Possible August Release Date for ‘The Hunger Games’ DVD

Im hoping for a ‘the making of’ kind of special feature. I Gould love to see some special effects, music, set building, and makeup/costuming. That to me would be perfect.

I can’t wait!! August seems so far away though! I’ll already be back at school. :*( I really think a commentary by JOsh and Jennifer would be hilarious too. I really want one now that you brought it up.

How am I going to endure 4 months of waiting!?
I am so excited for the extras, and even though it might be unrealistic, I am really hoping to get to see some extended and deleted scenes!

I would like commentary from Ross. He has an interesting cinematic vision.

oh, yes, commentary by josh and jen is a must. a MUST. that alone will sell like a gajillion DVDs. give it to us, lionsgate! =D

also, i would like to hear more from the cast about what they did to prepare for their roles in the psychological sense, especially the younger cast. we’ve already heard a few of the tributes mention that gary ross encouraged them to give their characters backstories, i’d love to hear more about that, it sounds really interesting.

also: FOXFACE’S NAME. i know the name jackie gave her in her head isn’t necessarily her “official” name, but come on, jackie, you can’t just dangle that in front of us forever…

What a coincidence, I was just thinking about this in the shower xD I realize mostly all DVD/Blu-Rays come out five months after the movie is released, so I came to the conclusion it must come out sometimes August 23rd. I didn’t expect to be that accurate can’t wait to buy it! Those extras sound really promising… I’d love to hear Jen and Josh’s commentary, though I would probably be laughing too hard to pay attention to the movie. It’d be nice if Liam and Gary were there too (Gary probably will be).

Yes they HAVE to put a commentary on there with Jen Josh and Gary … and if they added Elizabeth on there too it would be extra fun.

As an obsessive fan of commentaries, I have a wishlist: One with Gary, Nina and Suzanne, one with Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz and Woody Harrelson, one with Jen, Josh and Liam, one with Willow and the rest of the Tributes cast. I know that’s a lot to ask, but I’m shooting for a Lord-of-the-Rings-DVD-commentary-mass-explosion kind of thing (that thing has 4-5 commentaries on each movie).
Making-of, behind the scenes, there’s atleast ONE cut scene I’ve seen snippets of that I’d love to see in its entirety (Gary said there wouldn’t be many, but he never said there wouldn’t be ANY).
Maybe they should just put me in charge – it’ss be a 6-DVD set!

Amazon France mentions a release for the 21st of July. Would prefer this one to be the truth .
Would also love to have a Jen and Josh commentary, it could indeed be really fun

I think it would be cool to have a Jennifer/Josh commentary. They are so hilarious together! I think people from Kentucky (me, me!)work really well together. I’d be pretty cool for a Making-of documentary.

@scar– oh, yeah, i’d forgotten about bloopers! with this cast? it needs to happen. if there are no bloopers on the DVD, i might cry.

After Woody said in an interview that Jen and Josh would chase each other and pretend to be cats, I need there to be bloopers on the DVD.

Now that you said that, I really want the commentary between Jen and Josh! I know for a fact that there is going to be some stuff the stars recorded on there, because Gary gave then a flip-cam they could shoot with for before, during, and after shooting. Also, I hope to see some bloopers, especially ones that are caused by Jen messing them up right before they yell “ACTION!” On set!

YES. We need BLOOPERS. I remember Jen mentioned that her, Josh, Lenny, Woody, and I think Elizabeth all started dancing in the elevator scene when they said “ACTION”. xD LOL. I need to see that there.

Won’t be the 23 it’s a Thursday, though it may be around that date, it will not be the 23 in August, I’m personally still hoping for a July release.

I’m actually a little surprised it is coming out that early. I figured they would wait until November just to get it out around Christmas time. So August sounds great.

On Swedish ‘amazon’, called Cdon.com the release date for the DVD is set to 11 july.

Commentary is a must, but I’m really looking forward to seeing a full version of Rue’s Lullaby!

I find it hard to believe that it would release in July in France, Sweden and other places, but not in The US, where it will make the most money. But they could add extra goodies to the US release where there is the most interest.

i saw a picture of the back of the DVD and it said deleted scenes…crossing my fingers that its true! i also hope that it has behind the scenes of the cast

Well deleted scenes would have been nice, but we can all live without thinking, “OH that totally should have been in the movie!!!”. I really do hope there are bloopers though. They’ve become increasingly rare in extra features for movies, but Josh, Jen, Liam, Alexander, and the rest of them had to have had some really funny moments on set.

Where did you see the back of the DVD, and Ross said no additional scenes, I may be being optimistic but that does not necessarily mean we will not have any deleted or extended scenes, though I’m hoping for an extended ending, that is to the like of the books bitter sweet ending.
