Lionsgate released their second official casting for next year’s ‘Hunger Games: Catching Fire’: Amanda Plummer will be joining the cast as District 3′s Female Tribute, Wiress.

Everyone here at Mockingjay.net is pretty pleased with this piece of news!

Well, she’s definitely got the look! I’m actually really pleasantly surprised with this casting decision. She’s got a great resume under her belt, and I think she’ll be great. Not to mention, she’s the daughter of Christopher Plummer, and who the heck doesn’t love him? So if she’s half as cool as her dad, I think we have nothing to worry about. I mean, LOOK at her. She is Wiress.

I bolted out of bed this morning at 6:00 AM when I saw that Wiress had been cast. I don’t think I could have ever picked her out myself, mostly because I thought the role would go to someone we’d never met, but now that I see she’s been cast I’m ecstatic! The last thing I saw her in was 2008′s ‘Red’, but of course the movie I’ll always remember her in was Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Pulp Fiction’ in 1994. Like most moviegoers around me, the opening scene with Pumpkin and Honey Bunny blew my mind and became immortalized as one of the best movie openings I’d ever seen. She looks just like I would have imagined Wiress would look and so I’d like to thank Lionsgate for knowing what I wanted before I did!

When I first saw the official picture announcing Amanda Plummer as Wiress, I took one look at her and was like ʺOMG that is Wiress! She’s exactly the Wiress that’s in my head!ʺ I’m not very familiar with her acting, but from the bits and pieces of ‘Pulp Fiction’ I’ve seen, Amanda seems amazing! And I’ve only heard very positive comments about her since the official announcement, which makes me very excited. Wiress is a small part, but so important, and I can’t wait to see her mumbling ʺtick tock, tick tockʺ as they sit around the Cornucopia.

Honey Bunny from ‘Pulp Fiction’ as Wiress? Hell yes! She was crazy good, and literally crazy, in that film, so she’ll have Wiress down to a tee. Plus, like the other staffers have said just take a look at her, she looks perfect. And that’s before the make-up and costume artists have even gone near her. I am very pleased to see Amanda cast in the role as it shows the importance that Lionsgate and co have placed on the character, Wiress may only be a small part, but her involvement in the overall story is very significant. It wasn’t the casting I was expecting to see this week, but I am very very happy and like the PSH decision this gives me even more confidence going forward that everyone who is cast for each role is going to be absolutely spot on.

What are your reactions to Amanda Plummer as Wiress?

I remember seeing her on Pulp Fiction but more so on So I Married an Ax Murderer. Good stuff. She can def pull off being a little off her rocker. I think she’ll make a great Wiress!

If you guys have access to it, check out her performance in the Law and Order: SVU episode called “Weak.” She was outstanding!

@Rach – I love SVU and am going to have to go back and watch that one as sadly I’m having a hard time recalling it.

Can’t say she’s anything like how I imagined her to be, but then again, Snow didn’t look like anything I imagined him to be, and he turned out great. So as long as the casting crew is happy, then I’m happy.
