Last week, MTV asked readers to vote in a poll for which movie they were most excited to see in the upcoming year and The Hunger Games won!
Most Anticipated Movie of 2012: “The Hunger Games”
In one of the bigger upsets of these end-of-year polls, Katniss KO’d Bella (Batman, Spider-Man and Snow White, too). Not bad work for a character who hasn’t even been seen on the big screen yet. The approaching year is easily the most exciting in recent memory; when “The Hobbit,” “The Amazing Spider-Man” and a new Bond film don’t even crack the top three you know 2012 is shaping up to be a cinematic year for the ages. What’s more, the “Hunger Games” win has got to come as welcome news to Lionsgate as the studio prepares to launch a new YA-adapted franchise the same year as the “Twilight Saga” finishes up its box-office run.
For all of those who voted, good job! Polls like these are a great way to spread The Hunger Games popularity!

oh hell yes! The Hunger Games FTW!!!

Ok I love the hunger games, but this poll was unfair.
I mean think about all the other fan sites that didn’t promote this poll?
It’s more whichever fan site promoted the poll got the better result.
Completely unfair.

@FINNICKLOVER
how is it unfair? it’s not the poll’s fault if other fan sites didn’t promote their movies. and mockingjay.net didn’t promote the poll either but THG won because it has more loyal fans and it IS the most anticipated movie of 2012 ![]()

I remember on Tumblr people were saying to vote for THG. I think it probably would have been more fair if voting wasn’t unlimited. But I’m sure Twilight was pushing just as hard, since they got the other 40% or so of the votes to HG’s 47%.

it’s MTV, of course the poll is rigged. one person could vote any amount of times in one day, so it’s not like they were GOING for a fair poll anyway.
but that’s not the point at all. it’s not whether THG really gets the majority anticipation if you ask every single movie-going person on earth. it’s whether there is buzz for the movie. labeling it the “most anticipated movie of 2012″ may not be real, but we should still be happy that the fandom is strong enough to put the word out there that we expect it to be amazing. winning that poll, even if it’s not a realistic one, makes people take notice of the movie, even those people who are simply watching MTV for other reasons and knew nothing about THG before they caught wind of this. if the results of this poll, rigged as they are, can influence those people even the smallest bit to go watch the movie on march 23rd, then this is a win for lionsgate, and consequently, for us as a fandom.
this is not for us to get a “most-anticipated movie” medal that we can brag about to other fandoms. it’s to promote the movie. just like any other MTV marketing trick they’ve used in the past (VMAs, anyone?). if it works, then all the better for us.

Guys this list is from MTV so it’s not official and anything from MTV is not official. Clearly The Dark Knight Rises and The Hobbit are much more anticipated than this and will clearly make more money. But regardless I’m still excited
for THG

How are you hunger games fans if your upset it won this?? The poll is FAIR…fans of the other movies could have won just as much and votes just as many times…it’s THIER fault if they lost….
Just saying

HG fans voting over and over to get the results that it’s the most anticipated movie, only shows how excited we are for the movie. If twilight fans we’re excited for their movie, they would have voted over and over, in turn winning. But they didn’t. I think it’s fair.

If it’s from MTV it wasn’t going to be “fair” to begin with. Let’s just be glad that The Hunger Games won. The Hunger Games is one of the most anticipated films of 2012, as I’m sure are Breaking Dawn Part 2 and co.
I, personally, am way, way more excited to see The Hunger Games on the big screen than Breaking Dawn. In fact, I haven’t been a “devout” or “loyal” Twilight fan since Eclipse – then I realized I had more of a passion for Hunger Games and I like that.(:
Like it so much that every day I’m hoping for a new still or a date when trailer three will be up. Hope they show more of the arena in trailer three. Twilight fans, I believe, are just as dedicated. But I do think, in my opinion, The Hunger Games beats Twilight at everything. From the better actors, books, ect.
Katniss > Bella!

Okay everyone who cares about a poll,it comes down to The Hobbit. it will make more then any movie coming out. I careless about a MTV poll. It’s Peter Jackson film that will win out.
