Variety reports Lionsgate has recently made public its earnings for the second quarter of 2012, and the numbers are much higher in comparison to the same period in 2011, which marked a net loss for the company. This increase in revenue goes above and beyond Wall Street analysts’ predictions, and was partly driven by the success of the Hunger Games DVD/Blu-ray sales, among other factors.

Revenues surged 97% to $707 million on strong homevideo revenues from “The Hunger Games” and domestic box office from pics including “The Expendables 2,” “The Possession” and “Step Up Revolution.”

What do you think these higher earnings might mean for the rest of the movies in the franchise? You can read the full story at Variety.com.
