When we asked last week who’d make the perfect Katniss, we got inundated with responses. What’s more, lots of you cast the rest of the books as well. As for myself, I’m still dithering over Katniss since it’s the most critical role (and the one that would be easiest to screw up–get Katniss wrong and none of the movies will work). In my mind’s eye she’s like a young Lisbeth Salander, wiry, dark, and fierce. Maybe Saoirse Ronan with dark hair? I’m less conflicted when it comes to Peeta (Lucas Till) and Gale (Drew Roy). But I have no idea how to choose among the actors suggested for Haymitch and Effie. In their own way, each one seems pitch-perfect.
So, Hunger Games fans, cast your votes! We’ll put up our results later in the week.

Out of all of those Kaya is the only one I’d be able to live with playing Katniss. Emma Watson, has major associations with another franchise. As does Alexandra (and I don’t think she’s a very good actress anyway). Demi Lovato? I’ve never even before seen her optioned as Katniss. And Saorise is a good actress but I just really don’t think she fits. I vote UNKNOWN!

I’m all for Alexandra she’s been the best Katniss for me, for a while now. I don’t really get Emma Watson as Katniss all though I really like her as an actress. I actually hope they cast an unknown girl who’s the perfect Katniss. But for know I choose Alexandra.

Out of all of them I kind of see Katniss in Kaya but just a little tiny bit. For Peeta I chose William I really picture Peeta like William. As for Gale,I don’t like any of them but Gaspard. I see him kinda as Gale but I really like Kevin Zegers for Gale more.

I vote for an unknown for the role of Katniss. This person has to be smallish and lithe. For the movie to be believable for me, the three main actors would have to be around the same age as their characters, so a 24 year old playing Gale or Peeta, even Katniss would destroy the movie for me.

I would be happy with Kaya as Katniss. She doesnt fit the role physically perfectly but im sure makeup would make her look awesome. As for Peeta, lots of those listed are way to old, the casting director should hold auditions in Australia for him 1 in every 5 guys here have his look.

May I point out, too, that although Katniss has Grey eyes, she says herself they look closer to brown. People are picking people with bright blue eyes cos they say they’re “grey”. Gah, I’m in a mood today.

None of those actresses look much like I pictured Katniss to look like, but I guess to me it doesn’t matter as much how they look because they can always dye her hair or give her colored contacts, to make her look more like Katniss, but if she isn’t able to do a good job of playing her the movie will be no good. The only actresses that would really have a problem with are Demi Lovato and Emma Watson. Demi Lovato is too well know for her work with Disney and i doubt that I would be able to take the movie seriously if she was Katniss. If Emma Watson was Katniss everyone would already know her as Hermione, I think that the actress playing Katniss should be unknown.

I think that looks wise Kaya suits the role. However, some people are saying that she cannot act which is more important I think. I don’t want another Kristen Stewart ruining this series as well. (just my opinion)

Who on earth decided Demi? i agree with Lauren! i like Nina she’d be good i think, but idk. i suppose if i had to choose i’d pick Kaya. she kinda looks the part and i haven’t heard of her. As for Gale? NOT Gaspard. NO NO NO! i think Drew Roy is more the type i mean olive skin tone, dark hair, kind of light eyes. Anyway, Peeta is either Alex Pettyfer or Hunter Parrish. but i’d pick Hunter because Alex rem inds me of Jace Wayland from the mortal instruments haha. plus Hunter is kind of adorable in the Peeta essence. As for Haymitch ha definatly Robert Downey Jr. that is just too hilarious Hugh would be good to but i just love Robert Downey better. Effie should be Kristin Chenoweth haha she looks the part, and i think she would bring humor to Effie:)

@mrs. peeta mellark, I totally love your choice of adam gregory for gale. I have never seen him in anything but when I saw the picture, all i could think was perfection. He is practically what I see in my dreas. I don’t know if he can act or not, but if he can act as good as he looks, I’ll take him. Everything I see for Peeta has been a little iffy, and trust me I have looked at a lot of options for both Peeta and Gales. But if I had to have my feet put to the fire I would pick William Moseley.

Out of all of these, I really think Kaya looks the part. However, while Kaya, in my opinion, was a good Effy, I don’t know if she’ll pull off the accent. They need to find someone who can act AND looks the part, though. That’s what made Harry Potter a huge success. I just hope they take their time with casting.

Once again KAYA SCODELARIO. who else?? 1. she resembles Katniss
2. she is 18 which is good since she is pretty short and Katniss is 16 in the first book and 17 in the other 2. So its pretty close.
Besides some of the other girls are like in their 20′s which if you ask me is WAY too old to be Katniss. Please pick KAYA SCODELARIO. And btw i don’t picture Katniss with a southern accent. That would be wrong.

I don’t like any of these actresses for Katniss. The only person that I could see playing Katniss a little little little bit is Nina Dobrev because she is the only one who actually has OLIVE skin like Katniss.

Honestly I would like a fresh face to portray Katniss. To me it would give us a fresh start on someone new and instead of going off of someone famous already but if it were to be an already familiar face than I would have to choose Kaya Scodelario. I also APPROVE THE POLL RESULTS FOR EFFIE! Kristin Chenoweth! YES YES YES! That would be awesome!

Actually I don’t like the other three either. None of them have her face. They’re all too sweet. I can’t /stand/ the girl on the top left. Everytime I try to watch Vampire Diaries I have to stop because I can’t take her acting, but I’m sure she’s a very sweet girl. Definitely not the girl from the Lightning Thief- she wasn’t good in that movie. I want someone completely unknown. If not, I think Demi would be the best choice- if need be.

i like nina and the bottom middle girl, but i loove the bottom left girl!! she’d b perfect look at her eyes and hair!! awsum!! the only problem now is… can she sing? ik thats not very important but they do make a pretty big deal about it. oh well, i guess they could really produce the voice or, if it came to it, just have a really good singer do it and the actress could lip sync. ik im making a pretty big deal out of something that doesnt matter much but it just came into my head.

I’m NOT a Demi Lovato fan, by any means, but the only reasoning I can see in her consideration, is that Katniss is supposed to be able to sing and the birds stop in the trees. An actress who can sing, versus one they have to dub would be an asset. Not that Demi is that actress, but just a thought. USAToday is suggesting Chloe Moretz from Kick Ass as being in the running for Katniss, and though she’s young, with dark hair, I could see her in the role. She could grow into 3 films without aging out, and she’s not attached to another major franchise.

No one in the comments has mentioned Saoirse Ronan AT ALL! i think she’d be great! don’t judge just based on the pic that they have. If you look in to her she has a VERY impressive resume–the type of work that would make her fit for the part. i think she’d be PERFECT! just dye the hair (which is NOT a big deal at all) and i think she would look perfect for the part. she’s exactly how i imagined Katniss.

I DON’T WANT HUNGER GAMES TO BE A MOVIE! There is NO way anyone can live up to my expectations, or play any of the characters. I don’t want actors playing them haha, I want it to stay in book form! Although reading it, I thought this would be an amazing movie, I just cannot picture it. It will ruin it 
I think it’s because no one can play Katniss or Peeta in my opinion. But I will say I can picture Steven Strait as Gale. I picture Haymitch looking like that skinny tall guy from the Aristocats with the newsboy-ish hat.
(None of those choices for Katniss are the right Katniss. Nobody could play her or Peeta!)

Okay, Devi Lovato, the little prissy princess, would most definitely screw this movie up 100%.
Emma Watson is WAY TOO well known, and face it, even though I love love love her in HP, a British girl, and one way too pretty for Katniss may I add, playing her? Uh, no.
The girl who played Annabeth in the Percy Jackson movie, can’t remember her name, would be a nice choice.

Lulz, Demi Lovato as a choice strange O_o
But hm, out of all these actresses I don’t know, and since the movie makers are trying their best to have the movie live up to its potential, I suppose Katniss would end up being someone Katniss looking.
Peeta mentions that in Mockingjay, I’ll pretty much sum it up so nothing can be spoiled that Katniss wasn’t really big looking or pretty on the eyes (minus the fact that her prep team can make her hollywood gorgeous for one) but I pretty much voted for Kaya because I wanted to. Also, some of the actors to choose from for Peeta and Gale are… really older than their age range, like on actor is 40. O_o Again.
