I’ve never had any sort of problem with Jenn ever since Lionsgate announced that they desperately wanted her for the part. I really think she could pull it off.
Besides, as long as they keep the CHARACTER the same and true to Books!Katniss, then I could care less about what she’s “supposed” to look like, weight and all.

I think she’s going to look great as Katniss. I’d rather have a good actress who sort of looks the part than someone who looks exactly like hKatniss but cannot act. Besides, the clothes they wear (in general) are not form fitting in THG so the constume designers have enough llway to work with! Yay Jen!

@Waverly It’s Maxim, not Playboy. Maxim is not a bad magazine. Plus, she didn’t pose for anything for Maxim, she is just on a list. Jennifer Lawrence is 20 years old, she can do whatever she wants. Posing for Maxim wouldn’t make her a bad person. People who comment on this site need to grow up and get over things.

Jennifer will NEVER be Katniss. In order to be Katniss, she would need to lose like, at least 20 lbs, dye her hair and skin, and have facial reconstruction, not to mention some way to make her much shorter.

I rather have a good actor with some flaws compared to the book’s description than someone who looks EXACTLY like her and is gonna screw up the character within.

OK, seriously, dye her skin? Can we please get over these misconceptions about her skin color?

Katniss and the other people from the seam are described in the book as having an olive complexion. This is most commonly found in people with mediterranean backgrounds, people from Greece, Italy, Spain etc. It’s basically a fancy way of saying their skin is a little less white than other white people.

Anyone living in a place like District 12 will have a slightly darker skin tone, they spend lots of time outside, surrounded by coal dust. Coal dust gets in everything hair, skin, clothes–everything. Over time, it permanently discolors the skin as well. We don’t worry about that if we live in a coal mining area because there are environmental standards that keep the air clean.

In District 12, those standards certainly didn’t exist. We can also be sure that bathing was not a daily occurrence.

People from the seam will obviously have a darker skin tone for a multitude of reasons, but District 12 is Appalachia. Has anyone ever been to Appalachia? I challenge you to find one non-white person there. Insinuating that her portrayal by a white actress is incorrect makes no sense at all.

I get what people above are trying to say. We like/love Katniss and we wish we could like/love Jennifer just as much. But the reality is, they may be similar in some respects, but they will never be the one and same (except for those 2 hours that will make up the movie).
I was a Hailee fan too and it hurt me when she wasn’t picked. Being younger, she still has that pure appearance and way of being, just like Katniss. You cannot appear sexy or naked on screen or in magazines when you’re 14, it’s against the law. But when you’re 20, you’re legally entitled to do almost anything with your body. I admit, i don’t like it either. It’s so “Capitolish”, like someone above said. because that’s what they do to people. They try to make them appear beautiful and use them for their looks, not giving a dime for their soul. That’s how shobiz and Hollywood works too. It’s all about glamour, and sometimes talent doesn’t even matter; it’s only the money they make.
When they picked Jennifer, she was still partially an unknown. In a way, I still hope things could be so now. I know we are hungry for news, we feel the need to find out more about the book and the film and everyone involved, but still… I wish at the same time that they would have more privacy. And keep their mystery. In a way, remain unknowns…

PEOPLE this is old news! She cast months ago! Just accept it already. Complaining about it will get you nowhere.

To all the people that are complaining about her posing for magazine’s in ‘racy’ clothing and for ‘racy’ magazines, most magazines are planned several months in advance. So she’s likely to have done those photos well before she got the role of Katniss.

I don’t think it’s “Capitolish” at all, she’s NOT in character 24/7. So for people to say that just irritates me to no end. We are looking at photos of JENNIFER NOT KATNISS. If you don’t like the seeing the photos then don’t look. And, she’s freaking 20 years old, she can do whatever she wants. It’s not like she’s underage.

What i ment by saying that it covering magazines los capitolish is just that covering magazines looks capitolish! My words don’t have any secret message or something.
