Total Film’s 50 Greatest Movie Events of 2012 So Far Includes Hunger Games

Teen Cinema Comes Of Age
The Event: After the ongoing non-event that is the Twilight Saga, Gary Ross’s adaptation of The Hunger Games was a welcome reminder that cinema aimed at young adults can be both invigorating and exciting. Jennifer Lawrence certainly played her part in that, proving that her Oscar-nommed turn inWinter’s Bone was no fluke.
Future Implications: We’d like to say that the rest of the series will be sure to live up to the standards set by this opening instalment, but with Ross having left over the studio’s tight filming deadline (Catching Fire is due for release as soon as next year), we’ve got our reservations…
I always knew The Hunger Games felt like a game changer, now I’m glad someone said it. Long may it last into the sequels! To see the entire list, head on over to Total Film

GO HUNGER GAMES!!!!!!!!!!!! It changed my life and according to these people the movie industry!!!!!! THE HUNGER GAMES IS THE BEST BOOK AND MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The list dosen’t includes “Twilight” therefore the list has a value. Plus, The Dark Knight is number one so, I approve!!!
I agree, whilst I (and i’m not ashamed to admit it) have a guilty pleasure for The Twilight Saga it is by no-means a changer or add anything of substance to YA cinema
while i’ve never been a fan of these “top X of the year… so far” lists (i’d rather wait for the whole year to be over, thank you), and i’m even more skeptical as most of the bottom half of this list seems to be announcements/trailers of upcoming movies that will most likely end up in the forgettable pile (really, how many remakes are starting production this year?), at least they got this one right. and the fact that it was all the way up in #6 makes me optimistic that it’ll stick as an important event for the rest of the year, even with bigger movies like the avengers and batman in contention.
Dark Knight trailer number one?? That’s just pathetic. I’ve never seen a more overrated movie franchise than Nolan’s Batman trilogy. I’m glad that Hunger Games is number six but it definitely should have been higher than some superhero movie trailer..
Thank you Peter!
Yay! It really deserves to be there! Hopefully it’ll be one of the greatest movie events of the whole year.
TDKR trailer is #1? Really? Here we have The Hunger Games and The Avengers breaking records and the number one thing on the list is an underwhelming trailer…
YESSSS! THG deserves to be on this list.
