it looks like these reapings will be cgied for the movie

  2.

Is that older man the mayor or the escort?
It looks like the 2 tributes standing and 3 other past victors in the chairs.

    Brianna

@Alan: The victors wouldn’t be in chairs on the stage, they’re the ones being reaped…

now that i see a full picture of a peacekeeper…i think they look kind of ridiculous…a mix between a Star Wars and the armor looks like what bmx bikers wear

oops i forgot to add stormtrooper

I’m not a huge fan of the new Peacekeepers (even if that’s what the men in suits aare) but I understand why they have so much armour. After the uprisings and signs of rebllion I think Francis wanted to portay their suits stronger and more protective in case of a mob or fight.

  7.

well Stormtroopers ARE from Star Wars, so i think you had it covered. xD

i agree and i don’t like them, but that’s what i thought about the Peacekeepers in the first movie too. i think it was a bad idea to make them white, with the helmets and guns how can one not think of Stormtroopers? they should have been black or at least dark grey.

in any case as much as i don’t like them, they’re not very important so i can only care so much.

forgot to add that i find it weird how they dressed these victors. on the upside of that is that they seem to be including the morphling story (even if just visually), the downside is that they seem to be wearing what a stereotypical druggie/squatter punk might wear nowadays.

(okay, maybe not NOWadays, but in our very recent past like late 90′s, early 2000′s.)

I personally like the peacekeeper’s uniform. I think it looks more futuristic. I also like what the Distirct 6 tributes are wearing ;D I dont really care how diffrent or new things look, I did but not anymore. Im just glad my favorite book is becoming a movie!!!! :D

Nice! I really like how there are airplanes in the background to match the theme of District 6: Transportation.

As for the Peacekeeper uniforms, I have mixed feelings about it. They look more sci-fi than the previous costumes, but I think it’s strange that the Peacekeepers look completely different than the ones in the previous film, but I guess that’s what happens when a director of a film changes.

  12.

So they are showing the reapings. This will be pretty interesting to see.

@iceymoon you are so spot on about what the morphlings are wearing! i also thought they look like the stereotypical junnkie from the 90s.
@DevTitanwood You´re right about the peacekeepers. I can understand they wanted to make them more menacing and stronger, but they should have tried to make the new uniforms look like they are an updated version of the old ones…if you think about it, police uniforms do evolve and change over time, but the changes are never that drastic, especially if you think that at the beggining of catching fire it´s only been 6 months since katniss and peeta won the games, how can they change so much in 6 months? What´s gonna happen with Mockingjay? new uniforms for that too? I know it´s not a big deal for a lot of people, but keeping things like that as consistent as possible help create a sense of unity and continuity in the movies

well, i’m glad to see they’re going to show at least some of the reapings– even if only for a second. i’ve always figured it would be some kind of montage of clips, and this seems to go with that idea.

i’m still not very fond of the new peacekeeper uniforms (they do look a bit like stormtroopers, but it’s not that what bothers me, it’s more the added armor bulk and tight pants, it just doesn’t look like realistic armor to me– it looks like one of those gag, inflatable muscle-man costumes), but again, i can live with it. i hope it’ll look a little less fake in the actual movie.

i do like the look they gave the morphlings, though. yes, it’s very reminiscent of 90′s punk, but i think it fits the idea of the morphlings not just because they’re junkies (because the punk lifestyle doesn’t necessarily mean you use drugs, obviously), but because they really should look the complete opposite of capitol people, but not because of poverty (they’re victors, after all) but simply because they are trying their hardest to get away from everything the games represent, as it causes them pain. i could see the punk clothes being a representation of them trying to completely differentiate themselves from the capitol.

*squints* is megan hayes in the pics somewhere? i’d love to see if they’re going with the same theme in her case, but i can’t find her anywhere. it could be that they’re just going with the punk look for justin hix because he’s younger (or at least he looks younger, i’m not sure). and admittedly, it fits him.

I wonder why some of you are criticizing the outfits for the peacekeepers, especially when it comes to looks.

    From Katniss’ description:
    ‘white Peacekeeper uniforms’
So yeah, they couldn’t make them black or grey, cause then everyone would revolt about how they are not like in the book.

And about them looking futuristic… well DUH!

If they are not sturdy its because we’re talking about the future, this is the Capitol, the same place that has the technology to make a table appear from the ground or create mutations they can somehow control remotely.

If we go technical about it, you may just say it could be nanotechnology applied to their uniforms material.

I agree, they had to keep them white because in the book they ARE white. They’re also probably white because they’re PEACE keepers. :)

wtf is the directer doing? hes pure changing everything , hes taking parts out then putting his own ideas in?? wish garry ross was still directing the movies, they would be so better!!
and why is he changing the new peacekeepers uniform ? the new onces look really bad and ugly the old uniforms were better. Then why bring in snows grandaughte?she had nothing to do with catching fire??? she only gets brought up in mockingjay?

The reapings are gonna be filmed then, interesting. I agree with some people that they are gonna show all of them in a capitol montage of clips. Im just wondering, since they have no names, how are they gonna reap them, they are gonna create names for the characters or simply showing them in the stage and say the district they are from?

@gufu They would have to change the uniforms because the old ones were just a shirt and pants. As you can see they had no protection when the District 11 citizen was beating up a peacekeeper in the first movie.

@Gufgu It’s not just you- it’s a lot of people- but I don’t like when fans group every single thing they do not like into being the director’s fault. Francis is not in charge of everything in this production. Yes, he’s a big part of it, but he doesn’t control every little detail. Trish Summerville is the new costume designer, so I think that with this change, it was expected there’d be somethings different. Trish also has a more edgy style, so I can see that playing a part in this.
Also– what have you seen that makes you think that Francis is changing “everything”? So far, he seems to be doing a great job at pleasing book fans. And a director isn’t supposed to take everything from the book– they are SUPPOSED to add their own spin on it. We haven’t seen any footage from Catching Fire so we can’t say that Gary’s would be better. We just don’t know.

Also– Snow’s granddaughter could very well be considered a rumor. It was on IMDB, where anyone with a Pro account can edit the information. If I had an account, I could edit it, add in Annie, and make everyone go crazy (haha, funny that I say that with Annie).

Guys no matter what how much you keep saying you dont like the new stuff, cast, etc. They are not going to change it. Just accept the changes because they are not going to change it.

    meh. consistency.

@DevTitanwood; I believe they are filming at Peachtree-Dekalb Airport. That is why the airplanes are in the background. I have been there before and the surroundings look real familiar. As for the uniforms, I agree. I do not like them, but what are you going to do?

What I’m wondering is, which is the escort and why isn’t he/she super visible as a blaze of color? I hope none of those drabbly-dressed persons are supposed to be the escort!

Love getting to see the Reapingings for other districts, though.

btw snowsgrandaughter has been on touns of hunger game websites?! and well sorry to you Savanah but i do have stuff i want to share about catching fire1 sorry that i liked garry roos’es movies better than the new director . but i would say they should have to old costume designer BUT ive never heard of the new one so i dont knw what they are going to do. and the new peacekeepers uniforms do look very stupid, the costume designer has made them look like people from startrek!!!

Why not have Snow’s granddaughter? We know she exists, what does it matter if she’s mentioned in CF or in MJ? It makes sense for her to be in a scene with her grandfather. It’s not like she’ll be an important character taking screentime, she might not even have any lines and probably just appears in a group scene to add to Snow’s characterization.
