I am still mad about Madge not bing in the movie. I realize that they wanted to build up the relationship between katniss and prim, but in catching fire katniss would’ve never found out about the uprising in district 8 if she wasn’t looking for Madge in the mayor’s house.

@VEELOX0: They’ll change that, it’s not really a problem. I’m glad they left Madge out, she’s not really important to the story. The only thing I found interesting with her, was her relationship with Gale.

@Kine Thank you! Someone who understands that Madge isn’t really that important. With Madge, the movie would be confusing. There would only be 30 seconds of her. And everyone who says Madge was Katniss’ friend? Not true. They barely talked. That’s not friendship.

I think Katniss will still see the uprising at the mayors house while getting ready for the victors tour in Catching Fire

I think Madge is being left out, especially with the tension between Madge and Gale.

I wonder how long they filmed for, and like did they do a little each day, or took breaks in between or what.

Katniss might only find out about the uprising from Bonnie and Twill and @anonymous- Katniss and Madge became better friends in book two… Besides remember how Katniss says that they sat alone at lunch together

    “Cinna gives Katniss the prim”….
I seriously almost peed my pants

i’m kinda mad about the Madge thing, it added more to catching fire with the maysilee thing, but whatevs. i’m not the director.

@Mariah Still, Madge was only mentioned once in each of the books compared to Prim. And it also said they never talked at lunch. And I’m pretty sure (of course this is my opinion) that Madge only really tried to become better friends with KAtniss to get to Gale.

    Who Said What?

In the podcast, you said the movie was 117 minutes which I heard too. But according to hungergamesdwtc.net, Lionsgate said the information was wrong…so hopefully that means the movie is longer!! :D

@Who Said What? I hope it’ll be 2 and a half hrs long. anything longer would be tiring but anything shorter would loose information

thank you for pointing out how entertainment tonight completely confused the plot of the movie with the whole “katniss and gale are fighting for their lives” thing; the mistake was GLARING and it’s been bothering me all week.

not just because of shipping, either. i know many people get testy about the love triangle thing– i’m one of them, usually– but i’m not concerned about that anymore, at least when it comes to the movie because i can see from the trailers and even the merchandise that they’re not trying to work the romance angle to attract teenage girls to the film. they’re making it about the games themselves and how the characters are touched by them, which is good.

but ET’s mistake does tell us that while lionsgate is doing good with the publicity, the media folks just aren’t doing their homework. since this series is going to explode soon enough and they know it, you’d think they’d have the decency to pick up the books (or at least THG, since it’s that movie that’s coming out soon) and get their facts right. but as it is, they couldn’t even do a proper wikipedia search for it.

it’s good in a way because it tells us fans which media outlets are reliable and which aren’t, but if it keeps happening, people who haven’t read the series and only know it peripherally are going to get confused. which sucks. they need to stop being lazy and do their job right.

I dont see how Catching Fire can be split into two movies but there is a good spot in Mockingjay. Right after Peeta is rescued and katniss runs to him and he turns on her. That is where it should be split. Lots of action before that point and good amount of tension between Katniss and Peeta after not to mention the rest of the story.

I wish that the movie would come out sooner. We’ve been waiting 3 years for this. The 45 days is going to be agonizing!

President snow, is “seen in the book” before the end, just after the opening ceremony he appears on his balcony, and greets the tributes.

    @anonymous- im gonna disagree…..

I don’t see how they can split Catching Fire because Catching fire (the first part) was SOOOO boring! and then the end was great.

Definitely they can do with one movie. Better pacing with the first half of Catching Fire and the second make it awesome and extended and good.

mockingjay could also just be one movie. but I can see it be two especially since Katniss just blanks out half the time, they can explore other perspectives, especially Snow and Peeta in the Capitol

Guys, just because two people don’t talk doesn’t mean they’re not friends. Katniss and Madge were more just silent companions. And we wouldn’t see Madge that much in the movie anyway, and I also guess everyone would hate her because she doesn’t have to enter the games. She’s a cool character but for now we can do without her, and she can always be brought up in the future. Besides, if Suzanne approved of it, there must have been good reasons behind it. We’re just going to have to wait to hear them. And great podcast guys :D really enjoyed it.

  21.

    Really really great podcast guys!!
In my opinion li like Madge but I don’t think she is an essential character to the series, I mean she can be easily replaced in catching fire when she tells katniss about the uprising. I agree with what you said about the actor playing Cato, I think he doesn’t look mean or brutal enough to play him. But I don’t agree that people will get him and peeta mixed up because they are very different looking and proper fans should know.
I also LOVED the new trailer and I got such chills in my spine whe Caesar shouted “Katniss Everdeen the girl on fire!” it was amazing!!
Please please read this in your next podcast, love you guys keep up the good work!! :)

It would be a bit unorthodox to separate the second book of a trilogy into two movies, but the more I think about it the more I’d prefer Catching Fire to be split rather than Mockingjay. In my opinion, Catching Fire has more material to build on. The victory tour and the militarization of District 12. There were so many interesting characters that were introduced, but didn’t recieve much attention. (ENOBARIA! The woman filed all her teeth down to fangs like Christopher Walken in Sleepy Hollow! I wanted to know more!!!) How Haymitch won his Hunger Games is also explained. I can see the flashbacks already.

Are they going to try to make three different movies or are they going to but them all in The Hunger Games? I hope someone know cause I really want 3 movies not one big one they will leave out to much detail I think.

    Nob Ody

OMG!!!! I cant wait 4 the hunger games to come out. I am like counting down the days. From now- about 2 weeks. That is wayyyy to long!!! Oh well. I am gonna see the midnight premiere anyways. I am a little mad about Madge being cut out because of the whole “Katniss have this pin” thing cuz is she gonna get the pin or what. Is Prim gonna give it 2 her. I am just wondering if Madge will be in any of the other movies

  26.

I wonder if the people in the movie post on this sight. Probaly not though they are probaly working on catching fire
