The Hunger Games has been nominated in two categories at the British Academy Children’s Awards. The film has been nominated for Best Feature Film (voted for by the academy) and the BAFTA Kid’s Vote for Best Feature Film. Excerpts from the BAFTA press release:

The four films nominated in the Feature Film category this year include BAFTA Fellow
Martin Scorsese’s Hugo and Disney’s The Muppets. The Hunger Games and Arthur
Christmas
, the two other films competing for the Award, also appear in the BAFTA Kids’
Vote shortlist.

The BAFTA Kids’ Vote opens for voting today: 7-14 year olds will have their say across a
whole range of entertainment media in a nationwide poll to choose their favourite film,
television programme, website and video game. The shortlist in each category is
incredibly strong this year, with films including The Hunger Games, Marvel Avengers
Assemble, Ice Age 4: Continental Drift
and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 all going head-to-head in the Feature Film category.

You can vote for The Hunger Games for the BAFTA Kid’s Vote here. Voting closes on Friday 23rd November at 18.00 and the ceremony will take place on Sunday November 25th. You can see all of the nominations for the 2012 British Academy Children’s Awards over at BAFTA. Thanks to HungerGamesNetwork.

that’s… unexpected, considering the age range for the voters and the rating of the film just barely overlap. O_o but oh well, best of luck to the movie, particularly in the category that’s chosen by the academy. i don’t see much competition from the muppets or arthur christmas, but hugo, which was already a best picture contender at the oscars, is definitely the one to beat.

Yay! Go Hunger Games! If only I was still young enough to vote. I think I did just manage to sneekily vote a few years ago even though I was over 14, but I think I did that by signing in as my brother and then voting for things my brother wasn’t interested in. The problem is, it’s now The Hunger Games and Hugo up against each other and I absolutely love both of those films! :/

Dont’ care about the rated “childrens”
British Academy of Film and Television Arts is considered the UK equivalent of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences — and the annual BAFTA awards are compared to the British equivalent of the Academy Awards here in the U.S.
    It’s a BAFTA guys!!! :) It’s very prestigious!!! So, it’s ok for me ^^

I must admit, this is not a topic that I am usually interested in reading about, but once I began reading, I thought it to be a really interesting read.

Hey, I found your own website as a result of Bing while looking for first aid for a heart attack and your post seems quite helpful for me. With regards, Elene.
