Rumor: Mia Wasikowska and Zoe Aggeliki Being Considered for Johanna Mason
It’s been quite a while since we’ve heard any rumblings from Hollywood, but today saw an exclusive from the Playlist, who says that Mia Wasikowska and Zoe Aggeliki are “in the mix” for the role of Johanna Mason.
Sources close to the project tell The Playlist that Mia Wasikowska and model/actress Zoe Aggeliki are in the mix for Johanna Mason. The character becomes a strong ally with Katniss and Peeta during the 75th Hunger Games, but has a testy relationship with Katniss who likens her to an older sister who hates you. She’s a fierce competitor, who has no family and friends left in District 7 where she hails, with her weapon of choice being an axe. Director Francis Lawrence is keen on finding the right actress to fit the part is looking at both big names and lesser known talents.
Neither actress is new to young adult roles with Zoe appearing in next year’s Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters and Mia starred in Alice in Wonderland. Also, some of you may remember that Mia acted alongside our very own Josh Hutcherson in The Kids Are All Right. Thoughts on either of them possibly landing the role?

You know, I never envisioned either of them as Johanna, but Mia is a wonderful actress so.
Mia is a wonderful actress, loved loved loved her in Jane Eyre especially. She pretty much morphs into different characters – I’ll be happy with her as Johanna.
Mia definatley, there’s no doubt in my mind that she couldn’t act the part. She’ll just have to go through “Hunger Games Transformation” like Josh, Jen, Liam, and EVERYONE ELSE! I’m just hating how people comstantly rule someone out for their looks.
Mia? She’s too girly and delicate. No no no no please no. MICHELLE RODRIGUEZ ALL THE WAY. She’s so bada**.
Mia is a great actress – just because she’s been playing characters that are gentle and delicate so far, doesn’t mean she can’t pull of someone completely different! I never thought of her before, but now I’d like to see her as Johanna.
Zoe Aggeliki means “Angelic Life” in greek… Too irrelevant?

I think Zoe is the better Johanna, but if they plan to do all the Percy Jackson movies Zoe wont have time to do the Hunger Games, as Zoe will be playing Selina and even though she isnt a main character, she has a very important role to play in the later books as you would know if you have read the books. x
I personally loved Mia in Alice in Wonderland, but I can’t see her as Johanna. Zoe is a new face. She’s part Swedish, and as a Swede, I naturally support her, but not only for that reason. She looks a lot like how I imagined Johanna, and model or not, I doubt Francis Lawrence would even consider a B-list actress. One thing that does give me doubt is that she’s also going to be Selina Beaugard in Percy Jackson. Selina, a gentle, sweet, neat-freak daughter cannot be compared to Johanna Mason.
I sincerely hopes Lawrence knows what he’s doing, and chooses the right actress.

Why is eeeeveryone saying “Johanna has to look like a badass, she has to look like someone who runs around with axes” etc..? I mean, wasn’t it the while point that she looked like a sweet and innocent girl when she won the games.. Just saying.
(and i personally think Kristen Bell could really pull that off. She may look like she’s gonna cry when in trouble, but she kicks butt!! Seriously just watch Veronica Mars. She’s a “girly” badass)
neither of thease people look like Johanna. Yeah shes a badass. thats why shes my fa. so i personally think that Naya Riveria should still be JoJo!
Mia is a great actress, Meryl Streep even said so in her 2011 oscar acceptance speech!Just because she doesn’t LOOK like she can pull off Johanna does not mean she can’t!When Jennifer, Josh, and Liam were first casted none of them looked liked they could be their characters but all of them did an amazing job in the movie.

Neither of them. Mia looks too sweet, and Zoe is too inexpeienced and has too much of a modellook. Remember: Johanna is bald in Mockingjay so the actress should be able to pull of both a short cut and bald. Second; Johanna isn’t just sarcastic and strong, there is more to her than that. She’s also traumatized and bitter because of what happened to her, you would need an outstanding actress to play her. The Jennifer Lawrence type. (Same goes for Finnick, and don’t get me started on how talented the actress for Annie must be to play such a strange girl) If I had to pick, I’d pick Mia because I know she’s talented, and Zoe look doesn’t do it for me. But to me, both of these casting choices seem horrible. I like Jena or Moreno (or any other latina) for as far as looks go.
