Do you think irony might decide to have fun in Mockingjay and Prim will end up dying after all of Katniss’ efforts to keep her alive?

I don’t think Suzanne Collins would do that. That’s way to far out there! But if she plans on doing that then there will be more action, thrill & excitement

I have to say… no. Suzanne alluded to important character deaths, but I feel, in the grand scheme of things, Prim wasn’t exactly the main character’s demise to whom she was referring. Besides, when’s Prim going to be in a life-threatening situation? Katniss won’t let her anywhere near a battlefield.

I think while nobody would agree or like the idea of Prim dying, it could happen. I mean everyone seems to think Haymitch or Peeta or Gale will die, so why not kill someone as unexpected as Prim?
And to those who are saying her death would be for nothing because she’s the reason Katniss volunteered in the first place, I completely disagree. She’s helped bring about a revolution that has the whole of Panem finally standing up for themselves! If Prim dies, it certainly won’t be in vain.

I think it depends a lot on whether the book is going to be a happy story or a sad one. and as the people above said, Prim is the whole reason Kaitness even went to the hunger games and while it turned into so much more than just saving Prim I still think that saving Prim is her number 1 priority no matter what.

That would be an intresting twist but so sad. I think if that happens then katniss would go into a depression and all her efforts were for nothing. I Dout that’s what suzzann wants to do. I hope not!!!

I really doubt Prim will die. Katniss would just be so devastated, I don’t know how she would live through it. And Prim seems to be blossoming right now, killing her off would be such a waste. I think Katniss’s mother will probably die though.

I know that Prim is the whole reason for what Katniss has been through, but the capital would want to kill those reasons and make Katniss suffer as much as possible. As much as I would hate it for Prim to die, people in the book would want her to die.
For a reason why Prim wouldn’t die: the capital already killed one “Prim” for Katniss. Rue. I don’t think Susan Collins would want another one, let alone the original dead.

that would be devistating but it doesnt seeem like it would do much action-wise. i think peeta is gonna die. i really dont want him to but i think its gonna happen. because she got in the first hunger games to save prim but in the next one her main goal was to protect peeta. so if either prim or peeta dies it will still be irony but i really think peetas gonna die.

I don’t think that Prim will die because though that is one of Katniss biggest fears it wouldn’t really make since to have her die because that isn’t Katniss main foucus at the time

I think that Prim won’t die. I think that the Capitol is going to hold someone hostage to force Katniss to go to them, but it won’t be Prim. I think it will be either Gale or Peeta, and one of the two will end up dying

To be honest i don’t think Suzanne would kill prim in Mockingjay because Katniss is so close to Prim that if anything happend to her i think Katniss’s whole world would just end, and she would just go into depretion mode like her mother did when her father died. i really dont think that prim will die. theyre going to district 13, where they are safe from the capitol. and its not like anybody in district 13 would kill prim. i think that prim is safe from the capitol now, but gale, katniss, and peeta are still in danger. but whatever happens in the third book, it will hurt katniss, but she will get over it.

I highly doubt Suzanne would do that. Prim means everything to katniss. In the Hunger Games Katniss says at the beginning that Prim is the only one that she is truely sure she loves. I predict that someone else major (other than prim) will die. Haymitch will obviously die sacraficing himself (the old wise mentor always dies). In other discussions I predicted Katniss’s father to still be alive. If he is it is possible he would give his life for her’s. Gale could die leading the rebellion or Peeta could die as a captive. I believe that is most of the main characters that could die. Either way I’m sure Mockinghay will have an extrememly exciting, and dramatic plot from begininng to finish!

ok i dont think that Prim will die but instead i think president snow will hold her captive and threaten to kill her then Katniss (or maybe Haymitchor Gale) will save her but die doing so. Also if Prim did die that would suck cause Katniss went into the games to save her!

Whoa, whoa, whoa… it’s Wednesday? I thought it was Tuesday. Wait… it is Wednesday! Wow. LOL! Anyway! It’s certainly possible for Prim to die but I really doubt it. How would she die? It’s not like she’s gonna be in the frontlines of battle. Katniss would protect her and everything. Like I’ve heard a bajillion times, Suzanne Collins doesn’t just put something in a book for no reason and Prim dying doesn’t make sense. Why would she die? There would be no point.

Despite how ironic that would be, I think the only way Prim could die would be for Katniss to be dead first. As in, the Capitol would literally have to pry Primrose from Katniss’ cold, dead hands if they wanted to kill Prim.

I definatly agree with Gab, after everything that Katniss has gone through to keep Prim alive, i doubt she would let her die now with out a fight.

Well, I must say the Blaze has a sense of humor. Gab, that has made my day.
I don’t want her to die, but it might be a possibility. If she does die, I do not think it will be in the beginning. That would just make Katniss feel alone and usless; cut off from everyone else in the world. And I think that would sort of make the beginning sort of, excuse my juvenile wording, LAME. Sorry. It could be a large possibility. Something that an author has to do, is do not what the readers want, but what should happen. Sometimes it won’t make the author happy. What sort of author relishes Death? What ever Suzanne Collins chooses, we should support it, since we can’t do much to change it.

I agree with Katie up on top….Suzanne did say that she wasn’t afraid to kill off main characters, but I don’t think that Prim is a big enough character to kill off! We really don’t see a lot of Prim in the books. And besides. like most people are saying, there’s no way she could really die! Katniss is not going to let her anywhere near the war that is sure to happen in Mockingjay, and Prim dying would just make Katniss really depressed and she might not follow through with her Mockingjay duties. But then again, I do agree with Taluthia…..if Suzanne is going to kill Prim, it will probably be near the end, maybe Pres. Snow will order her death when he figures out that he will not win the Rebellion. Who knows? We have no clue what Mrs. Collins will do, so let’s just sit back and wait for Mockingjay to come out (even though that kills me!!!! I can’t wait much longer!)

I think I could happen because The Capitol knows that Katniss’s one weakness is her loved ones especially Primrose Everdeen since she volunteered for her…but then again in Catching Fire, when the jabberjays were imitating Prim’s screams and Peeta was trying to calm Katniss down, Johanna mentions that the Capitol would never kill Prim cuz that would clearly cause a rebellion but I think since we already are on the brink of a war, The Capitol can clearly kill anyone to get back the control they had so they might as well at least threaten Katniss with Prim’s life..
otherwise it depends on suzanne Collins and I disagree with Gab, I don’t think the capitol will have to pry Prim out of KAtniss’s hands because after all the Capitol is very powerful and it has its own ways of getting to people…

I don’t think she will die since Katniss has done so much for her, but if she did die, I’d assume that it would make Katniss extremely mad and do something that she may not have done otherwise. Which could end up with horrific results (including the death(s) of 1 or more)

I think that she will. I think Rue’s death foreshadows Prim’s death, because Katniss is always saying how much Rue reminds her of Prim. And since Prim is “the only person I’m sure I love” it would make sense for the Capitol to target her. And then I think it will fuel her anger against the capitol for the final duel. Who knows? maybe she’ll end up living with Rue’s family at the end or something. Anyway, basically, I’m saying that while I really hope she doesn’t, I think Prim will die.

Well I wouldn’t put it completely past Suzanne to kill of a (how old is she again?) young child, I mean that was proved with Rue. She doesn’t write fluffy pieces where nobody dies, she gets that in a situation like that, yeah, not everyone is going to walk away with their heads. That being said, though, I still don’t think Prim will die. I just don’t see a point in killing her. Rue had to die because only one person could live (or two) and it showed how ruthless the Capitol and the President was. Currently, I don’t see a position where it would be necessary to kill Prim. I feel like it would hurt Katniss to much for her to be the strong person she needs to be to stage the rebellion.
That’s just my thinking currently though. I could be wrong. I know Suzanne is going to surprise us all with what happens so I guess we’ll find out when the book comes! XD

I’m honestly keeping an open mind for MockingJay. But if I had to say yes or no, I would probably go with no. Rue had to die because there could only be 1 victor (at the time) and Katniss wouldn’t have been able to kill Rue, so Suzanne Collins had to have someone kill her. I don’t see why they would kill Prim. The citizens of the Capitol would be furious if they killed an innocent little girl. I think its possible that Prim gets captured or nearly dies, but actually die? I don’t think Suzanne will do that. It’s not because she wouldn’t (she killed Rue, did she not?), but because it doesn’t make sense to. I can, however, see the Capitol using Prim to hurt Katniss and to possibly TRY to threaten her into surrender using Prim. But then again, Prim’s death would bring a huge surprise to MockingJay, and could also be a great opportunity for Katniss to improve her emotional strength (staying strong through the death of the one she loves most). I can’t wait for it to come out!! I know it will be stunning however things turn out!

It would be sad, but possible. It would definitely hurt Katniss though, but Katniss is strong. If Prim did die, then Katniss would probably be really upset at first, but it would probably make her want to kill Snow even more she would be even more determined.

people I think are possible deaths in MockingJay: Haymitch (i love him but I think he’ll die), Mrs. Everdeen, Madge? (she’s kinda minor, but she might die), Gale or Peeta (neither would be nice but that would certainly be dramatic if one of them dies! I don’t think BOTH of them will die), Cinna (I REALLY hope not, but he wasn’t looking so good after he got beat up in CF), President Snow (heehee I sure hope so!), or perhaps even Katniss (though this is unlikely, its possible). Prim has a chance of dying also, but I think the others I mentioned are stronger possibilities.

Well I think Prim will die. I’m sorry but once I heard this question I felt a pang in my chest and I’ll take that as a yes. Either that, or Prim will be in major danger (HA! THAT RHYMES) in THE HUNGER GAMES TRILOGY: MOCKINGJAY. What I think is that she’ll be bait for Katniss. And btw Katniss can’t protect Prim, because Katniss isn’t with Prim when THE HUNGER GAMES TRILOGY: CATCHING FIRE ended. And we don’t know where Prim is, she might be in District 13 but we might not even know if District 13 exists.
So conclusion: I think Prim will die.

I do not think that Prim will die or be held hostage either by the Capitol because they all ready have Peeta to bargain for. But I do think others will die though through out the book.

Ummm…That would be very dramatic, but it would make the whole series (and I hate to say this) almost pointless. Like there’s no reason that Katniss ever needed to be in the Hunger Games. Don’t think I’m hating on the books, i love them. I’m just saying that it would be a bad turn on the plot.

If Prim does die I think that would make Katniss stronger like Jade said above. It would make Katniss want revenge but I don’t see how she could die (because Katniss most likely won’t lat her out of her sight) or why (how would Prim dying help the Capitol). But it is a possibilty. A suckish possibility.

If Prim dies, I’ll be shocked. Prim isnt really involved as much as some other people in the rebellion, and I can’t see her in the battle field anytime soon. If the person who dies is in Katniss’ family, I think it would be her mom. It’s the only death that would be bittersweet, because, IF Katniss’ dad really DID die, atleast they’d be together. I’m still guessing that it’s going to be either Haymitch or Gale, and I’m not saying that because I’m Team Peeta, Gale just seemes like a character who’d die a hero.

That would be awful, but I could see that as a possibility. After all, Life is never fair, and just because you make a deal with It doesn’t mean It’ll honor it. If it were to happen, I would see it as being very symbolic of the human condition–how we fight and fight, yet we might never win. I hope that she doesn’t, but, like I said, it’s not completely impossible or random either.

if Prim dies,i swear i will freak out, chuck mockingjay out the window and cry myself to sleep. it would make sense for prez snow to do that as a final act against Katniss, for he knows that that would kill Katniss in the inside and destroy her. however , no matter how dramatic that would be, because suzanne collins has a heart and is an amazingly talented author, i think and hope it is a no. also, as it has been said before, it would make the entire series pointless cuz katniss basically said in THG that’ i love Prim so much that i will die a horrible death for her because that’s what i think will happen. But that’s ok because Prim would be safe.’

I’m agreeing with Hannah here, about keeping an open mind for The Mockingjay. Some of us, who like to be spoiled, already know how The Mockingjay starts, so we know it’s not gonna be a peppy, cheery book. Well, which book HAS been a peppy, cheery book?
And seriously, how will the Capitol get Prim when she, Katniss and the gang are heading to District 13? The Capitol has Peeta to use as bait, so I don’t think they’ll go out of their way to capture Prim. (Which, if they did, would require going to D13, getting through a whole buncha people + one angry Katniss Everdeen, stealing Prim, getting out of D13 and through all the other districts that are in full-scale rebellion, and back to the Capitol. It’s a wasted trip.)
Did Suzanne Collins say in an interview that she was gonna kill off a main character?? Honestly, I think Cinna’s dead. DX It depends on how the book is going, but I think either Peeta or Gale will be killed. (Not both, hopefully!) And Haymitch? … Yeah, he’s a goner. D:

I wouldn’t say prim isn’t going to die, because we real do not know at this point. I think it there is a high chance she will die though. Like someone said before (sorry I don’t know who) it would make katniss angry, add fuel to flames if you will. And to all the people who say she won’t die because katniss won’t let her into the battle, it doesn’t matter if she is on the battle field or not. The capital can still grab her no matter where she is. They can still grab her. Now that I think about it, it seems more and more likely that they will. I mean they already have peeta but prim would break her completely.

Prim?! D-D-D-DIE? Well, if Prim dies, so will a happy ending for Katniss. It’s as simple as that. Prim’s death would make Katniss weaker in my opinion. Sure she may seem stronger. She may want more revenge. She may be more focused (although that would be a miracle if she were MORE focused). But IMO, that is a weakness rather than a strength. My only wish is that in Mockingjay, Katniss will learn how to live rather than just survive. I don’t care if she picks Team Gale, Team Peeta, Team Finnick, or Team Prim’s Goat (although JK Rowling already went there with Aberforth). I want Katniss to actually have something to enjoy and enjoy it and if Prim dies, I don’t see that happening.

I think her mother will die, and maybe Gale, though if that happens there will be hell to pay.
But Prim? The more I think about it, the more I’m inclined to say yes. If only because everybody’s not expecting it and Collins has a knack for doing the exact thing we’d never think of. Having Prim die will definitley give Katniss an edge, and more nail-biting tention in the book. (See? I told you I couldn’t spell….)

I’m sorry to be posting twice, but what do you think of this?
I think it would be easy to see Prim die if she is still a little delicate little girl that Katniss has always protected. But if we see Prim come to her own, prove to be a awesome healer or something, then it’d make more sense to keep her alive.

i think it might be possible, but probably not since, she is the reason why Katniss went into the hunger games in the first place. even though i’m team peeta, i think he might die, bc in catching fire, they ask each other their favorite colors. Katniss says green, and Peeta says orange. I heard somewhere that green means life or to live and orange means death or to die. or gale with die, either way, it will have Katniss distraught and vulnerable, with is what the capitol wants.

Sooo a major realization just practically hit me! What if at some point in the book it was a life and death matter and Katniss just had to choose Peeta or Gale for! It’s a possibility and that would be epic and intense! I could see it as a sort of conclusion to the love triangle. I think that might actually happen and now I have to admit I am getting the chills.

oh YEAH even though I still think some smaller unexpected person will die maybe Prim won’t. In THG and CF they portray her as a little girl whose just scared and can’t defend herself but she was pretty much raised by Katniss and we all know what she’s like so maybe she’ll come out and we get to see the real Prim because right now no one knows what she’s really like and I highly doubt that she’s the scared little girl everyone thinks she is
and to whether it’s a sad book or a happy book it’s about a war, it’s not going to end up happy, Katniss will have to comprimise, whether it be having to chose to save Peeta or Gale or having Prim die someone important will die.
It’s like The Deathly Hallows, people die, there is pain, but it ends up all right at the end doesn’t it? So it’s not going to be a Fairy tale ending but Katniss is going to have to deal with it won’t she….

Well, I said before that Rue’s death forshadows Prim’s death, and I still say that. I know people have said that Rue had to die, but think about it. Everyone thought Peeta would have to die, and he didn’t. so something like that could have happened with Rue. And also, SC chose the character of Rue, and chose her to be so much like Prim. So yes, the district 11 tribute had to die, but it didn’t have to be Rue, the character that she is. Does that make sense? What if, since Rue was killed by District 1 in the games, Prim was killed by someone from District 1. Cuz it said, most of the districts are in full-scale rebellion, which makes me think that some of the districts, probably 1, 2, and 4, aren’t rebelling. But i would cry sooooo much!!!

And also to the people that say the capitol loves prim: well, the capitol loved cinna too, didn’t they? They were crazy over his designs. But that didn’t stop them from taking him and killing? him. hopefully not. Besides, the capitol kills innocent kids every day. I don’t the prez snow would be bothered by that much. The capitol citizens would proabably be in terror anyway about the rebellion and by that point would not care if some little girl died. but i would.

Reading these comments is making me sad. I don’t want anyone to die. I must say that I don’t think that any of us will really know what will happen till we read the book….but it is likely that someone will die.

Prim dyinng isn’t a good thought….but its plausible. SOMEONE has to die, but we are all expecting Gale or Peeta or Haymitch. Imagine what would happen to Katnis if one of the only people she loves dies? She would be furious- and it would convince her that she should fight in the revolution as hard as she can to avenge Prim.
Or Peeta or Gale could sacrifice themselves to save Katniss. It sounds like something they would do.

@LESLIE SC wouldn’t make Snow win. She would be hated by a bunch of people. I hate to say this, but yes I think Prim can die. Even though it would be awful and heartbreaking for Katniss she would know that Prim would want her to keep fighting and win the war. In the case of Peeta or Gale dying I’d say both will die. Peeta by the hands of the Capital to crush Katniss and Gale by fighting in the war. I am personally Team Peeta, but Gale is ok and I could see Katniss with either of them.

I think either Prim or Gale would die, because there has to be something huge to make Katniss really really mad. We all know that she wants to kill Snow, but I think something huge would have to happen. Haymitch might die, but I don’t think it will have as much emotional effect on Katniss. And there’s no freaking way that Susan Collins would kill off Peeta, because and of the fans would be so pissed off.

Obviously someone is going to die. It would suck if someone didn’t die, because then she would become another Stephenie Meyer (who always has to have a happy ending, yuck), and I would be forever disappointed. Honestly, I think Peeta, Gale, or Prim will die. Maybe Haymitch. She can’t really kill off Katniss because it’s in her point of view, so I definitely think someone close to her will be killed as a substitute.
I think that everyone saying “Oh she can’t kill off that character, because I would hate her forever and burn all her books” are overreacting. Let the author do what she wants. Burning books is awful as it is, and it certainly won’t bring back a fictional character from the dead. And honestly, after reading all of these posts, people have listed some many of the characters that “can’t die” that there’s no one left. And they can’t all live, not in a full-scale rebellion. Sure, if you don’t like the outcome of Mockingjay, you don’t have to support the series. But burning it? That’s a little dramatic and rude considering all the time Suzanne Collins put into the series, don’t you think?

like everyone has said, prim can’t die cuz she’s the reason katniss went in2 the HG n the first place. but that’s why prim should die. she was saved by katniss in HG, so prim might die to save katniss so she can save all of panem. that’s what prim would want, she’d rather die than be the reason Panem is still controlled by the capitol. and gale will be the one to die, sorry. peeta’s too big of a character and him and katniss r really getting along better. and katniss is realizing that she actually loves peeta and that it’s not all for show.

Ahhhh! Don’t kill Prim! Prim is the sweetest little thing and my fav character, other than Rue, of cours. Then again, it hurts me to say this, Prim is of no use to the battle that’s surely coming. What woul she do, distract the Capitol? Really though, she wouldn’t do much. But that wouldn’t mean it’s all for nothing, would it? Katniss would still hace the boy with the bread! I really don’t want her to die, but I think she will.
. Maybe they could take somebody else, take Peeta for example. Or Finnick. Or, or, I dunno. Not Prim?

I was happy that Katniss and Peeta ended up together, though I wish there was more of a better ending for Gale. I wish Gale got a job in District 12 so he could still see Katniss but also have another relationship with some one else. I was so sad, i cried, when Rue, Prim and Finnick died. I felt really sorry for mags too. I thought Cinna’s death was to quick and rushed for me.
Also, Katniss’s children should have been given names. I think the girl should be called Prim Rose and the boy Gale or Finnick If there was a third girl, it would be called Rue.
