. I just hope that it’s not another twilight whe the actors don’t play the characters right. i think that totaly 100% Katniss, Peeta, and Gale should be unknown people, like they should go some were and have aditions and cast the trio that way.

by Peeta's girl in March 04 - 7:20 pm

JD should be Peeta.

by Rue Her Death in March 04 - 8:07 pm

I just hope they make the lullaby hauntingly beautiful. That’s what I want to remember when I walk out of the theater. Katniss needs to be able to sing.

by jamesdavid in March 04 - 9:32 pm

Well a lot of people have been saying that Suzzane Collins will not be a good screen writer but you have to remember that she was a screen writer and a play writer befor she was even an author. I think she will do a good job at writing it and we will be happy. As for actors………: Katniss= Lucy Hale
Peeta= Richard Pettyfer
Haymitch= Hugh Lawrie
Prim= Elle Fanning
Gayle= Ethan Peck

by Taluthia in March 04 - 11:03 pm

I think they can cut a FEW UNIMPORTANT scenes. Only that. Ruining the book by a movie would be cause for death.
Suzanne Collins wrote this book, so I don’t know why anyone is arguing that she wouldn’t be a good screen writer. She would never kill a book of her own. Anyother book for that matter, also.
Can we please of actors and actresses that can actually ACT? I could even show them what acting means. I don’t want emotionless actors and actress, unless they have a reason for being emotionless. Didn’t Bella have emotion?
Unknown actors/actresses please.
I want everyone casted in this movie, to act their charactors to the best of their abilities. I don’t want any slackers. I want those that can be the charactor, but not get stuck in them. Even if they are a cameo or extra, they need to understand their charactors and be the charactor.

by Marissa in March 05 - 1:56 am

Im worried that Catherine Hardewick will direct it and cast Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stuart. Oh, wait….

by Taluthia in March 05 - 12:08 pm

Please no! Not them… They’re too stuck inside their charactors….

by BlackRoseOpal in March 05 - 3:38 pm

Lol, ya no Twilighters leaking into The Hunger Games. I swear if i see but one shimmer on someone’s skin that is not from the Capitol and is indicated that it is face I’m going to slap a hobo.

by Wolf heart in March 05 - 3:47 pm

They should get the guy that directed New moon because it was a little better or maybe the guy who directed transformers. Ugh i hate it when you know who you’re talking about but you can’t put a name to the face. I think thet they should stick to the book as much as they can and they wont have another twilight problem when the people loved the books but the movie ruined them.

by TheAwsomest1 in March 05 - 5:29 pm

it better be just like the book i hate it when they change things up

by Taluthia in March 05 - 9:31 pm

Ruining that book would be asking for an early death

by BlackRoseOpal in March 06 - 5:16 pm

Peter Jackson (director of Lord of the Rings) should direct it. He could put the violence in there without it making us sick to our stomachs. And remember the song Pippin sang in Return of the King?
Hello! Rue’s Lullaby.
Heck we need the Lord of the Rings TECH team working with the Hunger Games!

by TheArenaKing in March 06 - 5:27 pm

I think that the movie should be like the books. They will have to cut some parts out, but that will be very hard as almost everything is important. They might have to cut out stuff like the train and the training before the games. I just hope they don’t cut out too much of the games themselves. I would love to see how they make the arena and the Cornucopia. That will be a challenge. Also, the “girl on fire” dress is something I’m really looking forward too. They will need too balance out themes of the story. It can’t have too much of anything. It can’t all be about the fighting, but it can’t all be about love, either. As for the actors, I don’t really know many, but as long as they act well, I’m happy. I just want the book not to be ruined by the movie.

by Becca in March 06 - 10:41 pm

I really only have my heart set on two people for the movie. Mitch Hewer for Peeta. He’s perfect. I love him! The other person who has to be in the movie is Christian Siriano for Cinna! If he could both act in the movie and design all of Katniss’s outfits, it would be awesome! And his flamboyance is a perfect capitol accent! He’s so perfect. I do like the suggestion of Hugh Laurie as Haymitch. Mhmmmmm. That would be very nice though other people could do a great job as Haymitch.

by Taluthia in March 06 - 10:45 pm

Just make the book into a movie the best they possibly can. Go around the world, auditioning for the parts, finding the perfect people to play the charactors.
Because honestly, I just got my copy of Hunger Games back today, and my friend said that she had never read a book like that before in her life. She’s read a lot of books, too. I want them to be very carefull to “preciese”.
I think Lord of the Rings Director would be a fantastic choice, as long as no blond elves come out in the middle of the Games, helping Katniss shoot her arrow properly. That would just be strange, but have a mysterious funny factor. Everyone needs laughter in their lives.
@TheArenaKing- you are right. They need to find that balance. The balance that hold the entire binding of the book to be movie together. Without that balance, it would twist the book around and ruin it, for good. Few would ever read the book after they saw the movie, and those that do, will think the movie is better. Balance is very important when it comes to these kinds of books.

by Taluthia in March 06 - 10:45 pm

Sorry I have no idea how to spell precious

by letthegamesbegin. . . in March 07 - 8:28 pm

i actually think Clive Owen would make a fantastic Haymitch.

by Taluthia in March 07 - 9:26 pm

Is there someway to mix Hugh Laury (Dr. House) with Johnny Depp?

by Sophie in March 08 - 12:45 am

I think the movie should be less romantic (still a bit though) but it has to keep the audience on the edge of their seat in fear for the characters, wanting them wanting to know what happens next

by Wolf heart in March 08 - 4:22 pm

Hugh jackman looks like a Haymitch to me. who do you think should be effie?

by Taluthia in March 08 - 7:02 pm

(Ha ha ha!)
Sorry… my drama teacher loves that guy…
… When ever I think of Effie I think of that pink professor in HP5. Just because of all the pink. How old IS Effie anway?

by Molly in March 08 - 9:29 pm

Nina Jacobson (or whoever is in charge of casting) absolutely NEEDS to pick unknown actors/actresses for the parts of the young people, like Katniss, Peeta, Gale, Madge, and Prim. For the adults i think known actors/actresses would be fine. Also the characters need to look their age! I have read the Twilight series and seen the movies and Robert Pattinson… so not 17! The actors in the movie would also bond and act better without having a problem with age difference, and not having to deal with the swelled egos that some big-time actors/actresses have. I hope (even though its not realistic) that none of the scenes are majorly cut, maybe a few trimmings here and there, but one thing that can absolutely not be shortened at all is Rue’s death, Katniss has to sing every note of that song or I might throw my cell phone at the screen, seriously. Also (yes I’m picky) Katniss cant be a softie she needs to be headstrong, resilliant, spirited, and athletic looking. And PLEASE, PLEASE TRY NOT TO RUIN IT!!! I just hope they stay true to the book and the movie will be fine :)

by elizaveta in March 08 - 9:59 pm

Me wants Gale flashbacks!!!
Actually, all the flashbacks are important, the ones that show her history with Gale, and the one with Peeta & the bread. What they can’t miss . . . well, the reaping obviously. The interviews. That dinner conversation, where Katniss and Peeta get Haymitch to finally come to his senses. Of course, the cave scenes (even a Gale fan knows those are important). Katniss/Peeta saving each other’s lives. The ending. What else what else . . .
I don’t know what I would let them take out. The whole book needs to be in there! Maybe we can get a uber-long movie? I guess that’s too much to hope for, though . . . no non-readers would watch it. :(
I don’t really know any actors/actresses, so as long as they can look and act their parts, I’ll be fine. I think it should be fast-paced, but not super-confusing. Really, don’t ruin the book. Please. I’ll beg the movie producers. Especially after what happened to the Lightning Thief (that doesn’t bear thinking about). I also think that Katniss should have a voice-over that is her thoughts, so we can tell what she’s thinking (or else a lot of the plot would be lost). Plus some scenes of people in the Districts or the Capitol watching the Games would be cool. (Katniss/Peeta kiss … aww from Capitol … NOOO from Gale … etc.).
Wow this was long. :)

by KatnissxGale in March 08 - 10:50 pm

Well, I think for one, there shouldn’t be a movie at all. I know this opinion will be very controversial, but I think this for several reasons.
1. We’re stuck in Katniss’s head for all of the book, and unless the actress for her is doing voiceover for 90% of the movie, it’ll be, well, not very long. It just doesn’t seem like that’ll work, unfortunately.
2. I HATE how it’s always being compared to Twilight! I’m not that big of a Twilight fan, so I really, really dislike this. It’s not nearly as romantic as Twilight, and, unlike Twilight, it has messages to convey to teens about society. The only thing that Twilight says is “abstinence”. And it doesn’t say that too well either. Uglies, too, does this type of thing.
3. It would be rated R, for sure, unless someone onscreen screams “ADVERT YOUR EYES!” and Katniss does it at every turn! I mean, it’s okay in a book because there’s not much description and such, but in a movie, there’s no way to avoid it. What about when Katniss shoots Marvel in the NECK? How are they going to avoid that making it an R-rated movie. Also…Peeta is NAKED in the river.
Although I’m like every other female fan and think I would be great as Katniss (huge ego alert), I don’t think this whole thing is a good idea for the above reasons…and if it does get made into a movie, I guess it’s great for the fandom. My friends who are Hunger Games-skeptical would probably read it then but still…I don’t think they’d be able to do it without destroying the book!

by Taluthia in March 08 - 11:58 pm

Well, even so, they can totally cover for those scenes that are… questionable. Have her wear a bathrobe when ever she is supposed to be naked. Give Peeta the backpack. Just kill Marvel the way he needs to be killed. There is a way to make violence not too disturbing but not too Barney. Yes, I can refer back to children shows. The book will be hard as a movie, we can hope that they cast the right actors that can convey what they are thinking on their faces. Just have them STAY IN CHARACTOR!

by YAYGALE in March 09 - 1:05 am

Awesome Gale = Deliriously happy :D

What would be weird yet cool is if all the actors from the Twilight Saga Movies came over to play characters from the Hunger Games :]

by Taluthia in March 09 - 9:52 am

please… no….

by Wolf heart in March 09 - 4:30 pm

Oh no. they don’t look anything like the characters . not trying to be rude they should be unknown actors and actresses to play the role. maybe they should use the people they show on they title part of jabberjays.com.

by Jenn in March 10 - 12:53 am

LOL Christian Siriano as Cinna!!! That is totally awesome.

Hunger Games does not need to be Rated R. With clever editing I believe Hunger Games can be a PG-13 and still keep the best bits of the book. Lionsgate should spend their money on a talented director rather than big name actors, though. Peter Jackson did a superb job with LOTR. I also love the adaptation of Memoirs of a Geisha diector Rob Marshall.

by Taluthia in March 10 - 12:54 am

Wolf heart…
.,.. Thank you…
I belive that any charactor that played a huge part for any movie or television series would not be good. Everyone would see them and be like “Oh look, there’s Susan and Peter” That would ultimatly kill the movie.

by Kimmie too in March 10 - 9:40 am

This is such a hard one. There are so many scenes that have to be in the movie! I think though I’m most interested in how they will show how connected Katniss and Gale are. Since he’s not in the book much. How will we know she’s thinking of him? I’m wondering if they’ll have some “thought monologues” in the movie.

by Wolf heart in March 11 - 3:15 pm

I hope that they just stick to the book and not change anu part in it like they did twilight. Yes you might want to change the scene but what will the book fanatics think when they see how much of a difference there is in the book compared to the movie.

by Farmboy in March 11 - 4:56 pm

I think it will never live up to the book.

by Wolf heart in March 12 - 3:40 pm

Nothing will live up to the book. I just really hope that they don’t srew it up. I agree Farmboy.

by Wolf heart in March 12 - 4:04 pm

Habe any of you visited Hungergames.net the site looks so cool you should check it out.

by letthegamesbegin. . . in March 13 - 8:27 pm

#1. Alex Pettyfer is totally growing on me as the actor to play Peeta
#2. The movie better not be rated PG or else im gonna slap somebody. They should make the movie as close to the book as possible, which is sometimes gonna mean that things will be gory, but i do think they should tone down the nude scenes of course.
#3. I just want the movie to be a good representation of the book and really hope they can make it work WELL.

by Liz in March 18 - 10:00 pm

I would love it if they didn’t butcher the movie, like Hollywood often does. I hope it is fighty, but not the non-stop, blood, guts, and gore crap. I hate it.

by TEAM GALE in March 19 - 1:56 am

I hope its AWESOME (DER) and i dont pay attention to actors but.. OH MY GOD BREAKTHROUGH!!!! i think that that guy from tansformers should play GALE!!!! (JK). What nude scenes? I, for one, am going to murder the entire Lionsgate company if they get the hair color wrong like in lightning thief (If i were to choose to spend 10$ on the book or movie id go with the book) and slap someone if its PG as well. I think they should cut out Rues death scene!!! (JK again) they could definitely leave out… hmmm lets see…………. i got nuthin. i mean c’mon its not harry potter sized (or should i say twilight? EFF TWILIGHT) so they could definitely include about 95% of a 300 paged book (not even).

by ben awesome in March 19 - 2:37 pm

If it’s done by Lionsgate it will be gnarly. I think you can’t mess up the basic idea of the hunger games it was such a good book that I think peole will be hooked on the awesomness of the games. after they see the movie they should be likely to read the book.

by ben awesome in March 19 - 2:41 pm

The lightning thif movie sucked comepared to the book. hahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhaahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahhahaha!!!!!!
Go teem peeta. Oh I just thought of something… Danny Elfman should do the music for the Hunger Games and Tim Burton should be the director.

by ben awesome in March 19 - 2:47 pm

This is going to be an awesome movie. Though the seen of Rue’s death should prove to be gorey. But I hope it’s not to gorey. lolololololololololol

by TEAM GALE in March 20 - 2:30 pm

CINNNA SHOULD BE BRAD PITT!!!!!! IT WOULD BE AWESOMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe…… naahhhh……… yes…….. perhaps……….nope………..yep……

by rina in March 27 - 9:23 pm

I have confidence that the movie will turn out to be great. Especially since Collins has such a huge bearing on it.
As for my cast, I’ve always liked Jack Black or Haymitch, or Johnny Depp. Depp proved he can play a very convincing drunk in POTC, so he’d be perfect…and Black has the look–at least how I imagined him.
For Peeta, I picture Codey Linley, but I’ve flirted with the idea of Sterling Knight…I’ve seen some people suggest Alex Pettyfer, and I have to agree–He’s a great Peeta.
Kristen Chenoweh or Miranda Richardson for Effie.
I cannot for the life of me think of a perfect Katniss!!! Honestly, the one person I’m really concerned about them getting right is Cinna. He’s my favorite.

by Gina in June 13 - 11:04 pm

I love the idea of Kristen Chenoweth as Effie, she is exactly how i pictured Effie to look and sound. i also think Hugh Laurie would make a great Haymitch. anyone heard of Johnny Pacar? i think he would be a good Gale. as for Katniss and Peeta, i think they should do an audition tour and get an undiscovered actor and actress (that can actually act).

if any of the Twilight cast is in this movie I will cry and then kick the nearest person in the shin. Kristin Stewart should not be in this movie! her acting sucks.

but on a happier note, The Hunger Games is my favorite book and i think SC will do a great job at adapting her own book into a movie.

by Akaterina in July 13 - 8:52 am

The hunger games are my favorite book series ever… I’m so scared that they are going to mess up the movie. Coming from me you’ll expect something else but.. the scenes I think they néed…
1 the Capitol designers
2 katniss dress (for the interview)
2.5 the carriage scene
3 peetas interview ( katnisss isn’t as important )
4 what happens after the interview
5 katniss scene with the ganemakers (roast pig)
6 a lot of scenes of rue (includig death)
7 a lot of scenes of peeta (including river)
8 peetas camouflage
Okay… That’s it
and I know you probably didn’t expect things like peetas camouflage or katniss dress did you? :p
i really hope they don’t murder the poor boook!

by Akaterina in July 13 - 9:04 am

Oh and also… For the actors
I’d they put anybodyfrpn twilight in that movie I will wall of o there. I mean it, I willl
I can’t think of anybody for katniss… Maybe they should do auditions for her and rue
if they get a really hot guy to play peeta i’ll be mad even though most of you disagree… I pictured peeta with red hair and freckles, but nor with glasses, and stocky build… Serch glee don’t stop believing on YouTube and watch the second one down… The guy is exactly how I pictured peeta
the hot guy can play gale instead
haymitch should totally be johnny depp
and cinna has got to be perfect
im going to read the hunger games (again possibly for the twenteth time)
oh and by the way I’m totally team peeta all the way!
