Rumor: Patrick St. Esprit as Romulus Thread?

Variety (fyi: credible news source) is stating that Patrick St. Esprit (Sons of Anarchy) has been cast as Romulus Thread in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire:
St. Esprit has experience playing authoritative military types, having appeared in “We Were Soldiers,” “United 93,” “Green Zone” and most recently, in J.J. Abrams’ “Super 8.” He also played police officers in recent episodes of “Rizzoli & Isles” and “NCIS: Los Angeles.” Thesp is repped by Abrams Artists Agency and Justice & Ponder.
Lionsgate had no comment.
It’s a rumour for the time being people. Remember it’s never official until it appears on CatchingFireCasting.com

i still think it’s hard they’ll actually cast someone as romulus thread– i keep thinking “peacekeeper who whips gale hawthorne” will be as far as they go, but if they do cast thread, this guy could do a good job. i remember him from united 93, body of proof, monk, and i think also criminal minds? (dude definitely does a lot of procedurals).
Well, if they’re casting a Romulus Thread, that means they’re keeping the Gale whipping scene, which I’m glad about
(not that I hate Gale, just think it’s a strong scene)
I agree with @carla that they will cast him as thread but will be “peacekeeper who whips gale hawthorne” and thats it. But who knows?!
I think the whipping scene could be the ‘cornucopia’ scene of this movie. It’s a hugely emotional scene for Katniss and one of the most violent and bloody in the whole series. Also, Gale is technically an adult so they might be able to be a bit more graphic with what they show. It’s also an important moment in the development of the love triangle.
Furthermore, the arrival of Thread and whipping are the first signs of Snow’s crackdown on District 12 and are proof of how Katniss has failed to quash the rebellion.
So although the role might be small, it is a very significant one and so the actor who plays Thread will have to be able to be able to be menacing and intimidating.
Oh yeah. I can totally see him as Thread. I was really hoping that they were going to keep the whipping scene in the movie. It’s really important I think to see exactly how the Capitol is stretching to control the Districts before a full-scale rebellion hits. I also thought it was one of the few scenes where Katniss actually shows true emotion.
He looks like a good Thread and it’s better that he can be authoritative and military-ish. He might have to do a different accent though since I recall Katniss mentioned that Thread had a strange dialect.
I have to agree with Carla, perhaps even though he might be credited in the role I don’t think he’ll be named in the movie – we as book readers will know who he is but everyone else will just think he is a generic peacekeeper.
He does look the part though, and he certainly has a lot of experience in these types of roles, which is great because as nib pointed out he needs to come across as menacing and totally threatening.
