Catching Fire

Just to be certain that everyone understands that ‘Catching Fire’ is the sequel to ‘The Hunger Games’, its title has been slightly altered so everyone will realize it’s part of the franchise.

Lionsgate has announced a minor title change for the second part of their blockbuster franchise. Formerly titled Catching Fire, the Francis Lawrence-directed sequel to this year’s The Hunger Games will now be called The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

Just think of it like you would the Star Wars franchise… the original movies mind you, let’s try not to compare our beloved Hunger Games to The Phantom Menace, etc. :)

OMG I’m physic, how did I know they were going to do that? I actually called it The Hunger Games: Catching Fire by accident when I mentioned it on a website before I knoew they were going to do that. Weird… o.O

I agree with pretty much everybody. A true hunger games fan would know it’s actually “Catching Fire” but for those who just kinda heard about it would make sence. But also, I think that in all the promos and everything it would mention like “the thrilling sequil to the the Hunger Games, Catching fire.”

Am I the only one who doesn’t mind this? I mean it isn’t like they changed the name to “sparkle pony” it still has catching fire in the title. And why is everyone saying this is like twilight all over again, you know, a true hunger games fan wouldn’t judge a movie or book by its title

Aaahh, I saw this coming! If you were a true die-hard fan of the hunger games you would know that “Catching fire” Is the second book/movie to the hunger games series, but i suppose those people that don’t want to read and only watch the movies would be clueless. I love the The Hunger Games, Catching Fire and, Mockingjay! Out of all three books i would have to say Mockingay is a favorite.

I don’t really mind this at all. In fact if they hadn’t made a statement or whatever you would call this…I probably would have thought of it as just a normal movie thing. lol …..and why is everyone talking about ‘if you were a true fan’ this is meant to further widen the audience. For Instance maybe someone who had heard tons of great things about the first one but never actually went to see it may see the new title, then cave and go see it and become a die-hard fan forever……sorry just a long example….anyways ….it could have been worse!

I don’t mind. They didn’t change the actual name, they just added the Hunger Games before it. I’m personally too excited to care. :D

I am not too fussed. It means people who haven’t read the books will know that it is the Hunger Games- cause you do get some idiots out there who don’t realize its a sequal. I mean, it sound more catchy, MORE DRAMATIC!. Just, try imagine the stereotypical voice that reads out the title in the trailer- sounds pretty awesome in my head :)

I just hope that if they do split the last book mockingjay into 2 movies, they should work with Suzanne Collins and come up with a more creative title than just the title “Mockingjay part 1/ part 2″ lol. Overall this slight title change is reasonable

Isn’t it gonna be “The Hunger Games – Catching Fire”? Because they’re NOT gonna change the Cathing Fire part, because the German title will be “Die Tribute von Panem – Catching Fire” That’s the main title of the series and the English title of the movie. I don’t think that they’d change “Catching Fire”

I also curious for movie 3 and 4. I guess one is going to be called Mockingjay. But what about the other? Mhh… I guess that depends on the cut. Maybe something like “Bones and Ashes”.

@amelie it will probably be mockingjay part 2 like in harry potter and breaking dawn

Okay, for all the people here who are arrogantly stating that the “true fans” knew Catching Fire was the second book of the Hunger Games already. Seems pretty snobbish to me. So people who haven’t read the books before seeing the movie are “fake” fans? I personally knew nothing about the Hunger Games before the movie came out. After the movie, I found out about the books and fell in love with them. What does that make me, a “true fan” or a “fake fan”? Instead of acting like the movie makes should only take “true fans” into account, how about hoping that the movies bring in a whole group of people into the fandom that would never have picked up the books otherwise?

I’ve foreseen this and I don’t mind…many have said it before, this is for everybody and not just the fans, and not everybody has read the book, so it has to have continuity, and for those who haven’t read the books, they would know that once this movie came out, that its the sequel of hunger games

NO!!!!! THEYVE RUINED IT FOREVER!!!! LOL :) If, you were going to see the movie, you would have to know that its part of the Hunger Games, or why would you see it??????

If your too dumb to not know the titles of the works it is said that these films are based on, then why go see the film? These seem like the same type of people Lions Gate was pandering to in the first place when they totally changed up the film to only somewhat be similar to the books. If they were going to go so far outside the story in the first film why make another film if it too might go too far away from the book?
