Jennifer Lawrence Talks ‘Hunger Games’ Audition: ‘The Most Terrifying Thing’
Jennifer discussed her role and audition with Ryan Seacrest! “I read them a while ago and was obsessed with them, to put it lightly,” Jennifer admitted. “Hopefully we’re going to make a good movie.” “I did this really long improv with Gary Ross—the director—and it was the most terrifying thing of my life,” she said. “When I left, and when I heard it went well, I was like, ‘Are you serious?’ I had my heart in my throat the entire time. I haven’t been nervous at an audition in so long, but that one got me.”
She DID read the books! I love her for Katniss. She seems so down to earth and sweet!

I was really really worried when they announced Jennifer as Katniss….but now, after hearing Suzanne Collins testifiying about how great she was, and hearing this interview, I actually think she’ll do an awesome job! She sounds so sweet, I can’t wait to see her in the movie!

I really like her speaking voice. It sounds like how I imagined Katniss, sort of. She seems sweet.

besides that, i think she’s gonna be good for the role. for one thing, we now know that she was a fan of the books before the movie offer.
She’s… there are too many words. Extraordinary, sweet, great actress, perfect, wonderful, down to earth, fantastic, beautiful, and bad-arse… you can pick which one you like best. She’s going to blow us all away.

I love her even more as Katniss now and why must Lionsgate make us wait so long for any news about Peeta? I prefer Lucus Till or Hunter Parrish.

She read the books, she got the audition, she talks in a form just like Katniss Everdeen would, she can sing, she can act and play the part, Gary Ross & Suzanne Collins both like her. She limited herself to this one movie, and she wrote a letter… This is the best Katniss We Coukd Ever Find!
I still really don’t like her. I forgot to think about her voice and now that I hear it, she sounds about 35. This movie is going looking really bad right now. It’s “Twilight” all over again.

@Alina and Rachelle I’m pretty sure she would have gone through at least one audition process for THG by the Oscars…otherwise she swouldnt hve reacted so strongly when her mother basically indicated that Jennifer would be Katniss. And when Ryan Seacrest interviewed her on the red carpet and asked if she had any projects lined up, she said she had a “big break coming (her) way”. Since X Men had already wrapped filming by then, I assumed her “big break” would have been THG since her mom kinda spilled the beans earlier. This is all speculation from me though haha. Trying to piece the timeline together.
At the beginning I didn’t like her too much, but now I’ve began watching her interviews and her earlier projects and I think I’m “falling in love”
I totally hated Winter’s Bone, but recently I’ve seen Burning Plain and the movie is fantastic and she managed to become the star (although in a smaller role); one can see she has tremendous potential; she plays opposite Kim Basinger and Charlize Theron, but her role remains the most memorable of all.
Like someone said before me, I think her vice is a little to “mature”, but she can make it sound sweet if she wants. I liked the fact that she said she’s a bit “schizophrenic”, so she can embody extremely different characters and play very different parts. I love the fact that she can be a chameleon
Right now, I’m quite happy with this decision and can’t wait for Peeta to be found. Seeing the way they did it with Jen, probably they’ll go again with someone with a great personality and fabulous acting skills. Whoever they pick, I’m beginning to trust that they’ll come up with the best available option.

No dought she’ll be a good Katniss but i dont see it and it seems like im the only one here. I know she cant really control this but as a girl who is supposed to look 16ish and be hungry, her cheeks would be a little caved in and shed look young (not too young of course) But Jenifer looks her age and her cheeks arent caved in at all, i just dont know about her, i dont know how tall she is so i cant really say anything about that. all though the pic of her facing sidewways and theres all this fire around her, there she definitly looks like Katniss. But im still not in love with the whole idea of casting her.
i really honestly don’t care about her appearance, if jen does the best job as Katniss.
