Josh Hutcherson’s Amazing Spider-man Casting Tape
Before landing the role of Peeta Mellark in ‘The Hunger Games’, looks like Josh Hutcherson got together with friends to make this really cool casting tape to audition for the role of Spider-man. The video is pretty old, first circulating about a year ago, but we’d never seen it before, so we thought the same might be the case for a lot of our readers here. Enjoy!

ooh first comment!!! yaaah!!!
So anyways… GRANT GUSTIN SHOULD BE FINNICK
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~the end~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’m surprised to see this posted here, as I thought it was leaked against the studio’s wishes.
Ok, now that I actually watched the video XD it was AWESOME!!! Like, seriously really cool! Josh keeps doing this weird thing with his mouth, though… I wonder if maybe he had a mouth guard in? Anyway, I liked it!
Wow! That’s a pretty cool audition tape. I’d have given him the role… but thank goodness he didn’t get it, because then we wouldn’t have our Peeta LOL.
hehehe!!! omg i love heem!! lol so cute ^_^
I agree with Jess…I thought it was awesome, but there couldn’t have been a more amazing Peeta!!! It’s just something about the name Peter…
That was so cute ^_^
haha I love Josh. I had to laugh at this, not in the way that it was an awful audition or anything, just because it was so… Josh. Haha I’m so glad he’s our Peeta
Jess you are so right. He would have been great but he is a way better Peta than Peter. No one could have done a better Peta. I love you Josh and Peta!
WOW! Grant Gustin would be a great Finnick! So cute!
How does he do it? Even when Josh does an action scene he makes you smile!
I think both Josh and Logan Lerman were in the running. Im actually glad that he is Peeta and not Peter. Peeta feels more original and memorable. Whereas Peter Parker has already been played several times already. The new Spiderman is ok… I just wish they tookl them out of hiighschool… They look a little old for highschoolers. That and the spidey suitr looked weird.
The acting is so funny =P Too cheesy for me. And def. not as good as THG – SpiderMan is WAAAYYY too over-played.
(this is hunger games geek- I changed my name) josh is still hot with his nerd glasses!
I’m probably one of the few who thinks he’d have been a good Spiderman, but I’m SO glad he didn’t get this because I think he was iconic as Peeta. I hope he no longer regrets getting passed up for this.
Loved it! Just makes me more curious about his HG audition.
@Lourdes – yep, I’d love to see that. I’m very curious about his process toward and approach to acting.
So you could say he was PEETA PARKER!!
I think I’m the only one that did not like it. Josh is a great Peeta but he was too hammy here. His mouth made me laugh, it would have worked for a parody but not for the actual movie. I think Josh as Peeta and Andrew Garfield as Peter was the way to go.
Your not the only one Vega! Everything seemed a little awkward…SUPER glad that Andrew Garfield got the role for Peter! The casting directors were and are more smart than we give them credit for. Josh=Peeta and Andrew=Peter
At a few points you can tell nobody was hurt, they were doing ‘fake hits’.
Awww….. Josh is just too cute!!! That was awesome, never knew he could do that. Two thumbs WAAAAAAY up for him… Priceless!
WOW! Off topic but really cool! I must say though, he never did look like the fighter to me, just a really kind-hearted Peeta.
That’s my husband!!!!! But are those zits on his face “real or not real”??
He’s a great actor, but Andrew Garfield is the perfect Peter Parker. You can’t argue that. He’s even better than Toby.
@teamPeta you have great taste
@Peeta Luver 10 lol yeah i noticed that too!
This is quite wonderful — looks a lot better (funnier, more touching, more believable) than the current movie! Did Josh do the directing, production and stunt coordination? If so, he is on his way to a career behind the camera as well as in front of it.
@Hana – how awesome would that be if he did do all that stuff himself for this shoot? He’s said he wants to direct and produce, and Gary Ross had some highly complimentary things to say about Josh’s potential along those lines in the Nylon interview.
Pretty cool, but Josh doesn’t really look like Peter Parker. I mean, Josh doesn’t really look like someone you could bully, even with the funky glasses. Kinda liked how Josh’s face never changed, his mouth was always open
THE JAW
Anyway, if you haven’t actually watched “The Amazing Spiderman” yet you really should, Andrew Garfield was really good.
This reminds me that I thought Josh did a great job in the (too brief) Cato fight at the end of THG, and that I’d love to see him do full-length, bona-fide action scenes.
I liked the video overall, but I would have preferred to see him reading scenes with someone to get a better idea of how he would’ve interpreted the character. Although I loved his smile and face patting at the end – great bit of attitude.
YAYYYYYYYY THT WAS SOOOOO COOOL. HE WAS AN AMAZING PEETA ANYWAYS A DI SAW THE AMAZING PIDERMAN AND IT ROCKED. I LOVED THE GUY WHO PAYED THE ACTUAL SPIDERMAN BUT I STILL LOVED THIS. IM KIND OF GLAD THAT JOSH DIDNT GET THE ROLL BECAUSE THEN HE WOULDNT BE PEETA!!!! BUT I SAW TAS AND IT WAS AMAZING. MY FRIEND SAID THE GUY WHO PLAYED THE ACTUAL SPIDERMAN IN THE MOVIE LOOKED LIKE A WHITE ZAYN(FROM ONE DIRECTION. GO DIRECTIONERS!!!!) SO YEAH, THT WAS PRETTY EPIC.
Is it just me or did he keep doing something with his mouth? I don’t know but it was cool!
um…what does TGH mean?
@SPUNKY GURL TGH means The Games Hunger
gabby, I can’t understand you vary well
OH dear lord! Laughed my butt off, so adorable
