Total Film has compiled a list of the 50 Greatest Movie Events of 2012 So Far. The list details the greatest moments, developments, news and game changers in the world of cinema thus far this year that have been worth getting excited about and how they will influence the industry in the years to come. The list includes silent cinema’s return, various marketing campaigns and the achievement of assembling many superheroes into one story. At Number 6 on the list is our very own Hunger Games and the film’s commendable contribution to teen cinema:

The list dosen’t includes “Twilight” therefore the list has a value. Plus, The Dark Knight is number one so, I approve!!!

I agree, whilst I (and i’m not ashamed to admit it) have a guilty pleasure for The Twilight Saga it is by no-means a changer or add anything of substance to YA cinema

while i’ve never been a fan of these “top X of the year… so far” lists (i’d rather wait for the whole year to be over, thank you), and i’m even more skeptical as most of the bottom half of this list seems to be announcements/trailers of upcoming movies that will most likely end up in the forgettable pile (really, how many remakes are starting production this year?), at least they got this one right. and the fact that it was all the way up in #6 makes me optimistic that it’ll stick as an important event for the rest of the year, even with bigger movies like the avengers and batman in contention.

Dark Knight trailer number one?? That’s just pathetic. I’ve never seen a more overrated movie franchise than Nolan’s Batman trilogy. I’m glad that Hunger Games is number six but it definitely should have been higher than some superhero movie trailer..

    Thank you Peter!

Yay! It really deserves to be there! Hopefully it’ll be one of the greatest movie events of the whole year. :)

TDKR trailer is #1? Really? Here we have The Hunger Games and The Avengers breaking records and the number one thing on the list is an underwhelming trailer…
