Lionsgate has confimed this report is not true:
L&S reports that to make the first movie a bit more interesting, “scenes have been added in to give the heartthrob a larger role on-screen and make the love triangle steamier and a bigger aspect early on in the franchise.”

I agree what u say RWC like Gale could not have voulnteered 4 Peeta cuz him and Catnip made a promise 2 take of each other family. Also “Always” Peeta do u remember in Mockingjay when GALE went 2 go save Peeta from the Capitol and Catnip (BTW srry bout the Catnip stuff it a habitat) though she was going 2 lose both of them. Gale went 2 go save him. That is like the most heroic thing ever going 2 save ur rival 4 the girl u love. And I know Gale said he started 2 love Catnip 6 month before the reaping, HOWEVER it take time 4 some1 2 muster the courage 2 understand there feelings 4 some1. I mean look at Peeta it took him what 11 years 2 tell Catnip he loves her. And 2 be dumped in The Games. U c what I mean. Suzanne Collins could have wrote a happy ending 4 ever character, I do not know y Catnip and Gale could have still been friends.
@”Always”-Peeta (Mockingjay) (Could your name be any longer
)
I am way a Peeta fan too. I always thought that Katniss just felt obligated to Gale. They knew each other for so long and became a team to help their families. I think she acted out of guilt because for one, she was a victor and could take care of Gale and his family and not worry about Peeta having enough to eat. I don’t think she truly loved Gale. SHe never had that hunger when she kissed Gale, like when she did when she kissed Peeta.
Peeta is her true love
dude, stop making it like twilight. -_____-
@RWC, I know, post people just use “Always” Peeta or just “Always”
Yes, that exactly what I was trying to get at. When Gale would kiss Katniss or tell her he loved her, she usually got…. Oh, I don’t the word….. Frusterated? Anyways, she got kind of upset because it ruined their “friendship”. She didn’t want to “Love” him exactly, but obiously he loved her.
@Taylor, yeah, I guess your right, they were both willing to die for her, I woudnt mind more Gale. I think it would be if they kind of developed his character a little more in the movie. I think they were going to anyways, since it wasn’t going to be through Katniss’s point of view. There will definatly be more Gale and I wouldn’t mind it. He’s a good character and has been through alot like Peeta.
uggg, no more romance! The book isn’t really about that anyway.
@ Bethany
put it:
I like how Renee Pauline
“Collins has a big hand in the movie, but in the end she doesn’t have the final say. Even Gary Ross doesn’t have the final say. The people with the money, the corporation (Lionsgate) behind this film, are the people who have the final say. So no matter how much influence SC or Ross has, they’re not the final word on any matter in the film. If the execs want to milk the “steamy romance”, then the people actually making the film don’t have much of a choice. We’ve already been very lucky with SC having such a huge say in the production of the film, but that doesn’t mean that she’ll have free rein over everything.”
Collins can’t control the movie. If they want steamy, they’re going to get steamy.
The “Love Triangle” was not a big part of the story. It was there to illustrate Katniss’ naievete, and not much else. If they leave out the big themes of this story in order to focus on a bunch of pretend teenagers getting it on, I will boycott the entire series.
These movies have a real chance to send a message. If they piss that chance away I’m done with the whole thing.
Honestly, isn’t there enough romance in the books? This is not Twilight or the Notebook or something. this is the HUNGER GAMES and if they make it some gooey sparkly vampire like film, i’m gonna sue! jk on the sueing thing, but you know what i mean.
i don’t mind… as long as they do a good job
one word for this. NO. period i’m done stick to the book or people wont actually read the books. They would rather see the movies and say that the books are less dramatic. I mean common, I agree with OMGA. She has a good point they made twilight such a bad movie people didn’t even dare read the books after they saw the movie. So that’s all i’m gonna say. Peace out.
OMG!!!! I LOVETHIS PICTURE SOOOOOO MUCH!!!!
ok seriousely? this is ridiculous! the books were successful enough with just a few romantic scenes, so why do they have throw a bunch of junk in the movie? this is just not right!
This is ridiculousness!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All the world wants now is perverted scenes in movies. por que??????????????????? stupid thats all I have to say.
This is a silly rumor. If anything I think Gary ross is planning exactly the opposite. It would be very out of character of a director like him and with the peeta and katniss he chose.Once he chose Jennifer he could’ve chosen an actor that would look like an incredibly love interest to her, with a lot of chemistry like kristen stewart and robert pattison. Patisson was chosen because he auditioned with kristen and the director realized that they had an amazing chemistry. Even before twilight was out you saw picture of the couple and they really looked like a good couple, their facial features compliment each other.
Josh and Jennifer are not a good couple at all, surely lionsgate has their PR and marketing experts that can tell them how the market would react to a couple like them. I might be mistaken but I think Josh and Jenn were selected because they came for oscar nominated projects not because they look good as a couple, maybe josh didn’t even audition with Jlaw. So, no I don’t think we are at risk of the formance being beefed up, I think we are at rist of the opposite which would be bad too. I want the movie to be faithful to the book and if they effed or beffed up the romance they wouldn’t be true to the book. I’m not confident that they will manage to do this properly.
No. Just… no.
“The Hunger Games” is NOT a romance novel, it’s about a rebellious girl who is trying to take down that capitol. This is extremely disappointing- right when I though the movie might turn out okay, the throw this at me. I’m definitely not going to go see it now.
I Protest against a Sex Scene in The Hunger Games Movie! All who agree say AYE!
