Well if this is Peeta I’m not watching the movie i don’t want the perfect literary guy image to be ruined by a movie. Do all you want with a computer its stupid to place a guy that not only does he look like a HOBBIT he is not blond nor does he have blue eyes. :/ I was sure upset about the casting decision for Peeta. But a while later I came to the conclusion that this is how the movie’s going to turn out and I’ll just have to accept it. Sure he won’t be the Peeta of my dreams like Hunter Parrish, but the decison has been made so we’re all going to have to deal with it. And if the proffisonals believe that this is the right Peeta, then okay…i’ll just have to believe them.

Honestly, believe that the casting directer did a terrible job on choosing people by physical characteristics. But attitude-wise, they did a job well done, Josh Hutcherson may be a brown-headed fail of an actor, but he only is a people-person. He is very social and caring, like Peeta. It won’t take much to change his physical attributes, so that’s a plus.
However, Liam Hensworth is just an epic fail.

I hated the idea of Josh at first. I really did. But I watched interviews with him and I fell in love! Peeta’s charm is in his personality! Not his LOOKS! And I agree 100% with Josh when he says that he and Peeta share a similar personality! The guy is truly perfect, I think. Why? NOT because he’s hot or because he went from being an adorable child actor to a freaking hot teenager, but because he truly has the skill and know-how to portray Peeta as we all imagined him! Screw his hair color! They can DYE it! And screw his eye color. There’s these things called CONTACTS. I think Josh is perfect.

At first I didn’t like Josh either, but then I studied him and he looks perfect! He does look really good next to Jenn too, like they have natural Chemistry. Hunter and Jenn didn’t look good together. I think Josh will be great!

To anyone complaining about the fact that Josh is shorter than Jennifer: It’s not a problem. Promise you, it’s not. It is incredibly easy to use camera angles and other techniques to make someone who is short look taller and vice versa. If they could make Elijah Wood, who is 5’6″, look half the size of Ian Mckellen, who is 5’11″, in Lord of the Rings, making Josh look maybe 3-5 inches taller than he really is is not going to be an issue.

I totally agree with you. I know for most of you Josh isn’t your ideal Peeta, but we have to put all our trust in Suzanne. I’ll take her word any day, because she’s the one who truly knows the characters, not us, so we shouldn’t judge. He is absolutely growing on me. His interviews really show his charm and potential, plus he really is a good actor, he’s been in a good toss up of movies! Liam hemsworth is not a bad actor in my opinion, people probably just think that because he was opposite Miley Cyrus. The focus doesn’t need to be on physical appearances but more attitudes & acting capabilities. The people behind the film sat through a lot of auditions and pocked the neat fits and all we can do is sit back and anticipate the release of the movie.

He actually looks a lot like how I pictured peeta in the book. even before this picture, I could picture him as peeta really easily…. mainly because he is a GOOD ACTOR. He’s been in an oscar-nominated movie. He has experience. There’s no doubting this kid can act. I’ve never seen him in a romance role and I’m excited. I think he’ll pull it off wonderfully. I think we all need to calm down. Suzanne wouldnt ruin her own book. I think we need to put a little faith in the casting directors and just wait until we see some official pictures or footage. You’d be amazed at what make up and a hair crew can do. I’m sure if Suzanne doesnt like the way he looks theyll keep trying until she approves. Just wait until we see how they act in the part, then make your assumptions, because at this point in time, we have no idea what went on in the auditions. However, we do know that they did something pretty amazing to catch the attention and approval of not only the director, but Suzanne as well. You have to realize that both these men have auditioned with Jennifer, therefore they had the best chemistry, anything that doesnt look right can be fixed in hair and makeup. Have a little faith, I’m sure this is going to be an unforgettable movie.

Truth be told, Hunter Parrish was never my Peeta, and neither was Alex Pettyfer.
I don’t understand how people cannot absolutely fall in love with this guy. He has the ability to make you like him, just by opening his mouth! I’m sorry, but isn’t Peeta supposed to be able to do JUST THAT? I really and truly do not understand why people are so upset! How can you not see how perfect he is? So what if he doesn’t LOOK like Peeta?! If the person can make him look that good with photoshop, then just think what professional hair and makeup artists can do. Seriously, I am MORE than satisfied with this casting decision, just as I was for Jennifer Lawrence, and I will continue to defend them both.

Just putting it out there that I think Josh and Liam will be awesome. I’ve been watching a few interviews with them and I think both of them will bring the right energy and personality. I’m actually really excited. Who cares if they don’t look exactly like the characters. I would MUCH rather have someone portray the emotions and personality described in the books than just the physical description. @Erica – Why would they not make him blonde? Of course they will, the character is blonde. Actors have their hair dyed (or wear wigs) all the time to match a character. Characters don’t change to fit the actor.

I totally agree, I was a huge Twilight fan before the movies and once I saw the movie, and the awefullllllllllllllllllll acting choices & the terrible acting & directing, I knew the books had been ruined for good. and everyone can yell at me saying that your not a true fan of the books or whatever, but I don’t want to go out and support something that will probably ruin something amazing. I will wait untill i see who else is cast. If they don’t mess up Effie or Haymitch they could still save the movie.

I’m gonna be honest I HATED the descision at first but I saw this picture and watched a few interviews with him . My mind was changed completely! Josh grows on you, just like Peeta is supposed to. While I would have liked Lucas Till as Peeta , I think Josh will do a great job . I’m still a little worried about Liam Hemsworth. But this is set in stone so everyone needs to GET OVER the fact that the person they wanted as peeta didn’t get cast. At least TRY to get used to these actors being Gale and Peeta . Thank you, thank you to whoever made this picture! I was always rooting for Josh but I think when the hatred see this picture some of them will change their minds. Seeing him with blonde hair got me really excited! I am confident Josh can pull this off! The hair and the acting. This picture shows he can portray the way Peeta is on camera: confident and charming. And from watching The Kids Are Allright he can pull off the more vulnerable side of Peeta. I am so excited to see the movie start to come together!
I know a lot of you guys are really upset with he casting, but give him a chance. At least think about how awesome it is that we are living through the whole experience of the movie being made. I’m a Harry Potter fan and I remember the days when the movies were just starting and it was really fun to be a fan back then. So let’s all just be excited at how we have been following the books and now the movie since the beginning. (:

People who say it should have been Hunter [or frakking Alex] I feel like are just basing it off of looks completely. Too busy thinking with their personal desires than on who would play the part the best. Between Alex and Hunter, I’d say Hunter. But Josh is a good actor AND does look very Peeta-ish.
For those who oppose of Josh, you better just accept it now, it’ll be easier for all of you instead of just living in denial.

I don’t know… Face to pale, like when the Capitol might have taken him… Hair too blonde… It’s just photo shop so it’s not the real thing. I’m not sure, so far the castings have been turned the other way, so now if I want someone to get it, the person I wasn’t rooting for comes up. I warmed up to Jennifer pretty quickley, but Liam and Josh… I don’t know… It’s as if they chose them because A LOT of people know them, and think their Sooo Hott! Or something… Which I don’t. Personally, I would hate to see contacts on any of the actors, as they look pretty fake in my opinion, (don’t hate me for this but twilight makes me cringe.) I know the make up people will do what’s best, but I’m crossing my fingers for no contacts…

Oh my God, I just found out that I’m one of the LUCKY FEW who are perfectly HAPPY and content with Lionsgate’s casting decisions YAY!
I never would have thought of Josh on my own (I was team Lucas before), but once he was proposed, he became one of my favorites and I could totally see the boy with the bread in him. Honestly now, can you EVER imagine that Hunter would wait 7 years before gathering the courage to talk to the girl he loves? Hunter (and Lucas too) are that “hottest-guy-in-highschool-all-girls-swoon-over” type. They are gorgeous. Josh is handsome too, but in a less striking way. He’s that type of guy a mother-in-law appreciates . He seems reliable, kind, mature. And I truly believe he’s a great person in real life, not just on screen.
I really wish him the best of luck and I hope he’ll come up to my (and everybody else’s) expectations (Peeta being my favorite character in all known literature and I being a bookworm …).

And I think that Gale should be the real physically obviously HOT one. Peeta is cute friendly (yet inwardly angsty) HOT one. It’s not supposed to be as obvious on Peeta. Peeta is cute and soft and loving. Gale is though, outwardly angsty, and inwardly caring. They are polar opposites. Josh is the perfect choice for Peeta with Liam as Gale. Makeup just needs to do a dirty blond on Josh and he will be fine. Think Paul Walker dirty blond. Heck in the books Peeta was described as having ashy blond hair and ash blond is just a nice way of saying dirty blond. Josh as Peeta does need blue eyes though but blue eyes come in all shades so a darker blue wouldn’t be so bad or hard to believe. Josh is a decent actor so let’s have some faith about his casting and the movie as a whole.

Really nice! I can see this as Peeta, maybe after Portia is through with him, going to some fancy dinner in the capitol or something. Josh really wasn’t my first pick and as far as fan choices went I think he was a bit of an underdog, but well everyone else was there too, Hunter and Lucas and everybody, he had the best audition and the experts know best and he is Peeta now. At least we know he can act the part of Peeta and I dunno with the help of teehee, “stylists” of course he’ll look Peeta no probelem. Yeah, anyways this is some really nice work. LOVE IT!

I love him. Peeta is described as HUSKY. Out of all the guys they were considering, Josh is the closest thing to husky they had. Peeta is strong, that was one of the only things he had going for him in the games and Josh is strong. Hair can be dyed.
I don’t think that the eyes will be focused on too much. It’s a small feature that can be better expressed through text.
But I don’t know, I think he’ll really well.

Ok, upon sleeping on it and then seeing this picture I’m not as upset as I was yesterday about Josh playing Peeta. I know he can act, and I don’t doubt he’ll be able to bring Peeta to life on the screen. I just hope they get him a really good wig, or that he grows his hair out a bit. But yeah, I’m starting to be able to see it now.
Liam however… I’m trying not to think about it too much until I see him in costume, and I’m not going to watch any other movies with him so that when I watch HG that will be my first time seeing him. He is the perfect Peeta, acting-wise. It matters not how he looks, because I’m sure you’d all rather have a great actor as Peeta who doesn’t fit the description than one who fills the description perfectly but is a terrible actor. Right?
And anyways, we all had different mental images of Peeta. Josh fits mine perfectly. while he is completely different looking in my best friend’s eyes. The only people who’s ideas matter are the author, casting director, and director (and a little of the producer’s).
No matter what any of you say, the decision is not going to be changed. So instead of moping around and feeling sorry for yourselves, try to look on it more positively, or stop complaining and leave.
