We posted yesterday about reports from Variety and Deadline that Philip Seymour Hoffman had been offered the role of our new Head Gamemaker, Plutarch Heavensbee. Today, Hollywood Reporter claims that rumor has been confirmed.

Philip Seymour Hoffman received an official offer to play Plutarch Heavensbee in Catching Fire, Lionsgate’s sequel to The Hunger Games, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Hoffman’s name had circled the role for several weeks, but an offer formally went out Monday, the same day the actor ended his 18-year association with his agency, Paradigm.

We did a Casting Fire piece on him about a month ago. Crystal and Tash were a little iffy on his ability to play Plutarch, while I’ve never seen him act and had nothing to base an opinion on other than his looks. Ciara, though, is all for it and thinks Hoffman would do a fantastic job!

There’s no report that he’s accepted the role yet, but what are your thoughts on Philip Seymour Hoffman playing Plutarch?
