Enter Mockingjay.net’s 2012 Halloween Contests
Halloween is just around the corner and the staff of Mockingjay.net is happy to announce our two annual contests to get you into the spirit of the spooky season! The folks over at HollywoodVideo.com (follow them at @newhvideo) were nice enough to sponsor many of this year’s prizes!
Mockingjay.net’s 2nd Annual Hunger Games Pumpkin Carving Contest
Get your carving tools out and get ready to carve a pumpkin Hunger Games style!
To enter, carve a Hunger Games themed pumpkin and send us a photo of it to contests@mockingjay.net. Please read the rules carefully.
Rules
- Pumpkin entries must have a CLEAR Hunger Games theme.
- Acceptable types of carvings: pumpkin, watermelon, foam pumpkin.
- Entry must have been carved in October 2012.
- Required photos: Pumpkin lit in the dark and verification photo. Verification photos can include the pumpkin with a newspaper with the date clearly showing, the pumpkin next to your computer with the Mockingjay.net contest post up, or a photo of yourself with the pumpkin. Mockingjay.net will NOT post photos of people.
- Please include a description of your pumpkin’s Hunger Games theme.
- DEADLINE: Entries must be submitted by October 31, 2012 at midnight ET.
- This contest is open worldwide.
Tips for Good Pumpkin Photos
- Do not use flash.
- Keep camera very still, such as on a tripod or propped up on something.
- Do not submit very small images as this can hurt the amount of points you are awarded by judges. If we can’t see it, we can’t judge very well!

Mockingjay.net’s 4th Annual Hunger Games Costume Contest
If you’ve got a great Hunger Games inspired costume, enter it in our 2012 costume contest by sending photos in to contests@mockingjay.net. Please read the rules carefully.
Rules
- Costume entries must have a CLEAR Hunger Games theme.
- Costumes must have been made or assembled by you.
- Required photos: You must submit one photo of yourself wearing your costume in 2012. Please also submit a separate verification photo. This can be a photo of you holding a piece of paper that says “Mockingjay.net 2012″ or you holding a recent newspaper up.
- Please include a description of your costume’s Hunger Games theme.
- DEADLINE: Entries must be submitted by October 31, 2012 at midnight ET.
- This contest is open worldwide.

Lol I was Effie last year! Went full out! Even bought some of the prop replicas Havana.
Can you also enter multiple times with other costumes? (different characters)
I was Katniss last year…my friends and I are going to be toddlers and tiaras this year!!

Can you send more than one picture of the same costume?
Im going to enter. I already have a hg costume for halloween so might as well enter it!
@Ayasa – You can only win once with a single costume, so please take a snap of you in your best costume to enter.
@Bella – We are just looking for one photo of you wearing your costume, but if there is something we can’t see in the photo (e.g. something on your back) then please include that shot as well.

So I was a complete dork and when I took my pictures, my verification photo said “Hunger Games Halloween Competition 2012″ instead of “Mockingjay.net 2012″ – do I need to take new pictures to be qualified? Let me know ASAP, and thank you again for running this contest!

LOL I kinda dorked out too and took a verification picture AFTER I took off my costume D8. I think I misintepreted the instructions. The verification photo is taking in the same place as the other shots though and you REALLY can’t miss my hair xD. It’s the same in and out of costume. Should I take another verification shot WITH my costume on :3? I submitted a picture of me as Rue in her Training Uniform xD. Thanks again for running this contest. I’m super excited!

Me and my friends had intended to make a parody, and I was wear both costumes in it.
