Willow Shields: “I’m Excited to Grow Up With Prim’s Character”

Josh Horowitz of MTV caught up with Willow Shields at San Diego ComicCon today, and asked her a few questions about the start of filming, what her favorite part of playing Prim is, and what scene she’s most looking forward to in ‘Catching Fire’.

On the start of filming:
“We heard rumors about fall, but we’re not exactly sure when,” she told MTV News at San Diego Comic-Con. “It’s still a secret from me too.”
What she’s most excited about:
“I’m excited to grow up with Prim’s character, because, you know, I have basically three more movies, but I’m going to be 15 or 16 by the end, but I started off when I was 10,” she said. “So it’s going to be really interesting to go start to finish and just to see what a difference my acting has become, and just growing up with that character is going to be really fun.”
Scene she’s most looking forward to (and hopes will make it into the film– she hasn’t seen a script yet):
“It’s a scene where Haymitch, Peeta and I are sitting around in our new house and we’re stuffing our faces with candy and making fun of Katniss, and I just think it would be a really fun scene to do because we’re just goofing around and having fun,” Shields said. “And although Katniss gets mad at us, we’re still having fun, so it would be a fun scene to shoot plus I would be able to shoot a scene with Josh and Woody Harrelson, so that would be really fun.”

Willow really is the perfect Prim… just like how Grant Gustin is going to be the perfect Finnick! (Sorry, I couldn’t resist!)
I LOVE WILLOW! She is sooo cool and my age! The scene that she looks forward too is my favorite
I’m also excited to see how Willow grows up with Prim, I think that will be interesting. It’s actually a really good thing that the two will be aging together (of course one is just a character but you know what I mean.) Prim is rather different at the end of MJ than she is at the beginning of all this, and she starts to have a wordly weariness to her. I think Willow’s growing up will help that progress and make that even more believable.
That’s the scene I personally am looking forward to as well!
Oh my god Francis Lawrence PLEASE include that scene. It’s one of my favorites from Catching Fire and it’s hilarious to see the five of them lying to the peacekeepers so convincingly.
Does she mean the scene where Katniss is injured and makes up the story about trying to get the goat pregnant? That one is great, especially for showing what a terrific liar Peeta is.
On a more worrisome note, how is it the actors still don’t know when shooting starts?
she is too cute! :3
i really do hope that scene, or at least part of it, makes it into the movie. that scene, to me, is like a little ray of sunshine in what’s otherwise an incredibly stressful plot. even though the joviality of it is mostly faked, it was THE scene where i went “oh, they’re a family.” a very dysfunctional, messed up family, but a family nonetheless.
@SPM– i am assuming they won’t know in which order they will shoot scenes until they cast all the actors, because a lot of it will have to do with availability. or maybe they’re still scouting for locations. i do wish they would hurry up, of course!
@SPM Yes! That scene definately needs to be added!
Willow did so amazing in the first movie, I can’t wait to see her in CF and MJ!!!
I have a question… prim is only supposed to be like 13 in mockingjay. Won’t she look a little too old?
OMG INCLUDE THAT SCENE I LAUGHED MY BUTT OF AS ONE RANDOM DUDE SAID ON RANDOM MSP YOULL LAUGH THE POOP OUT OF U!!! XD
