Maiara Walsh to Play Kantmiss Evershot in Hunger Games Spoof ‘The Starving Games’

‘The Hunger Games’ already has more than its fair share of parody books and short films out there, but Hollywood Reporter is saying that now there’s going to be a full length feature film parody called ‘The Starving Games’ starring Maiara Walsh.

Spoofmeisters Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, the duo behind Date Movie, Meet the Spartans and Vampires Suck, wrote the script and are directing the parody. The script pokes fun of not just the Suzanne Collins book series but also The Avengers, Sherlock Holmes and the finale of the Harry Potter franchise.

Shooting begins this week in New Orleans.

So what do you guys think? Will it be funny? Incredibly stupid? Both? I haven’t seen any of the other parody movies, so I don’t know if they’re actually any good.

Those movies are usually dumb, but they can be funny.

I bet it’s going to be really stupid. Just the clips I’ve seen of their others movies aren’t even funny or clever spoofs, ugh.

You know you have a hit on your hands when you get spoofed.

How can you make fun of something like Rue’s death, the Hunger Games to me is a real work of art where films are concerned, and besides it’s just another person trying to make money off of something that they haven’t even created, the Hunger Games was one of the best movies I’ve ever seen, these spoof movies need to stop being leachs.

haha don’t get your panties in a bunch people. I own the parody Vampires Suck and I watch it whenever I want to get a good laugh. Everyone to their own opinion but I think it would be a little too much if people get upset because a parody will be made.

    I agree with Daniela.

Haven’t seen the other two but Date Movie was awful, not funny at all. Didn’t even chuckle once during the whole thing.

That said, I don’t care about things being parodied at all. More power to em if they can write a funny spoof, but a lot of times those spoof movies are very disappointing.

most of their movies i haven’t found funny at all. the only one i actually liked was epic movie (the narnia jokes were my favorites), but i doubt i’ll even bother going to see this one. they’ve sort of lost their appeal by now, i think.

meanwhile, i’m amazed at how different maiara walsh looks from when she was in her disney days. i think she’s a fine choice for katniss, even for a parody.

if its like any of the other prepare for a sensational piece of crap that gives you a few laughs if you have a really bad sense of humor.
bad movies for actors and their acting is bad in them.

I thought ashley tisdale was going to play katniss

I don’t understand why they have to do this. It’s just a way to make money off of something and honestly, I feel like anyone who really loves these books and the story isn’t going to go see it. I mean, why would you want to see pivotal emotional scenes be ridiculed? Or as they would call it, “making fun.” Ugh. It’s just stupid to me.

The Starving Games? I guess it’s fitting since Maiara Walsh is like 80 pounds soaking wet.

Twilight is parody-material. The Hunger Games is NOT. I don’t think it will be very good, to be honest. I think Vampires Suck was funny, but only because Twilight is not as “high-stakes” as THG. The Hunger Games is not silly or goofy. It is actually quite a dark subject.

If it’s anything like vampires suck epic movie or disaster movie then yes it will suck the only one I thought was good and funny was meet the Spartans the rest have very poor jokes but I will watch it and watch they are gonna cast a weak ugly slow Peeta and that is not at all how Peeta is.

vampires suck was a really stupid movie, i think parts of thg are to serious to be making fun of but we’ll see ….

    Brandon

I would just see what they’re going to do with it.

Bleh. Never liked parody movies—and I wonder how they will do little Rue’s death? Anyone’s death, even. How will people react with it showing kids being slaughtered for “humor”? Besides, Meet The Spartans and Vampires Suck are horrible.

No parody should be listed as a movie. And besides, isn’t Ashley Tisdale playing a “version” of Katniss in a Scary Movie movie? I remember that Maria Walsh was one Disney (a big fat “was”) and I swear she was Bella in a Twilight YouTube parody.

Those movies are so horrendusly stupid, but I tend to get a few laughs out of them. Definitely goi to see this one

  22.

I won’t see it in theaters. Maybe on DVD. Typically crude humor. And making fun of child death seems a little strange to me. But we’ll see. If it doesn’t look offensive, I may see it. The thing about THG that makes it different from Twilight, though, is that it actually has widespread moral, political and social implications, so they’re going to have to tread lightly. Or they should, anyway. Like everybody else, I’m just going to see what they do with it.

    Ceraine

Okay, I will permit it. But if they cross their limits, they are going to face their own Hunger Games….

    Ash

I saw Vampires Suck…it wasn’t good. It was just kinda dumb humor, which I can appreciate, but I just didn’t care for it. I’ll probably watch this movie just to see what it’s like, but my hopes aren’t high.

    baby-boi

THG is too sensitive for a parody movie imo

    Alex

Lol these movies have sucked since Epic Movie came out. Not gonna go see it.

@ren- no, that’s the new scary movie

    Addy

Ok the hunger games doesn’t seem to me like it should be a topic to laugh about… Kids killing other kids? Making fun of that isn’t right in my mind

I loved Vampores Suck, and incorporating The Avengers is genius, I’m just imagining Katniss and Hawkeye having a fight over the archery equipment ahhh cant wait! But if they so much as make an offensive comment towards Captain America, I will avenge them! Just kidding, I actually have a sense of humor.

We walked out of Date Movie after 15 minutes. It was so stupid it was actually painful to watch. Haven’t seen any of the others.

This is going to be stupid. To make fun off successful series of books like Harry Potter and The Hunger Games? Its hardly going to be clever, witty or funny. So your telling me they are going to make fun of all the tragic deaths? There are just trying to make money off successful things, but no one will go see it.

I hate these movies! It’s not that I don’t like parodies but these are always incredibly stupid and very gross at times. Really dumb. But what can ya do?

  34.
    Cay

I saw Vampires Suck and it was literally the stupidest movie I’ve ever seen in my life! I’m going to see this movie, but I’m not going to like it!

People need to stop taking things so seriously, I for one look forward to it, at least to see how it is.
