I like her. her face really looks like it could work for katniss, she also has that edge that is needed for the role, however is is young so the age might impact the choice, however she is 13 now and the movie might not get going until one or two years have pasted, and she will be closer to the age. of course she would have to dye her hair, but i think her face has it. whom ever ends up playing Katniss i pray that it is NOT a big hollywood name yet I’m hoping that they get actors that no one has really seen.

Didn’t realize she was that young, so Chloe as Prim or Rue would be a better fit. The actress for Katniss has to be something special though. Olive colored skin and grey eyes, so a bit of a mediterranean look to her, which doesn’t sound like Kaya.

So many of you are saying NO, but have you seen her in Kick-Ass? She is anything but a sweet little girl. These pictures do absolutely nothing to show what she could be like in The Hunger Games. Please, go look up the trailer for the movie Kick-Ass before you speak. Critics said she absolutely stole the show in that movie. I, for one, am 100% fine with her playing Katniss, but I’ll be excited about whoever gets the part.

When I heard this news I instantly thought NO, SHE CANNOT BE KATNISS, and I still think that. In my opinion, she would make a very cute Prim, and like others have suggested, I think she would be a perfect Madge.

I definitely think Kaya Scodelario would make the perfect Katniss. SHe’s the perfect age, and she has the look. I don’t know if she’s being considered for the role or not., though.

I really hope they don’t choose someone like Kristen Stewart, although she wouldn’t be able to do it because her filming schedule is crazy busy this year, or Megan Fox – she’s not right for Katniss AT ALL.

@Gab; The reason Dan didn’t wear green contacts is because they bothered his eyes (they tried to have him wear them when the movies first started). Though they could’ve done something with special effects to make his eyes look green whenever there was a closeup of him. They better do that when Snape dies in the 7th book (because he tells Harry to look at him).

@Jessica, Yeah, I was just about to say that. Gab, they tried to give him contacts for Philosopher’s Stone, but they made his eyes tear up. He is actually wearing them for the last scene of the first movie because that was the first scene they filmed.

And I think Chloe Moretz would be great for Madge. In my perfect cast, Katniss will be played by an unknown actress and i just don’t see Chloe Moretz as Katniss. This said, I do think out of all the people suggested so far, I think Kaya Scodelario is the best for Katniss. But guys, you’re forgetting a bunch of things about the books. Rue has dark skin. Katniss has olive skin and black hair. Why are people suggesting someone with blond hair and white skin for her? I don’t know if Hollywood makeup would work to make someone like Chloe Moretz look like Katniss. Why would it be a problem to find someone who actually looks like Katniss? Also, the actress who plays Katniss can’t be too old-remember, Katniss is not big for her age and she is almost starving. I think I can see it. I saw her in Kick-Ass and she was really good as a tough girl. When casting finally starts she’ll be old enough.

My only problem (the other would be fixed simply with hair dye) is that she’s a bit paler than I would have expected for Katniss.

But, HELLO to the people saying she could be Rue. Rue is Black. As in the DARK BROWN SKIN described in the book.

Sorry, it’s just that this book has diversity in it and people don’t seem to get that with their “imaginary castings”. It’s annoying. I just hope there’s no race!fail with this movie.

Oh MY GOSH PEOPLE!!!!! First of all Suzanne Collins, and Mockingjay.net said so themselves that the movie is expected the release of the movie to be early 2011!! The script is done, they’re looking for a director, casting will take place in October\November, and then they have all of the rest of November, and December to film and produce!!! Also if they need more time, they can take up January and February, and then the movie will be ready for March!!!! IT CAN BE DONE!!!!! She would be too young still to be katniss! Not that she isn’t a great actress…there’s just an age difference. I don’t think she should be Kilmer either, because Glimmer is obviously older than her plus, in the interview Katniss describes Glimmer’s personality as sexy, she is wearing a low cut dress, I don’t think a 13 year old should be wearing that. However, she could work as Madge or Prim, because she is closer to their ages and fits their description.

YES, Chloe Moretz as Katniss. I’m agree. Nowadays physical appearances doesn’t be the main priority for casting (Vampire Diaries, etc). They prefer to look at acting ability first. After that, they’ll work out the makeup if necessary (tanning, dyeing, etc).

There is one huge reason why Chloe should not play Katniss:
All of the actors that have been fan favorites for Peeta (Alex Pettyfer, Lucas Till ect…) are all atleast 7 years older than her! And if none of those people are cast, than the actor will probably be around the age of 18-20!!! Could you imagine a 13 year old having to do make-out scenes with someone 5 to 7 years older? Bleck! It would be extremely hard to fake a romance with a good looking guy that is older than you. I’m the same age as Chloe and just thinking about it makes me nervous.
