@Katie well remember, Cato vs. Thresh could have been an epic fight for added drama, but they didn’t show it
I can only hope that we get casting announcements every day now. That’s probably too much to hope for, but who knows lol.
@Carla: “the way he described it made me think that everything just happened really fast, so i always got the feeling that he literally just ran into brutus killing chaff, and then he was on brutus before the guy could even react.” I think the same, I think Peeta reacted by instinct, he probably didn´t realize he was killing Brutus until it was over. He just ran into them and within a blink of an eye, he was the last one standing. If I remember correctly, the cannon for Chaff was followed very closely by the Brutus´ one, it had to be quick.
It would be great to have it in the movie, but I think there won´t be time.
Satsuma- It could be an epic battle/David and Goliath moment. But that’s what I thought about Peeta vs. Cato, which they DID show, and that was a huge disappointment in the first film. That was my most anticipated part of the movie, and the true lack of epicness basically ruined it for me (can I say bunk were-tributes, not losing a leg, 12 hours turning into 30 seconds?!?). I’d personally love to see this fight so Josh can make up for the first miss and really show he’s a lover AND a fighter, but I don’t think that’s what they are trying to portray with MoviePeeta.
@Khnaster Your right about the Cato/Thresh fight. But Peeta is one of the major characters in the story.
So far audiences know Peeta as a lovestruck boy who got hurt for half of the movie. So showing the fight would be logical to show that Peeta is capable in defending himself.
AMN, I think the important thing to show isn’t that he can level up and fight, by shoehorning some unnecessary fight scene with a bigger guy (it wasn’t even revealed until the 3rd book if I recall rightly). In fact, I think that would be depressingly cliched. Instead, it’s way more important and interesting to emphasise his willingness to put himself in harm’s way and occasionally just use himself as a meat-shield for Katniss in spite of the fact that he is not a fighter.
Thanks for your opinion on this interesting subject.
