NextMovie’s District 14 Catching Fire Wish List
Amanda Bell of Disrict 14 has posted up NextMovie’s wish list for the Catching Fire movie!
The Full Arena
The only person who might know what other miserable sections the full third Quarter Quell arena contains is Suzanne Collins. And since we hope she’ll have a heavy hand in drawing the blueprints for “Catching Fire” (see above), we also plea she’ll help surprise us with a bigger glimpse at the clock in motion. We already know about the lightning storm, blood rain, giant wave, evil monkeys, vicious insects and jabberjay sections, but what other atrocities did the Gamemakers cook up? Our fingers are crossed that the filmmakers will slip this into their plans for the movie.

I cant wait for the Jabberjay scene, I hope its full of action and stuff! And I can’t wait to see who plays Finnick!!

Glad to say that i am not worried about Finnick. Sorry to bring the Gary Ross situation up again, but if he is directing again, I know he will get it spot on. I trust is input and imagination. Don’t get me wrong, I have fan favorites like everyone else (cough cough, Armie Hammer, cough cough) but I know it will work out in the movie, can’t wait!
@rory mellark– completely agreed. i’m partial to garrett hedlund or colton haynes myself, but i’m sure whoever they cast is going to be spot on.
(BTW, whatever happened to the “finding finnick odair” articles you guys were publishing here? are those over now? i would’ve liked to see colton in there…)
as far as the arena goes, YES. YES YES YES. that arena was by far my favorite part of the entire series, it never fails to blow my mind with the sheer GENIUS of it every time i re-read the book, and i would DIE if suzanne collins were to, in the movie, give us details about the sections we didn’t get to see in the book. it would be the best thing ever.
While I’d LOVE to see the sections we didn’t see in the books, I’d be content to just see the ones that WERE included! I can totally see them not even mentioning the wave and blood rain. Now that I’m thinking about it, I’m just hoping we get all the sections Kat experiences. -_-
I hope they dont tone down the violence and blood during the games even though its PG-13, I hope they capture most of the different zones of the clock such as the blood rain.
Also cant wait to see her wedding dress and katniss turning into the mockingjay, its going to be really cool to see.
I want to see Peeta giving Katniss the pearl. I know it is small but I love that part also Gale’s whipping. And Katniss trying on the dress and the proposal.
Yeah, the interview dress better be AMAZING.
Also looking forward to Johanna in the elevator, the training sessions before the games, seeing Victor’s Village, Snow in the den, the speech in D11, and EVERYTHING that goes down in the arena.
I just need more of the arena bc it’s a huge part of the relationship between Peeta and Katnis bc though the first movie showed something wash going in it didn’t show the clear love they both have for each other and that katnis is trying to reject it!!! So more arena scenes and when peeta volunteers for haymitch to protect katnis
I personally would love to see what we didn’t read. Maybe get Finnick’s POV like they did with the Gamemakers in the movie. I think it could be interesting since Finnick and Katniss are the two pivotal characters in Catching Fire. For those that will go see the movie without having read the book, I think it would be smart to show how Finnick is not a bad guy from the beginning. Just my two cents =)

I’m sure they will keep the blood rain in, because that’s when you first see Johanna in the arena, covered in blood.
I’d love to see Joel Grey as Beetee! He is who I imagined when first reading the books!
Definitely want to see all the stuff they mentioned, except maybe the other wedges of the arena. With so much material to fit in (Victory Tour, proposal/wedding stuff, and a whole other Games) I’d rather see the source material in there than trying to add too much new stuff. There’s so much to work with in CF that I’m sure they’ll have no problems filling the time!
I absolutely can’t wait until Catching Fire!!! Just 500 something more days! heh… I think that they’ll miss out on a bunch of stuff again(reffering to the hunger games). I really cant wait to see what they’ve done with the arena though. I bet they’ll get the pink sky wrong. Just saying…
So Catching Fire and Mocking Jay are going to be turned into movies!? If so then I hope the same characters from The Hunger Games star in these next 2 movies! I also heard that either Catching Fire or Mockingjay will be split into 2 movies!? Please reply back ASAP.
What?! Just a month ago I saw an interview with him saying HE is not going to shoot Catching Fire in 3D and HE already has ideas on who he wants to play Finnick.
And I can’t wait for Gale and Katniss’s scene in the woods! I love Gale so much! and nooo Gary Ross needs to stay!!
I really hope Gary Ross stays, and I think he will, because he seems really interested in the whole thing. I think all these unconfirmed news articles are lies and/or misinformation.
One thing I really hope they do in Catching Fire is show the D8 rebellion. Since scenes outside of Katniss’ POV were in THG, and they worked very well, this could be a great way to add tension and keep more of the audience interested during the 1st half of the story, which is frequently criticized for focusing too much on the love triangle. Some people have told me that they shouldn’t do that, for some reason, and that they should only tell us it happened, but I think that this is a movie, where “show, don’t tell” is the entire point.
I can’t wait for the interview when Peeta says they are married and Katniss is pregnant. I want to see the reaction of the crowd and Katniss. I hope they can’t either Zac Efron, Chris Hemsworth, those are my only two options for Finnick. I want Ellen Page to be Annie she is small enough and she had the look.
i dont mind that much who plays Finnick, but they’d better keep the same actors or i dont think ill watch the next films because it spoils it when they’re not the same every time

Ugh! i don’t know what to think about this. I think it will be best for Catching Fire to be in 2 movies, but I can’t wait that long! On November 22nd 2013 I have to see the arena, the blood rain, jabberjays, lightning tree, etc. as well as the beginning with Gale and the tour and everything. But I’m so scared they’ll leave important parts of the book out so they can fit it into 2 hours and 30 minutes.
I’d rather they make it a really long movie with everything, instead of 2 movies…
