More Pictures of Catching Fire Set at the Marriott Marquis Hotel

Wow these are so cool! It looks like something for a Capitol scene.

Oh wow I live in Atlanta, I was just (well not just it was a month and a half ago) went to that hotel for an Anime convention! It’s pretty big, has a bunch of lecture halls; lots of space for filming and set design.

It’s pretty cool, they keep on filming at places that I’ve been to or know where they’re at!

Looking the photos it’s got to be a scene In the capital. Perhaps it’s while their at the tribute building. During the victors tour or after they get to the capital for the quarter quell.

As I live in Georgia and have friends who live in Atlanta, it’ll be fun to see if we recognize any locations featured in the movie.

Maybe it is that night where president snow announces that past winners of the hunger games are going to go back in.???? Or the interviews…

it could be the interviews. Maybe the interviews are taking place at the bottom in the center and the citizens are watching the interviews from the sides of the building (the circle thingies)

That’s a hotel? It looks huge and really fancy. Definitely a lot of architectural time went into it. There is probably a lot they could film there. They could even film random little things in the individual rooms. You don’t even have to look at the big things. A lot could be filmed there.

I was thinking victory party too but they already filmed those scenes. they had pics of Snow’s mansion and some of the food. They also already filmed the announcement of the quell too. I’m thinking maybe interviews.

Interviews have been filmed at Georgia International Congress Center. If I had to guess, they are using the suites from the hotel for tribute rooms. The suites are lovely there. I’ve stayed there for a convention. Snow’s party was at the Swan House. I doubt they had floating musicians. Not everything will be identical to the book. I’m sure it was spectacular, though.

All of the tributes have been staying at the hotel, so it’s most likely being used for certain Capitol scenes.

So this is my first time commenting, I’ve been following this site for a year now but I’ve just been a silent lurker, decided maybe i should stop XD.

These pictures look amazing! To me it looks like this place would be used for the Victors Party, it just looks so grand.

Not scenes for the Victors Party-these scenes were filmed at Swan House in Early October. They will have musicians in that scene-my nephew was one of these musicians and positive that the entire party was filmed there.
As for announcing The Quell, this was one of the first scenes they showed being filmed in September and it was Snow outside on Capitol building balcony.
These hotel photos look like they might be used to show the Capitol’s game control room(like they showed Seneca crane controlling the games in THG)–

Consider that you don’t know this is a hotel and the entrance is at the bottom. Picture the entrance to this space at the top of the building and the building sunken into the ground. This, my friends, is District 13.

Well, we know for sure that these are some scenes not involving either Katniss and Peeta, since Jennifer and Josh are off this week promoting their new movies on talk shows. So, Game control room is a strong possibility, but if Woody is there as reported earlier, maybe those are scenes of Haymitch with Plutarch in Capitol. District 13 is another, distinct possibility, if we get some scene with Haymitch and others (but not Katniss) near the end.

I have no clue what this is but with the modernness it could be anything …. beauuutiful.

So exciting! Can’t wait to see what it’s for. Is it sad that all I can think about is that One Direction stayed at that hotel? lol

@Alyssa – Not sad. It is so cool that so many famous people are staying at that hotel.

Ben-I think u might have a great thought about these scenes possibly being the living quarters of District 13.

I don’t think this could be D13 – an earlier photo of the set showed uniformed Peacekeepers on the balconies.

The Peacekeepers they showed were in different outfits than regular Peacekeepers. Remember the allegorical nature of the series, that District 13 is a microcasm of the Capitol, equally unjust and dictatorial, but on a smaller scale.

Hi guys! Glad you like the pics. Thought I would add a few things that I saw but didn’t manage to get in a picture – 1. The door leads to a bank of elevators. I talked to a security guard briefly and he told me that they had done about five takes of “the leads and Woody Harrelson” (as he phrased it) getting into the elevator. Unfortunately, I assumed at the time that he meant Katniss and Peeta rather than Katniss and Gale and didn’t think to question him further. 2) If you look at the daylight picture of the room with the curved glass wall (3rd row left) the window appears to be stained glass, which may be relevant to the District 13 vs. Capital discussion. 3) On Thursday, there were many Peacekeepers with thin tan raincoats covering their costumes. (This was very amusing in the lobby, but at this hotel, the staff are used to that kind of thing!) I also saw three male extras wearing what appeared brown leather raincoats, one of which was getting sort of cadaverous eye makeup (hard to describe, NOT zombie, more goth-like). I haven’t had a chance to check the book and movie to try to match these up, given that it’s possible that the brown leather raincoat is not the real costume.

Is that too early for District 13 to come up?

@Carency: I’m not sure what you mean. If they’re staying true to the book, why would Katniss and Gale be getting into an elevator with Haymitch? Unless the ending scenes are being rewritten, which I really hope is not the case.

(BTW I don’t think that Gale/Liam is a “lead”. But I guess the people who market the movies may have other ideas since he’s referred to such in articles and such.)

And isn’t Jennifer off doing interviews and talk shows this week rather than shooting? I thought neither she nor Josh were shooting the movie right now.

@Ivana I was at the hotel from 4 PM 11/11 through noon 11/15. The set was active on Monday 11/12 and Thursday 11/15. The sign on the 10th floor said they would be using the floor 10/25 through 11/21, but that would include set breakdown, I assume. I left before anything got started on Thursday, but I didn’t see anything that would preclude Thursday’s shoot from having been a second unit shoot. The security guard did not specify which day the elevator scene was shot. As for exactly where the elevator shot goes, IDK, secondhand information and I am not the director, obvs. I personally would only refer to Gale as a lead for Mockingjay, just brought it up because I didn’t want to declare that it couldn’t be District 13 and then be wrong because I misinterpreted who the guard meant.

listen i dont want to be a wet blanket but i think people are being close minded and thinking they know everything. the facts are that it very well COULD be the inside of the Victory Party. The swan thing or place could have only filmed the entrance or outside and this is meant to be the spectacular inside. they do shot parts here and parts there at dif times u know- and maybe Swan place was only filmed for outside of the victory party. infact – I think it actually said “OUTSIDE THE VICTORS PARTY AT THE MANSION” so this actually very well could be the inside!

If you look at the pics from the D6 Reaping scene, that really good view of a Peacekeeper costume? It looks no different from those two in the Marriott. What makes you think they’re different looking?
