Robert Pattinson on ‘Catching Fire’ Rumors
Judging from the comments being posted all over the web on these so-called “articles” about Robert Pattison being chased by Lionsgate for ‘Catching Fire’ because of the whisperings of some movie gossip site, people are freaking out in a bad way about Robert Pattinson completing his trifecta of YA movies by edging into ‘The Hunger Games’. And who can blame them when it’s even starting to be picked up by local news stations?
The staff of Mockingjay.net has never regarded these articles as being anything but utter silliness and now we’ve finally got the word from the man himself, thanks to USA Today. Currently attending the Cannes Film Festival, Pattison was puzzled by the rumors and called his agent.
“I woke up this morning and saw all these things about me being cast in The Hunger Games,” Pattinson tells USA TODAY. “I was kind of curious for a second. So I called my agent.”
The response?
“My agent was like, ‘No,’ ” Pattinson reports.
“(My agent) was like no one’s going to offer you that part,” Pattinson says, breaking into a laugh. “I was like, thanks for the reassurance.”
And there you have it. Rest easy, tributes!

It’s obvious that Rob would never be Finnick. A- Lionsgate doesn’t want Twilight crossovers, it’s been said that Twilight actors are banned from THG (as Kellen Lutz tried to get an audition but they would not let him). Plus, he’s already did a famous franchise, i think he is ready to move on. This fandom can be SO GULLIBLE it’s annoying. Common sense people.

Haha! I didn’t hear these rumors, but I think that would have been fun! Of course, I’m very against him having a supporting role (I love Twilight, but want that to be separate from the Hunger Games). But, I think it would have been cool to have him randomly cameo as a district/capitol citizen or Avox or something. He would be the only person to appear in at least one of Harry Potter, Twilight, and Hunger Games movies!!
Since movies like “Water for Elephants”, “Bel Ami”, etc. I found it rather obvious that he’d not play a role in a movie like “Hunger Games” or “Catching Fire” – it just wouldn’t work with Pattinson after playing Edward the Vampire…
Well, as much as I think he would be a horrible choice for Finnick (nothing against him, I just can’t see him fitting that role in a way the fandom would accept, not to mention that his casting would be such a distraction from the movie itself), I like that he seems to have a sense of humor about the whole thing and doesn’t take himself too seriously.
Thank God! Now really can’t wait to see who wins this coveted role!

That’s kind mean of his agent to do that , I wouldn’t be surprised that he might be considered because he did work with them on water for elephants ??

i can’t believe people seriously bought into those rumors. i can just imagine nina jacobson’s face if the casting director ever came to her with that suggestion: “no. step AWAY from the twilight. just… step away now.”
He’s a nice actor and he had a great role in Harry Potter. But definitely not good for The Hunger Games.
Thaaaank god. I almost lost my sh*t when I read about this on another website. While I think Mr. Pattison is a quality actor (in everything but Twilight), he is so unfit for this part it isn’t even funny.

Thank goodness this isn’t true! It was extremely doubtful that they would cast him as Finnick considering how it would have angered thousands of fans, but still, I’m relieved!
I love Rob Pat, but NOT for Finnick. When I read this I let out a SUPER deep breath. I didn’t think he’d take it, I mean he hates Twilight, I think he would’ve stayed away from any more big franchises, but still!

Haha while I would totally hate Rob being a part of this franchise, I do love him and his sense of humor. Look at how cool he was about this. He’s a good guy.

As he’s such a lovely guy! And there would be no way that this would ever happen I think they would want to keep a massive distance between Twiligt and The Hunger Games and casting THE main guy from Twilight as the beloved role of Finnick? Never, ever would happen. Can’t believe people fell for that rumour! It was just gossip sites trying to cause drama and get them hits.
Anyway I think Rob is a terrific actor and after Cannes, has a real bright future ahead of him and going into another franchise would be something I really doubt he would’ve up for

I actually think Patterson could have played Finnick. He’s actually a very talented actor (and I am not a huge Finnick fan lol so I’m not very emotionally invested) unlike Kia female counterpart……..but the fandom would have a cow so probably the right move.
But I could see Lionsgate leaking a rumor just to test the waters……….

Whenever I saw articles talking about Pattinson being Finnick I would think no way! Just a rumor! I’m glad I was right if I bought into it and actually read any of the articles I probably would have thrown up at the thought! not that I don’t like him or anything but it would be weird seeing him as Edward The watching him play the very important role of Finnick…..I do however think its funny how his agent was just like “No” hahahaha at least he didn’t seem to take it personally!

I completely agree w/ @Miranda…it amazed me that people actually believed this, I knew that they didn’t want actors from Twilight into Hunger Games first of all, and I just knew that they’d never cast someone like Pattinson, they just wouldn’t do it.

Rob would definitely be the wrong person to play Finnick, but I wasn’t worried he’d be cast because he wouldn’t want to be a part of another teen franchise after Twilight. The guy makes movies with Cronenberg nowadays, why would he want to take on another role as a very good looking teenage heartthrob? Finnick won’t have a lot of screentime in the films, so it’s possible the character will be pretty shallow. I don’t think any big star will want the role.
Totally agree with Miranda, but also Jenny. I was just worried that THG would become Twilight. When I say that I mean that there would be girls there at midnight who call themselves “fans” when really they haven’t read a single book. Right now it seems like any young, hot actor is being called “the perfect person to play Finnick” there are only three people that I think whould play Finn. In order #1 Alex Pettyfer #2 Armie Hammer #3 Ryan Gosling. Whoever plays Finnick can’t be well known. Finnick will be the character they’re known for.
I think that he shouldn’t be in ANY of The Hunger Games movies because he was in twilight and he will ruin the series. Also The Hunger Games is meant to be BIGGER than twilight and I think we should keep it that way.
He’s funny. I wouldn’t be adverse to Kellan Lutz for Finnick; it needs to be someone with a Channing Tatum build and vibe. You’ve got to appreciate the guy’s sense of humor about the whole thing, though.
I sort of feel sorry for him. But no, he wouldn’t work well as Finnick, and I personally would hate any Twlight cast to be a part of the Hunger Games. I’m sure he’s a wonderful actor, but he doesn’t belong here.

As much as I hate Twilight, Pattinson is a pretty good actor (Look at how brilliant he was in Water for Elephants)
But he’s just not pretty enough for Finnick. I actually agree with the previous suggestion that Garrett Hedlund could be pretty brilliant in the role though.
