Grant Gustin Talks Fan Support For Him as Finnick Odair in ‘Catching Fire’ (VIDEO)

ClevverTV chatted with Grant Gustin about fan support for him as Finnick Odair – turns out he has loved the character for quite a while, and is going to try to get the part! What do you think, could Grant be Finnick? I think he could be great, the only issue is that since Jennifer and Josh aren’t actually sixteen, Grant could look too close to their ages and seem too young in comparison. Sound off in the comments!
I would like Joey Graccefa or Garrett Hedlund. And the book NEVER said he had red hair it said bronze

ehhh maybe… But fans really don’t have a say in who gets cast. A lot of fans wanted Kaya Scoldelario to play Katniss and that didn’t happen.
The producers and director make the final decision, and they go by talent, not looks.
Zac Efron definitely he has the looks, experience, and he would be the perfect finnick:)
Sigh this always happens…someone expresses interest and then there is support, then the person doesn’t get it, there is a protest, then people fall in the love with the person cast, and repeat. I don’t think people should get their hopes up until the final shortlist appears.
Grant as Finnick I can totally picture with a bit more muscle for sure. The first cast I was hesitant about liking but they turned out great so whoever they pick now (Efron excluded he is such a non-Finnick in my head) will probably do a great job too. My concern is with the shaky camera effect that did spoil the firts movie a bit.
HORRABLE FINNICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I CAN NOT picture him as finnick odair (my favorite character who they can NOT mess up). these are my reasons 1) he is NOT hot enough, he has to be hotter than liam (gale) and thats not happening with grant (and its hard to get a person hotter than liam) 2) i just cant see him as grant 3) hes the wrong age. jeniffer, josh and liam wernt even close the there characters age and hes i think looks the wrong age. then 4) he is NO WAY close enough to having enough mussle!!!!!!!!!! he would need to put on about 200 lbs of mussle cause he is like a TWIG!!!!!!! 5) he would need to tottaly change his whole look ( hair, really hot, lots of mussle ect.) as you can see he would the THE WORST FINNICK ODAIR EVERRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are completely basing it on how he looks. Thats not the WHOLE point and really guys, this isn’t a set in stone thing it was JUST a interview. And even if you don’t like him as Finnick you can’t change anything about it if he auditions and gets it. You CAN change how old someone looks on screen. I mean Jen is a lot older than Katniss but on screen she looked her age. Josh was perfect so it didn’t matter but anyway I think he could be a good Finnick if he put his mind to it and worked hard to portray the character
I don’t know who should play Finnick but I don’t really mind if he does. He’s pretty handsome, his voice is normal (how is this high ? o_o). Muscles aren’t a problem, he could build some more before the shoot. Finnick isn’t supposed to be some Jacob …(at least that’s what I remember from the book) 22 year old is old enough. Yes Finnick is a grown up man, but he’s still 24, and that’s young. He should be a bit muscular, but not bodybuilded. Anyway, let’s wait and see who they choose. People complaining won’t change anything.

No Way!!!! That would ruin Finnick, who is my fave character!! He looks too young and is NOT attractive enough, and not how Finnick is supposed to look. I hope they get a guy that has his eyes, or else they HAVE TO use contacts, because Finnick’s eyes are a thing in the book, and the end of mockingjay. Garrett Hedlund or Alex Pettyfer, even Zac Efon would be better than him!!!!
@Taylor; I sooo agree! Finnick is my fave character too, they need to get him just right, and this dude would really ruin him.
I like him in Glee and he’s handsome and all…but not Finnick material…
If they’re considering Kristen Bell for Johanna, than whoever plays Finnick must be in its late 20′s or early 30′s…
Also, hte looks are not even that important, (see Josh Hutcherson: he does NOT look like Peeta’s description in the book, but he nailed the role)but the guy who plays Finnick needs to be ironic-funny and also capable of making us cry our eyeballs off!
I think Ian Somerhalder would be a good choice…

if hes casted as Finnick , I’ll have a hard time watching the movie . Me, being such a strong Glee fan , i wont be able to picture him as anything but Sebastian . Although he may fit the description in Catching Fire , hes too young . may someone a year or too older .

I think he is perfect. He’s can pull of that devious side/look Finnick has, and with stage makeup they can transform him to look a bit older.
He may not be what some people imagined Finnick to look like, but we are all going to think differently. I thought Josh was nothing like how I thought Peeta should look like, but it’s all a matter of opinion.

I think he is the perfect finnick! I think armie hammer & zac efron etc are too old! He’s only meant to be 24 and he seems like someone who always appears young in the book! I think he’s looks like finnick would,just needs to dye his hair ginger;-)
I think with all the makeup and stuff they have now. That is age wouldnt be an issue. He is sooo cute. He is my picture of Finnick. Hes got my vote.!!
