NO WAY!!!!! I’ve actually BEEN to that house!! It’s called the Swan House and the inside is like a museum about how people live in I think the ’20s. On the other side (the back of the house–or is it the front?) there’s a place for carriages and horses to pull in so their passengers can go inside.

The mansion is how i pictured it but not all the trees cause I thought it would be all metal/concrete. But it still looks amazing!

I just went on the Catching Fire Imdb page and noticed a character called President Snow’s granddaughter!! I know this has nothing to do with this, but I had to say something!

Exactly what I had in mind. I always felt that Snow was a ‘classical’ type of character. He may live in a modern world but he holds on to the classic stereotype. Remember Snow is an old man, he has seen Panem built but I doubt that he instigated the initial re-building of Panem (he’s too young for that one).

i know that this is fictional, but just as a lot of/u consider this house beautiful,I can’t but think of the way the other people live, the fact that the sins of the fathers/R visited on their children.I’m sorry but most of the movie reminds me of what Americans/R going thru right now, & it hurts 2/c these peoples suffering.

I like the scenery but I pictured the mansion in like the city because in mocking jay it just seems like the town’s square is right there at the gates of the mansion but I don’t know.. I pictured the mansion much larger than that

It’s a gorgeous setting, though as others have pointed out, it doesn’t jive with the Capitol geography and architecture of the first movie. Of course, Snow most likely has several houses, and as @AnvilGate noted, he is a classical kind of guy. It seems more suited to be the District 12 mayor’s house, but the event there isn’t even detailed in the book, so it’s a pretty safe bet, this is the big party with Plutarch, etc.

Okay, now I’m confused. In the books, isn’t the City Circle where the chariot parade ends right outside of President Snow’s mansion? And I thought they incorporated that in the first film. So now, if they do a shot of this place as his mansion, it will make no sense. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a beautiful place but it’s just not consistent with what’s presented in the first film.

eh, it works for me. yeah, the mansion is supposed to be smack in the middle of the city as per mockingjay, but we know for a fact that snow has a large rose garden, so maybe his mansion is the only piece of land with a considerable amount of greenery in the capitol. being president has its perks.

not being all that familiar with this site (i’ve only been to atlanta once), what i want to know is: are they filming on the inside as well, or if this is just being used for exterior shots (i figured the ball scenes would be filmed in a soundstage, but i guess this option might be cheaper…)

It is an amazing house. There is a video tour on the website. It is possible that the mansion is on a parcel of land next to the Capitol Square. It
will have to be, come Mockinjay and the climatic ending. Still, I viewed from the book, a large indoor party, this will have to be more of a Garden party with maybe the dancing indoors.

Seems more like Katniss’ house in Victor’s Village to me.

I really dont see this at all being Katniss home in Victors village. For one, this house is very fancy and to me a little to elegant to be found in the districts. I always imagined the houses to be a simple two story wooden house that you would find in an every day neighborhood today. I think the house it to big of a mansion to have rows of the same exact house all together. Speaking of that, if this is Katniss home in Victors Village where would the other houses next door be. And acording to the hob their source confirmed to them that this house is being used to hold a “party” with people dressed in crazy outfits including a “dress made of bricks”. All of that to me points to be the victory ball scene.

As for Snows mansion being in the center of the capitol, I still think they could still do that in the movie. I actually like the idea of having lots of trees surrounding his house, it even looked that way in the first movie. Having all of that greenery surrounding his house can easily distinguish Snows mansion from the rest of the Capitol city. I see it as something like Imagining New York city as the Capitol and think of central park as President Snows mansion, and all of the skyscraper buildings surrounding it as the rest of the Capitol. I know it wasn’t described that way in the book, but they can always change it up a bit for the movie.

The first picture looks like a place Snow would live in. I can imagine a garden of roses behind the structure…

A set would be better an easier to re-create for Mockingjay

Except… maybe they are changing the ending? seeing as how most fans didn’t really like it

@Anonymus: They may make little changings like changing the place that this death happens but they just CANT make such an important character survive in the movie if in the books, she dies, it would just screw up the story, and the most part of the fans, including me and even the ones wh didnt like the ending, would be EXTREMELY pissed off.

or they could just simply be only filming inside.

That is GORGEOUS! Though I always imagined it to be in the middle of the Capitol. No trees around it at all, just tall futuristic buildings or something. Still – that’s GORGEOUS! haha

I wonder why so many people pictures victor village’s houses as mansions…

I always pictured them as suburbs houses, considering everyone else lives in nasty super poor houses… kinda like a tent city

I think the victors village houses are mansions. I mean it would make sense if you have to enter the hunger games to fight to the death for a better life.Like someone said they’re probably using the swan house for the inside for filming.What are they using the georgia congress center for though?

@Knightlock the Victor’s houses are described as mansions. They are far from “regular two story homes”. Read the description of Katniss’ new home, this fits it to a T. Also, the VV homes do not look the same.

As someone else said, if they are using this for Snow’s mansion, they are going to use the inside not the outside. The outside does not look like a home in the Cap.

I dont really like it for snows mansion. on the special features of the hunger games, the design team said they used a lot of influence from Russia, with the big strong meanacing buildings. this looks too much like a ginger bread house. i hope it isnt snows mansion. but i can imagine it as katiniss’ house in victors village. i can just imagine it, with the snow and next door peeta is making bread. awww…

I dont see why people have such a problem with this mansion being Snows mansion. Its a gorgeous mansion with a garden around it, which is what Snow likes. People be nitpickin!! lol.
