‘Catching Fire’ Fan Picks for Johanna Mason and Finnick Odair – ReelzChannel Interview
I had the fun opportunity to chat with ReelzChannel about fan favorite casting picks for the major roles, Finnick Odair and Johanna Mason, in the ‘Hunger Games’ sequel, Catching Fire! Garrett Hedlund and Armie Hammer seem to be the favorites for Finnick, with Mila Kunis and Kristen Bell up there in popularity for the role of Johanna Mason. Of course there are many many ideas for the roles from fans, and we could even get an amazing unknown! These are just the people that I’ve seen stand out a ton as ‘top favorites’ with fans, that get a ton of positive feedback from people who love the books.
Who are your favorites for Finnick and Johanna?

Garrett Hedlund my #1 and as for Johanna, a Mila Kunis type was in my head while reading. So anyone of similar aesthetics with the acting chops to pull her off, I’m good with. Like Catalina she seems more of what I pictured too.
Girl… You sounded NERVOUS. LOL. Very well done though! They HAVE to get Finnick right. I don’t have a particular guy in mind, but, seriously… this most recent one, isn’t gonna work.
My favorites are Rosa Salazar and Jeremy Sumpter. But I’m basically the ONLY person rooting for them. They are what some refer to as UNDER the underdog.
I can’t handle Mila Kunis’ voice for Johanna. Her voice is SOOOO annoying. I couldn’t even get through Friends with Benefits because of that. Just, ugh. LOL
@Misty Haines – Hahahaha I agree I totally sounded nervous! The funny thing is that my voice wobbles like that even when I’m not nervous at all, like when I’m doing video blogs on my own. People always ask if I’m about to cry when I’m totally not. Darn voice. Haha. I was a bit nervous but I feel like I sound terrified!
I’m just gonna wait for guys to announce the real cast. Because, this has been dragged all summer. Besides, I trust Lionsgate.
kimmy, you’re famous!
i love that you and the site are getting so much exposure, it’s fantastic. and hey, don’t worry about your on-camera presence, or your voice, or whatever. it was great as it was, and that just makes it feel genuine anyway. you’re a fan just like all of us are, so it makes sense that you’re really excited about this.
PS: thanks for making me LOL at the justin timberlake thing again! i swear, by the time i got around to commenting on that one, there were already like sixty straight posts of “NO” ahead of me. hahaha.
Sam Claflin Sam Claflin Sam Claflin…all I’m gonna say…until I die…(or until they cast Finnick and I get over it and just be happy with whoever they cast…especially if it’s Sam Claflin ;] ahaha)
Wait I’ve just been pronouncing Johanna as JO-ANNA. Wow, new discovery made.
Anyway. I am SO EXCITED for official casting news. SO EXCITED! Garrett please!
OMG!!! I need Garrett as finnick and Mila as Johanna!! PLEASE!!
I would love Anna Kendrick as Johanna. She’s such a good actress.
That was great Kimmy! I don’t think you sounded too nervous, and what great exposure for us
Hard work most definitely pays off, I love that our Casting Fire series was covered!
Now Lionsgate, please hurry up with the casting announcements lol
Good job Kimmy! So cool!
Way to go Kimmy, before they even said the website or who it was speaking… I was like Woah is that kimmy?! LOL turns out I was right!!!! Great job Kimmy!
Jesse Williams also has a huge fan following gunning for him to be finnick. I find it telling that the fandom has no diversity in picking this role, when Finnick was described very vaguely. Why isn’t there a “finding finnick” article for JW?
right Dannie!!! (on how to pronounce her name) i thought it was that or Jo-Hanna. Although the name is sort of ambiguous, I do kind of hope that they messed up (in the pronunciation of her name) because I don’t think Yo-Honna is nearly as pretty as Jo-Anna or Jo-Hanna
Actually, the name is really not ambiguous. It’s a very popular name in European countries, such as Germany and the Netherlands. Although it may not be a popular pronunciation in the United States (I know because it is my name), this is the correct pronunciation of the original name and it’s nice to see a big role that will hopefully help people pronounce it correctly in the future!
garrett hedlund is the best Finnick ever. To me. And I don’t really care who will play Johanna, as long as she’s a good actress, that’s fine with me
you know i dont think those guys are very hot
and i think christen bell is a great actor and all but
johanah has brow hair not blond and christen is way to nice for
the part.
naya on the other hand is more like johanah
Chace crawford as finnick, and Ellen Page as Johanna. But Mila kunis is alright too, just when I saw juno I kept on thinking of Johanna.
MILA KUNIS MILA KUNIS MILA KUNIS MILA KUNIS MILA KUNIS!!! As I read the books before all the blogs before it was even thought of as a movie I thought “Mila Kunis describes Johanna Mason almost perfectly.” I swear to Jesus! Now there are so many blogs saying so too. Shes an amazinnggg actress and on top of that she’s Russian, And Russians are attractive ;D Woot, Woot!
ZAC EFRON!
I watched Charlie St. Cloud the other day and could not stop looking at his eyes, perfect Finnick eyes! Zac Efrons acting skills are incredable, he can show his emotions, you can see the emotions in his eyes, he shows true potential for Finnck. He can show the emotions in his eyes for Finnick, the pain, the sadness, its amazing, Zac Efron would make a phonamanal Finnick Odair. Please strongly consider Zac Efron. Thank You!!:D

For some reason I always pictured Gilland Jones as Johanna. I know she is too young for it but thats just who I imagined! I also James Gaisford to play Finnick. But he’s also to young!UGH why is every one I want to play the parts too young!!!!!
