I’m ok with this! Looks like a great chaff

I’ve never seen him in anything, but definatly fits my mental image of Chaff.

He is pretty much exactly how I pictured Chaff. I just love his eyes too, so pretty.

we’re expecting cashmere, so they give us chaff. oh, trollsgate.

meanwhile, i like him! i don’t think i’ve seen him in anything (what is it with LG casting all these people who acted in great shows i simply never got the chance to watch? sigh), but i’m sure he’ll do great.

Love this! Yesss, just what I had in mind. Ideally, I wanted Idris Elba, but he’s super busy with movies right now. This guy is a great actor though. Way to go LG!

This movie is going to be amazing. I can already feel it!!! I’m so glad about the day-by-day casting announcements. Sooner or later we’ll be getting sneak peaks of the set, then trailers of the movie, and hopefully after that it will be November 2013. All these cast members seem perfect and I’m sooooo excited!

I think he looks like Chaff. In my mind, when I read the books I always liked Chaff. He seemed like a tough guy, but one with a good heart (kind of like Haymitch). This guy looks exactly like I imagined him. He looks tough, but also like he could be kind. Good call, Lionsgate!

Re: casting over the weekend, I doubt it. But I’d put money down that they’ll pick up next week. I think the reason they’re jumping around is because the people filling in certain roles (Cashmere, Beetee, Finnick obviously) are bigger names. So they’re working up from relatively unknowns (I’m trying to find how tall this guy is and it’s near impossible) to big names.

Re: Finnick; he’s going to be the last one. I think the mystery girl in the bottom will be Annie and they’ll be announced the same day. It only fits, if you really appreciate the series. At least in my mind.

Anyway, good calls so far, Lionsgate!

I really have to reread the book. I have no recollection who Chaffe even is.

I thought we would find out cashmere…..they’re changing it up on us. He looks exactly how I pictured Chaff. Hopefully Lionsgate keeps this up. I like knowing every time I wake up. I have something to look foward too.

An interesting note: do you guys think they will give him an amputee arm with special effects, or, like Peeta’s leg, will they just leave that detail out and leave his two arms? Just wondering what you guys think about that.

I swear I couldn’t find any black male actor who looked like Chaff. I’m glad Lionsgate is better at that he looks exactly like Chaff should. I wonder if they’ll have the scene where he kisses Katniss XD

@Megan Bush – I read from his Atlanta Models & Talent profile that he is 5’10″. And I agree that Lionsgate will probably wait to reveal Finnick and Annie last.

Chaff won the 45th Games, so he’d only be in his mid-40′s. Not some old dude. Yeah, I wonder how they’ll handle the missing hand thing.

@Brit: 5 PM BST would be noon in the Eastern US – maybe they’re going for an ‘even’ time of day like that.

Another casting that is absolutely perfect, it really seems like Lionsgate have gone to the ends of the earth to cast some of these actors.

The missing hand is an interesting one, I guess it’s something they could probably CGI? I don’t think you would put something over it because the book described him as having a stump, so I always imagined his hand was missing from just after the elbow down.

Maybe they can just give him a green screen sleeve(i think thats what its called) from the elbow down, they used something like that in the movie Soul Surfer.

It’s possible that, like with Peeta’s leg, they won’t have him with a stump. They may not think it’s important enough to include it if the character isn’t going to be in the movie that long and if they decide it’s not worth the trouble or expense to include it.

Btw I don’t think Annie is going to be in this movie. There doesn’t seem to be a placeholder for her on the Lionsgate official Facebook cast grid. Someone correct me if I’m wrong about that.

There’s an empty spot for a mystery female at the bottom of the chart. Some are speculating that it might be for her, but we don’t know for sure yet.

@McKenzie, but why would they hide it if it is Annie? That makes no sense, especially since so many fans have read the books and already know about Annie (not that I’m saying the speculation is wrong, I just don’t get why they wouldn’t list her name).

If the speculation is right, Katie McGrath or Georgina Reilly for Annie – they both do a pretty great job playing crazy on their tv shows.

i think he looks great! i’m hoping they continue with the castings over the weekend too though.
About the misterious woman, i think it could be president Coin, you know like she would appeared at the end of the movie and we would have our “new” villan hahah

Yay! I have actually seen him in something! Total people (from the entire franchise) that I know: 3. Anyway, I think that this casting was PERFECT!!!

@shelly– it seems they just aren’t announcing the names of non-tribute characters. plutarch’s spot didn’t include his name, either. many of us were confused about this “mystery male character” until they moved PSH’s photo down. as for mystery female, it might be annie, or it might not be. people have speculated it could be anyone from coin (who isn’t even mentioned in CF but you never know, we can’t know what the script will include) to leevy. it could be anyone.

@carla, it’s been a while since I’ve read the books so I can’t remember who Levy is.

Coin…personally, I hope it’s not her. That’s such a crucial role, I really hope they save it for Mockingjay when they have the time to think it through and do it right, not when they’re scrambling because filming is just a few days away. (On that note, Cate Blanchett or Sigourney Weaver for Coin?)

@carla @shelly now that I think about it there’s so many people mystery woman could be. Hazelle, Annie (who I personally think will not be cast in Catching Fire), Madge, or maybe a peacekeeper or gamemaker. Or an entirely new character which I doubt. I guess we just find out when she’s cast.

Darn I wish I hadn’t gotten my hopes up to hear a casting announcement today, sigh until monday until monday……

@shelly– leevy is a girl from the seam, katniss asks her to go tell hazelle about gale’s whipping while they take him to mrs. everdeen. i doubt mystery female will be leevy, but i’ve seen people mention her.

@khanster– haha yeah, no announcement today. guess we’ll have to wait until monday. i’m keeping my fingers crossed for beetee. as for mystery woman… i’ve heard just about everyone come up. i even came across someone who said it could be posy. i’m like… seriously? *shakes head*

@carla @shelly @Khanster Yeah I have heard a lot of different names thrown out there, Annie more than anyone else, but I think there is a real possibility of it being Madge, Bonnie, or Twill also.

It would make sense for it to be Annie since she is essential to Finnick’s story, specifically to understanding the Jabberjay scenes in CF, but who knows.

I’m thinking that they would probably not have both Bonnie and Twill since they could just progress the story of D13 with just one of them. I would think they would probably choose to cast Bonnie since she has that connection to Rue for Katniss, IDK we’ll see.

As for Madge, I don’t know how they would work her in, but it wouldn’t be too unbelievable that a victor would become friends with the Mayor’s daughter.

Anyway, just my 2 cents of course, but I am loving all the casting news coming out. I hope this week will be the same as last and we’ll get a new cast member (or 2) everyday. *crosses fingers*
