Russian ‘Catching Fire’ Cover

Makes the book look too much like a romance novel.

Is that suppose to be Peeta and Katniss or Gale and Katniss?

Yeah, too romance-y… Even though it is a part of the book, it’s not that big a part to be the cover.

The picture’s gorgeous, though.

It makes it look waaaaay too much like a romance novel instead of what it really is. Yeah, the Hunger Games has romance, but this cover will totally (I’m speaking broadly, of course) turn off the guys.

I feel bad for them…THEY ARE ONLY ON THE SECOND BOOK!

What? Why would that be Gale? That’s silly. Of course it’s going to be the two main characters, Katniss and Peeta.

It is absolutely supposed to be Gale because his is a brunette…. And remember Catching Fire is the book where Gale and Katniss confess their love for each other. Yay!

It makes the book ONLY look like a romance novel though…. It’s not focusing on the bigger picture

Anyway, I don’t love it, but the picture’s gorgeous! It certainly makes the book look more Romance-themed then it is, but that could be both a positive or negative thing.

Cat Lady – here in Brazil we’re still in the first book. The brazilian publisher just released Hunger Games last month. I’m just impatient and am actually re-reading Catching Fire by now ;D

That doesn’t look like katniss or gale both have olive skin and black hair. Russia needs to read the books.

ok I just read what the Russians wrote as a synopsis on another site that goes with the cover it’s supposed to be Katniss and Peeta on the cover. Wow really.

I love the cover. But yeah the book is more actiony than romancy. Still, I think it’s gorgeous

I agree that looks too romance-y. If it were centered on the romance I’d be fine, but I just don’t think it fits with this one.

And, yeah, the cover is portraying the book as a romance, when it has so much more involved in it. Kinda weird, though, that The Hunger Games cover, you can tell, was drawn/painted, but this is like a real-life picture.
And the guy has dark hair, so I thought it was Gale… Maybe the dark-haired guy on the first cover WAS Peeta? I’m not sure. DX

If my parents saw me reading that… well, lets just say I’m glad I’m american. My parents would flip, even though I’m more than old enough to read romance novels, I have no history of doing so.

For a second I thought it was Gale kissing Peeta. Not a good image. I would be embarrassed to have to ask my parents to buy that book. OR to have it my where my brothers could see it.

I am a guy so I would TOTALLY not be caught dead anywhere near that. Sorry Russian dudes

Russian covers are almost always generic. Remember that.

I think it’s too love dovey. I like the American covers better (I haven’t seen any others) because it more represents the uprising of the rebellion, with the mockinjay becoming more alive. The story is only partially a love story, but this cover makes it look like romance is the only thing this the plot has to it, when actually it’s much more. Also, the American cover appeals more to boys. I don’t think boys would be caught dead in front of their man friends reading a book that has people kissing on it.

I just want to know why they’re all wet. They aren’t all wet when she kisses Gale, and they’re not wet when she kisses Peeta. Hm?

It looks like Gale and Katniss (which is fine by me ), but it doesn’t look like a dystopian sort of novel taking place in a ravaged North America ruled by a cruel, evil Capitol. Nope, it looks like a romance novel. Something I wouldn’t read.
But I have. Because America’s cover is so much sweeter! And the covers tell a story.

woww. i feel really bad for russian guys, im a guy & i wouldnt ever read it if that was the american cover lol and i dont know if whoever chose the cover was even thinking if it was gale & katniss or peeta & katniss,, really its impossible to tell, since theyve russian-ified them >_< lol

I don’t like this cover at all, it gives a completly false idea about the book. These are harsh books, not sappy romance novels. If i had seen Catching Fire with this cover I probably would not have read it.

It has really nothing to do with the book! It makes it look like it’s all a romance novel.
