Casting Fire: Fancasting Lyndsy Fonseca as Johanna Mason
Hrrmph… Into a new week and still no casting announcements 
So on we roll with Casting Fire! This Tuesday we’re looking at Lyndsy Fonseca, a 25 year old American actress best known for her roles in ‘How I Met Your Mother’, ‘Kick-Ass’ and ‘Nikita’.
Lyndsy received some support from us this week, do you think she could play the District 7 victor?

I think Lyndsey Fonseca could definitely nail the fake nice and unassuming Johanna that made everyone count her out in her previous Hunger Games. In Kick Ass she seems too nice to actually be a real person and she does the same thing in Desperate Housewives. I’ve yet to see her pull out her angry side though. Again (and I’m fully aware I’ll have to go through the process of explaining myself yet again, before people skim read and go off on one about book ages and the like) I’d like Johanna to look older. As film is a visual medium, visually I think it would look good for past victors to have an age gap over Jennifer and Josh. Not to make Finnick and Johanna look old but to make Jennifer and Josh look young and inexperienced. After all, the two are playing 17 year olds.

Looking at Lyndsy’s IMDB profile, I’ve apparently seen her in a lot of things including Heroes, House, CSI, and Kick-Ass, but the sad part is that I don’t remember her in a single one of those things. Looks-wise I think she fits for Johanna, especially since you can argue she looks just as old or older than Jennifer Lawrence.

I’m afraid the only thing I’ve seen Lyndsy in is ‘Hot Tub Time Machine’ when it was on TV recently, and that wasn’t the kind of role where someone leaves a lasting impression on you, she played the role well but it didn’t really tell me much about her on the whole. Looking at pictures though she does look a bit like I imagine Johanna would look, and as Crystal said she certainly looks around the right age. She is maybe a bit too gorgeous though (which isn’t a bad thing), but I figure whilst Johanna would be good looking, she’d be a bit more on the rough and ready side. I don’t think I’d be disappointed if Lyndsy was cast, but I think we have discussed better fits for Johanna in previous weeks.
For the “…pull out her angry side.” I seriously suggest watching Nikita. She’s nothing but angry in that haha

i like lyndsy fonseca. i think there are better fits for johanna out there, but i think she could do a decent job of the role. i’ve seen very little of her character in nikita, but IIRC she does have some shades of johanna, so maybe it could work. i wouldn’t choose her if it were up to me, though.

Johanna should totally be played by Naya Rivera!!! She would be the perfect Johanna!
there’s a link going around saying that Jena Malone got the part!! PLEASE tell me its not true!!!!!! Naya Rivera should get the part she’s perfect for it!!!

YES!! I think Lyndsy would be a perfect fit because she looks just as I envisioned Johanna would be like. I agree with Crystal when she said that Johanna should be older than Katniss and Peeta because after all, she was a past victor and has grown older since then. Lyndsy definitely has the ability and talent be appear sweet and youthful and then pull out her darker, more raw side. I highly suggest you watch Nikita on CW if you haven’t seen her “tough” side. Lyndsy would make the perfect Johanna Mason!!

I can’t see her as Johanna simply because everyone was casting her as Katniss before.
Also– how does everyone pronounce Johannas name?
i believe Lyndsy would be a very good fit for this role. She is excellent as Alex in Nikita.

@Savanah – I have been pronouncing it “Jo-anna”, but I’ve heard people say “Jo-harna”. Guess we’ll have to wait a bit longer to find out!

I like Lyndsy (was a fan of her on Y&R back in the day) but she’s not Johanna to me. I can see the parallels between the role and her part on Nikita, but I’m with Ciara in wanting someone that looks noticeably older than JL and JH.
I cant beleive Ciara, Crystal, and Tash didn’t watch Nikita before submitting their review! And she was in a soap opera when she was 13! This girl can act!

She was amazing in Nikita so I could see her playing Johanna, although she does look a little young and that could be a problem :/
