Is Katniss the Best Archer in Movie History?
With the London 2012 Olympics in full swing and Jennifer Lawrence’s archery trainer Khatuna Lorig competing at her 5th Olympic games, Moviefone has devised a poll to find the best archer in cinema. Up against Princess Merida, William Wallace, Hawkeye, Legolas and Rambo, Distrtct 12′s finest has some stiff competition:

Why She’s On The List: Shooting an apple out of a pig’s mouth is nothing for the most talented bow-slinger around. Katniss Everdeen’s marksmanship and determination won her The Hunger Games, saved her friend Peeta and sparked a revolution.
Why She Could Win: Katniss received an 11 during her training and went on to win The Hunger Games, so she knows how to out-smart her opponents. Also, being the most skilled archer in all of Panem doesn’t hurt, either.

i’m surprised legolas is ahead of hawkeye, the avengers being fresh out of theaters and all. either way, i voted for katniss, because the fact that she can shoot a live squirrel right through the eye never fails to astound me.
This poll is just stupid. Hawkeye is the best archer ever, that is said in The Avengers comic books all the time, he has been trained since he was 7 and hes got special training from the top agents of SHIELDS. Katniss is good, but Hawkeye is better. Even if she wins this poll, Hawkeye is better.
I was stuck between Hawkeye, Katniss, and Legolas. Then I had to vote for Katniss because Legolas is an elf, which is an unfair advantage, and Hawkeye has a mechanical bow that does a lot of things, which I also thought was unfair. There’s no way to tell which out of all of them is best because they’re all using something different. In the end I’d say they’re all terrific. I still voted for Katniss though, just because I’m a THG fan before I’m a LOTR fan or Avengers fan, lol.
Katniss is good, but she did miss a couple times. Legolas never misses.

@ clara, it said MOVIE history, I don’t mean to be a snob or anything. I get what you mean, I’m a comic book nerd but in the MOVIE his arrows had autolocaters so all he had to do was aim in a general direction, that made me mad. As far as moives go, it’s no shocke that Katniss is in the lead.

I’m a Fan of The Hunger Games Trilogy though, I read all of it, but Legolas is Legolas, I apologize if I offended you but it’s true.

As much as I like Katniss, there is no way she is the best in movie history. Maybe if you were talking about books, it is possible, but even then, that is doubtful. I mean how many times did she actually fire an arrow in the movie? Maybe 15 arrows and that is probably pushing it. In a single fight in the LOTR movies, Legolas fired more times then she did in the entire movie. Has to be Legolas for me hands down.
I agree, Grant. Love Katniss, love THG, but come ON! Katniss is a great archer, sure, but this poll asks who the BEST is in MOVIE history (not BOOK history). If people take off the “bias glasses”, it’s obvious that Legolas wins. Katniss only shot a few times in THG, and she missed twice. Legolas shot a LOT in the LOTR movies, and he NEVER missed. He deserves the win. (Plus, it’s not “who’s the best HUMAN archer in movie history”, just who’s the best ARCHER. So Legolas not being human shouldn’t be a factor.)
When Katniss takes out a giant elephant creature and an army of orcs with her arrows, then I’ll vote for her
the hawkeye video is funny cause you see him shoot but you never see him hit the target
@Phoebe Yeah, he’s the same character as he is in the comcis, with the same background and everything. His arrows has autolocators in the comics to, Tony make them for him. But even before that, he is the best archer ever.

Obviously legolas! Katniss doesn’t even come close see only shot like 10 arrows the whole movie and missed twice while legolas shot hundreds and never missed once and he was up against massive armies of orcs!
Katniss is awesome and stuff, and she’s got good skill, but being up against an immortal 500+ year old (who still looks 20) isn’t gonna work… for her. I know that loads of people love the HG but if you think realistically… well, it’s obvious who would win. Just saying.
This is obviously a popularity contest for all of u.. Look back at all these character’s most defining cinematic moments as an archer… Legolas’ least excited scenes still kick the crap out of katniss’ most memorable. You can argue Hawkeye is the best archer, but he’s the only one on this list who can even come close to holding a candle to the things Legolas has done.
