Possible August Release Date for ‘The Hunger Games’ DVD
‘The Hunger Games’ is still burning up the box office but Lionsgate is already planning the big DVD release of the record breaking movie. According to filmonic.com, Lionsgate is currently planning for ‘The Hunger Games’ DVD to be released some time in August.
The August date comes courtesy of Amazon Germany which lists The Hunger Games DVD release date for August 23rd. Amazon US and UK don’t have any date listed, but we can probably assume Lionsgate will aim to launch the DVD and Blu-ray at a similar time around the world as they did with the movie itself.
In a recently interview with Collider director Gary Ross said there won’t be many deleted scenes featured in the special features and “there weren’t many scenes that I shot that were cut.” However he said “there’ll be a lot of cool supplemental materials on the DVD, but I don’t think I’ll be putting in other scenes that got dropped.”
So there you have it, it looks like the DVD will be out mid-August going by the date already released for Germany. We still have a while to go until then, so it’s unlikely that any information regarding special features will be released soon, but check back here for the official release dates which will be posted as they are announced.
What are you most excited to see on the DVD? I’m personally hoping for a film commentary by Jennifer and Josh, I think it would be hilarious! Let us know in the comments.
