Hunger Games Movie News

Lionsgate has inked a deal with Universal Pictures that hands the studio the distribution rights in Italy to The Hunger Games: Catching Fire….
The agreement was unveiled by Lionsgate motion picture group co-chairs Patrick Wachsberger and Rob Friedman.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will go into production in September, ahead of a worldwide release on November 22, 2013
So good news for our Italian fans too!

Va bene!
Does that mean it is being filmed in Italy? Or that when the movie is out, it will be ditributed by Italy? I’m kinda confused…. can someone explain….
It means that THG will be avalible in Italy. Some countries might not want THG b/c of violence and some might not be able to pay for it. So fans in Italy won’t have to buy it out of country or see it out of countty, ect.
Hope that helps Katniss_LuvR-Grl!!

THAT HELPS A LOT!!!!! I was confused. Thank you @Phoebe… and don’t worry. I make a lot of spelling mistakes too!
Simply put, Lionsgate isn’t a big enough studio (yet) to distribute the film worldwide like a bigger company would be able to, like say Warner Bros. So it sells the distribution rights to other studios for other territories. Here, Universal Pictures has signed a deal with Lionsgate and bought the Catching Fire distribution rights for Italy.
So Universal will be the studio that distributes the film to exhibitors (cinemas and theatres) across Italy. Hope that helps
That does. Thank you Ciara!!!!!!
