well katniss never really chose peeta. he was the only one in district 12 to choose. and she’s a hollow shell of the real katniss. and she doesn’t even seem happy with her kids. and i wished prim had a rue moment with katniss. like katniss at her grave or something singing a song and leaving a primrose or dandelion. R.I.P. prim!

So… at the start of chapter 25 I was just in a kind of daze, waiting for Prim to walk through the door, because PRIM CAN’T DIE! SHE JUST CAN’T! But on the line,’My mother buries her grief in her work’ I realised that Prim had actually died. That was the moment where I started crying. My brother and parents shot me some really worried looks and I blubbered to them that Prim had died. They, having no idea who Prim is, left the room. It then took me a long time to read the rest of the book since the words were all blurry. Last night I spent the entire night playing solitaire on my bedroom floor, trying to wrap my head around the fact that Prim had died.

Though I see most of you have read it. Was anyone else thinking that Katniss’s “mission” was pointless? I mean, the rebels would’ve gotten to Snow anyway in the end. Finnik shouldn’t have died and I felt like lots of the things that happened were not given the same attention I was used to from the first two books. Every major thing happened in only a few phrases…

I actually knew Prim was going to die because I had a feeling but the thing that made me cry the most is when Buttercup came home from 13… but one thing I missed the most was Peeta and Katniss scenes. where Peeta told Katniss he loved her and Katniss feeling that warm feeling inside… .and there was only one scene like that and that was at the very end! I wish there were more scenes like that and I knew there were going to be a lot of deaths but I didn’t expect that much!
Then Effie pops up all happy and bouncy as ever going IT’S A BIG BIG DAY! for some reason I felt like slapping her…… overall I loved the book MJ but there depression lingers through me everytime I think about the book…. I have the UK version of the cover so after I finished it and it was about midnight I just lay there in my bed studying the bright colours and stroking the book.I’m stroking it right now….. I’m deeply sad and disappointed because the trilogy has come to an end and there wont be anymore books. But the epilogue, hmmmm at the end it says
But there are much worse games to play
does it mean exactly what it says or is there another meaning to it?

@samanthathecherry, I partly agree!! It was kind of annoying me how Katniss was mostly unconscious when important things happened and then woke up in hospital and summarised what she’d been told… Happened WAY too much. I think the climax was meant to be when she was to execute Snow, but it over too quickly to sink in. That’s me anyway…
@rokku, I agree!!!! Had to reread things to get their full effect. Like Finnick’s death. And that brief sentence at the end about Finnick and Annie having a baby… Where did that even come from??????!
ALSO, feel like we’re still left wondering about Madge and why exactly she gave Katniss the pin. I guess we’ll never know what her intentions were and if there was an ulterior motive.
Overall, I still loved it! I think the fact that it didn’t end the way people wanted it to, and that it wasn’t this perfect ‘Happily ever after’ tale made it more ‘real’ in a sense. Especially the irony of Prim dying when this whole thing started from trying to protect her. Leaves everyone wondering if it was really worth it.

Ive read mortal instruments and i liked the firs tine but not the second 2 and really not the last one. Im not going to read the rest of the series.
B ut i thought mocking jay waa pretty good. It’s just that everyone had different things they wanted to happen and sc can’t satisfy e eryone. I didn’t cry, i almost never cry in books, but i w as pretty darn close. SPOILER! Did anyone else feel bad for the prep team? And how they were getting weird lookspoor Octavia “it’s meant to be pretty” that made me sad. But then poor prim….and fin nick….and we never got an explanation for cinna!!!! Bu t overall i loved it.

okay so i needed a place to say my thoughts about mockingjay, so here goes: (SPOILERS OBVIOUSLY 
)
Did anyone feel a little empty in the end? I was team Gale since hunger games and i’m fine with her choosing peeta, but i think gale didn’t get the ending that he deserved. He was by katniss’ side since they were young and he helped her grow. And all she could say was that he was in district 2, probably kissing some other girl?! I get that she is emotionally hurt and won’t forgive gale for what happened with prim, but i thought there should have been a formal goodbye. I just don’t feel closure yet. Besides that, im glad katniss chose peeta because only they would understand how each other feels. Obviously gale has known katniss since she was a child, but peeta made a bigger impact on her. They are both damaged and they need each other for consolation. Another thing that bothered me was that she ended up having kids, which she stated she would NEVER do. But I realized at the end that she felt okay with doing the one thing she feared most; having kids in the messed up world she lived in. She felt closure. Just my opinion though

In all the books fire is such a big concept. I mean Katniss is “The girl on fire”! And then in the end she REALLY is “The girl on fire”. Her (and Peeta’s) whole body burned except for her face..
I think that was really clever on SC part. I loved it..
And I agree with everyone that the ending made me feel really hollow. It was like Katniss and Peeta were broken beyond repair and were holding on to eachother.. I liked that but there are still so many quistions unanswered and I really HATED that Finnick died. If I had to describe Mockingjay in one word it would be “Tragic”.. Such a sad ending *sigh*
