I spoke to two producers from Lionsgate who are making the “Hunger Games” movie. They said Suzanne had given them her draft of the script, which is now being revised by another screenwriter. They hope to be able to announce a director this summer, and go into production in January to release the film later in 2011.

Yes!!! Real news! It’s about time we got some movie updates from Lionsgate. This got me so excited, hopefully they’ll pick someone good to direct the movie. Can’t wait until they annouce it!

Oh wow! this is great. It coincides with the news that Guillermo del Toro just stepped down from being the director of the Hobbit. Maybe this is wishful thinking, but Guillermo del Toro has an amazing creative mind and a very dark sensibility that would be perfect for this movie. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I agree with Distict12, I hope Katniss is played by an unknown teenager. The Hunger Games should have fresh, new talent all to its own!

My friend and I actually called Lionsgate and they said they would not have any information about auditions until December… so that either means they arent gonna tell us when they are or they are having them later this year or early next year. Hopefully early next year so I can audition. =)

OMG. words cannot describe how I feel about this. I’m really really excited and I have high hopes with this making-into-movie. I also hope that people wouldn’t compare the book from the movie, and the hunger games from twilight.

I hope David Slade is the director. He did such a great job with Eclipse, and suspence is his forte
