Fans of Josh Hutcherson will be happy to learn that the official trailer for the ‘Red Dawn’ remake starring Chris Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson has been released online.
Plot Summary:
In “Red Dawn,” an American city awakens to the surreal sight of foreign paratroopers dropping from the sky — shockingly, the U.S. has been invaded and their hometown is the initial target. Quickly and without warning, the citizens find themselves prisoners and their town under enemy occupation. Determined to fight back, a group of young patriots seek refuge in the surrounding woods, training and reorganizing themselves into a guerilla group of fighters. Taking inspiration from their high school mascot, they call themselves the Wolverines, banding together to protect one another, liberate their town from its captors, and take back their freedom.
Red Dawn will be released on November 21, 2012.

On another note, does it ever weird anyone else out how similar Chris and Liam are? Sometimes when they talk, I think, my God, they’re so similar. It’s almost freaky. Maybe it’s just me haha

I…cannot tell a lie: I tried watching the original movie and was so bored I turned it off halfway through. I’m sorry, I really am. I just found it very dull and badly paced. Now, of course, the trailer shows the remake has obviously been jazzed up so I don’t know, maybe I’d enjoy it more. I’ll probably wait for the dvd though, Hutchie or no Hutchie.
Fun fact: I think I read somewhere that Jennifer Lawrence’s Oscar bait movie from the Weinsteins and starring Bradley Cooper – Silver Linings Playbook – is coming out at the same time as this. Katniss v. Peeta! (and Thor). Oops.

This could be a good action movie with an inspiring guerilla warfare angle.
@Alan, that’s my point exactly. The original was a guerilla warfare movie and nothing more – it had no real meat to the story otherwise and wafer thin characterization. I’m not saying I don’t like guerrilla warfare movies. One of my favorites is a movie called Toy Story starring Sean Astin and Wil Wheaton. But that one had great, memorable characters and it wasn’t just people going around gunfighting and blowing things up, you cared about the characters. I can’t say I cared about any of the Red Dawn characters at all, even The Expendables made me care more than RD did.
I don’t mind they’ve remade Red Dawn but for it to work it needs to be more than what the original was, IMO. Just my 2 cents.
Excuse me while I imagine Chris Hemsworth in this movie as Gale in his thirties leading military men in District 2 .
Totally seeing this movie! Who doesn’t love the Hemsworth brothers? And its weird seeing josh in an action movie having always seen him as a socially awkward teenager. Dont even get me started about Josh Hutcherson, any movie he is in is awesome!

Red Dawn is the remake of a the movie of the same title from 1984 starring Patrick Swayze and Charlie Sheen.
Tomorrow, When the War Began is a book published in 1993.

The plot is kinda “blah” but it still looks good. It also comes out the same day as the Silver Lining Playbook. Starring Jennifer Lawerence.
