Hunger Games Fireside Chat #84: “Fireside Recs: The Matched Trilogy”

Tonight’s special Tuesday episode of the Hunger Games Fireside Chat will go live at 10pm EST. Topics for tonight will include:
- We’ll kick things off by touching on an interesting bit of news that broke last week: The new X-Men movie, which was due to start filming in January, has now pushed production back to April. Will this give Catching Fire some more breathing room? Does this mean that Gary Ross could have directed Catching Fire? Will this interfere with the filming of the Mockingjay movies?
- We’ll also weigh in on a recent article published by io9.com: “Could The Hunger Games Get Published Today?”
- Now for an exciting announcement! We’re launching a new, recurring segment on the show called Fireside Recs. Every month-ish, we’ll feature a book, series of books, or movie that Hunger Games fans like YOU are sure to enjoy. Our first pick, as you could probably tell by the title of this episode, is the Matched trilogy by Ally Condie. The last book in the trilogy — Reached — was just published, so we thought it would make a fitting inaugural choice. Our promo image this week features the cover artwork for Reached.
You can listen live here.

I’m not really a hater and I don’t know how Fracis Lawrence’s movie is going to turn out, but all the Gary-Ross-could-have-done-it comments are starting to be annoying. Sure, he did a nice job on the first one and he really did love the series, but he moved on to other projects. I honestly believe that with these also amazing screenwritters and Francis Lawrence CF will turn out just fine. I just hope people would stop fussing arround Gary Ross and concentrate on what we have: 2 Oscar-Winning screenwritters, a decent Director and a splendid and totally amazing cast.
i agree with mtX I also think that Francis will do a better job at making CF
I think Francis L will do a good Job on CF and MJ 1 and 2. They would not have asked him to do the next two if he was not doing well on CF right? My hope is that it will be great. Now after listening to the POD cast of Matched Trilogy somewhat I have to say that the first book in the series is pretty good. She does not have the same voice that paints such great scenes in ones minds eye like S. Collins does. Even like Roth in Divergent. I could see it made into a pretty good movie. The landscapes of Utah are pretty amazing. Filming in like places could be really cool.
we will probably be entertained for years to come with dystopian YA books made into movies. I think its better for SyFi nuts like me who don’t care much for blood sucking movies.
