there’s something I don’t understand… they say that the movie is coming out the same day worldwide but in my country movies come out on wednesday not friday… does that mean we’ll have the movie the wednesday before? like we did for Breaking Dawn

i find it hard to understand how you guys could find that many things that you find negative.

  3.
    Will

Yeah i agree,i felt like the first half of the episode was so negative i almost didn’t feel like watching it.A lot of nitpicking.

I don’t agree with katniss looking like prims mom at all and the whole trailer is NOT blue[The scene with katniss and gale are green, the capitol scenes have noticeable red, blacks, and yellows,& the last scene again is green).I highly doubt that the arena will have a blue hue all throughout since it takes place in the forest as well.

Also the mockingjay pin is from madges aunt that died in the hunger games not madges mom, though i will say i think it is so much more meaningful that the pin comes from prim because it is eventually the symbol katniss is recongnized by.

The trailer was awesome!! No doubt. But I wanted Madge to give the pin to Katniss. It ruins the connectivity. Like it belonged to Madge’s aunt, a fellow district tribute to Haymitch in the 50th Hunger Games, and it makes more sense that Madge has it rather than Prim. And there’s no mention of Prim crying before the reaping.

When I saw the scene with Katniss and Gale with the hovercraft, I thought it was the scene with the discovery of the avox girl.

I loved the trailer and what I found kind of interesting was that every district had a different colour outfit for the games.
Also, I think Effie pronounced Peeta’s name like that because of her accent….

I have a theory about a couple of shots in the trailer, though they could be completely wrong:
-I think that the shot of Peeta’s interview with Caesar was taken after Peeta’s “big announcement”. The way Caesar is gesturing towards Peeta suggests that he was impressed by him in some way. Peeta’s expression is very vulnerable despite his ability to please crowds, so when you put the two together it seems that Peeta just made his confession, the Capitol reacted, and Caesar raises his arm and gestures as if to say “Isn’t this kid something?”
-Also the shot of Katniss right after the shot of Seneca Crane laughing could be her after Peeta’s confession, she has a very strong almost indignant look on her face. Also she is in her interview outfit, her hair is the same and you can see part of the red dress.
Who knows if these are true but it’s fun to analyze.

It was good, and you made good points. Just helping you guys out though by saying the scene with Marvel and cato in training next to them is clove.

I agree with the comments about how District 12 looks, it being too clean. I thought it would look a bit more industrial but I’m flexible when it comes to the scenery. The Square looks basically how I imagined.

I didn’t really agree with the comment about the woods being the same in District 12 as in the arena with the logic being “it’s in a completely different part of the country.” They never specify where the arena is. For all anyone knows maybe it was right on District 12s back doorstep lol.

I noticed the accent thing too. But then the only other people we hear are Snow and Cinna. Maybe their accents were just a fashion trend the Capitol people decided they should have, like having green skin etc. Cinna and Snow don’t really seem like people who care all that much for the fashion trends of the Capitol. Then again maybe they just decided to not do the accents except for Effie lol.

I don’t think Katniss looks like Prims mum, but even if I did, I have a reason why she would. It’s said over and over that Katniss was the one who took over the family after their dad died so why wouldn’t she look like a mum lol. Also she is wearing her mums old dress, supposedly, so technically it is a ‘mum dress’ :p

I clearly need to re-watch the trailer because I haven’t noticed any of the weird Capitol people haha.

THIS TRAILER WAS SO PERFECT AND EPIC! I totally disagree with what you said about Jennifer Lawrence. She looks PERFECT! She is such a natural beauty and she is better fed than most people because she hunts. And the kids look perfect, especially the shot of Gale at the reaping, there is a boy next to him who looks very stick-straight. And what you said about the scenery being blue, I have no idea what you’re talking about. Also, I think district 12 looks great. Katniss is like a motherly-figure so there’s nothing wrong with that scene. You guys are really taking ‘the square’ way too seriously. You don’t even seem like real fans because one of you asked who was next to Cato, and someone said”Marvel, who is Jack Quaid” and then someone said “is that the actors name?” I can’t believe you thought Jack Quaid could be a tributes name. And another thing, you guys acted so surprised when one of you pointed out that the African-American people behind the screen were from District 11. That was so obvious to infer, and one of you thought it was District 12. I didn’t expect all your little nit-picking and negativity. And I disagree with all of your negativity. I would be more efficient at hosting this talk show.

    Will

I agree with jennifer c. i was surprised that you guys didn’t know that it was district 11 doing the salute after katniss did it.In the book there are only two times she does it,once before she goes off to the games and the other after rue dies, clearly it is district 11.

I thought the trailer was perfect.

    Patty

Just to add to the argument of the gesture being in District 11, the only time Katniss does it is when she’s in the arena. She didn’t do it before going off to the games, the people of District 12 did which makes it even more obvious that it is District 11 in the trailer.

The selection of clips was probably a bit blue, but I don’t think the movie will be like that. Also, with the comment in the podcast about the reaping clothes being all blue, if you pause at 30 seconds, I think I see a fair bit of dusty pinks as well, even if they do look grey in that light.

I LOVE how Effie’s hand waves around in the glass bowl – it emphasises how the Capitol is very dramatised and theatrical. Reminds me of the end of the novel when Peeta says: “One more time? For the audience?”

  15.

It’s not the whole film that’s blue. It was only blue when they were in the Captiol. When I watched the teaser trailer. I thought that the general colour of the film was green. This trailer just balanced it out. It was very green in District 12 and during the Reaping it was grey. When they were in the Capitol it was a mixture of blue, red, pink and white. It was probably just the lighting the people have in the Captiol that made it look blue.
In relation to the scene with Katniss shooting the pig, I presume that they used a clip when Katniss was training on her own but the Gamemakers were ignoring her but then they used the clip of Seneca Crane after she shot the pig and Katniss’s face at the same time so that it’s a surprise for the audience when they watch the film.

I loved the trailer, but I kind of enjoyed the nitpicking in this episode as well. Couple things.

I’m positive the shot of Peeta smiling in the background while Katniss looks over is of the scene from the book when Peeta points out Rue to Katniss, that she has a shadow. Loved it.

Also, Elizabeth Banks’ accent in the trailer may not have been how one of the ladies in the podcast (couldn’t tell who) imagined it, but it was pretty much how I imagined it. In the books, the accent was described as affected and sounds like all the sentences end in a question. I think Banks’ interpretation was excellent. Also, IIRC, the book also says in addition to not having crazy Capitol fashion, Cinna also doesn’t really talk that way. I’m expecting the other stylists to though. The only other Capitol person I heard in the trailer was President Snow, and he had a bit of a British accent, I thought, so perhaps the politicians and gamemakers may have a more muted version, and the stylists and Effie-type people (Cinna aside) would have the more exaggerated ones.

Lastly, I hope you guys read all the comments from last week’s podcast on Peeta! I added one late… :)

I think the trailer did its job. I was a huge Battle Royale fan and therefore abstained from reading THG for a while. Yep, I was one of those. I saw THG trailer the day it came out, bought the book the next day and now I’m one of the fans hoping Hollywood doesn’t mess this up. If the trailer can create new fans of the books, I’d say its succeeded.

Sidenote: I plan on going to the midnight premiere with a homemade Team PeeNiss shirt, because I have a feeling Hot Topic lacks the edge and sense of humor to sell such a tee.

I agree with the comments about Jennifer’s look. Unfortunately, she is NOTHING like how I pictured Katniss looking when I read the books: in fact, she’s pretty much the opposite in every way. BUT, in any book-to-movie translation, and for this character in particular, acting ability is far FAR more important than looks. And if we’re solely considering her acting, Jennifer is incomparable. She is unbelievably naturally talented and has a complete understanding of the character, making her the PERFECT choice for the role, regardless of what she looks like.

Love the show, hello from Australia :D

hi hunger games lovers!!!!the trailer :Jen doesnt…exactly look how i pictured but is close enough.everyone is different and we all picture the characters differently and there is NOTHING wrong with that .we just have our own imagination and thats what i love about books ,u can turn wordS on paper into a picture in your mind.to me everything in to HG trailer ,i pictured differently but thats ok with me and hopefully with you .the movies are never as good as books and everyone knows that and that is something that can NEVER change.the one thing i was disappointed in was Katniss’s dress.she cant maintain the image of the girl on fire if her first appearance is in a red dress ,but i think they can fix that with the fire cape(if that even happens)
p.s HAPPY NEW YEARS EVE EVERYBODY!!!!!!
