Jeffrey Wright Hopes to Surpass Expectations
ABC News got a chance to sit down with Jeffrey Wright (Beetee) at an event for Reel Works and asked him a bit about his role in ‘Catching Fire’.
“It’s really comforting,” Wright said about being a part of the cultural phenomenon. “When you make a movie, you hope that you will surpass peoples’ expectations.”
Wright plays Beetee in the second installment, “Catching Fire,” which is currently filming.
“[He] is one of the previous victors from the games,” Wright said. “He comes back in the 75th anniversary games, the Quarter Quell as it’s called and he participates again. But this time the games are used as a foil to advance other ideas.”

I think he’s going to be great as Beetee. I love that they have gone so against type when casting a character who is essentially a nerd.
I literally cannot WAIT to see him as Beetee in CF. Jeffrey Wright is absolutely AMAZING.

just listening to him talk, he’s so eloquent and it’s obvious he’s very intelligent. kind of reminds me of donald sutherland, these actors that are so smart they really get into what makes their characters tick and that’s why they always turn out great performances. i couldn’t be happier that they chose jeffrey wright for beetee, he’s just what the character deserves.
and well, at least now we know how beetee’s name is pronounced! i always figured it would be something like “bee-tee”– i’ve always felt the name was derived from “TV,” so the “T” sound is always noticeable. not sure if that’s what suzanne collins was thinking of when she came up with it, but that’s the way it’s always been in my head. glad to have it confirmed.
