Mockingjay Movie Night #4 – Pirates of the Carribean 4

It’s been a while since we’ve had a Mockingjay Movie Night, but we’ve finally nailed down a date for #4! We’ve chosen a movie starring Sam Claflin, who will be playing Finnick Odair in ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’. We’ll host the chatroom on December 8, 2012 at 7 PM Eastern. Here’s a brief summary of the movie:
Johnny Depp returns as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. A tale of truth, betrayal, youth, demise — and mermaids! When Jack crosses paths with a woman from his past (Penelope Cruz), he’s not sure if it’s love, or if she’s a ruthless con artist using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. Forced aboard the ship of the most feared pirate ever, Jack doesn’t know whom to fear more — Blackbeard (Ian McShane) or the woman from his past. Directed by Rob Marshall, it’s filled with eye-popping action, mystery and all-out wit. Complete with a bounty of bonus features, this is one thrilling journey you won’t want to end.
On Stranger Tides is rated PG-13. If you can’t find a copy to rent or borrow, the DVD is available for sale from Amazon for ~$13 or at Walmart. Come to our chat with your pirate speak at the ready!

Ugh. I had high hopes for Snow White. Oh well… Do we have to watch the previous ones? I don’t really remember them, watched them ages ago…
@Abel Toy Not really, POTC 4 does a really good job of standing on its own!
I agree TDouglas, #4 is good all by itself. You don’t have to see the other three to know what is going on. Though I do recomend them, cause Captain Jack is awesome
Yay the first movie I am actually allowed to watch! Can’t wait!
Yay! I just happened to purchase POTC 4 on dvd last week!
…and I may watch Snow White & The Huntsman too!
When exactly are we going to do a movie night with the actual movie this sight is based on? The Hunger Games?
Oooh, nice one… I really do love captain jack sparrow! Hehehe
woo, i can make this one!
can’t wait!
I watched that one today. It’s OK and really fun. I haven’t seen any of the previous ones, but the story was easy to follow. Depp, Rush and McShane were really good, as were Stephen Graham and Kevin McNally in supporting roles. Cruz was OK – I’m not a big fan of hers, but the story between her and Jack Sparrow was well done. There was also a funny cameo by Judi Dench, and it was nice to see Keith Richards as Jack’s dad. Sam and Astrid Berges-Frisbey were the non-funny/conventionally romantic couple. Sam played a classic good guy and romantic hero, not a terribly challenging role. I’m going to watch the UK mini series “White Heat” in which he apparently played a morally ambiguous character who’s supposed to be charming and seductive but also kind of a jerk, that should be more interesting.
@Ivana I highly recommend you watch White Heat. I loved it! It was an awesome mini series, it follows the lives of a group of friends throughout the years. I really liked Sam in his role. His character was fully fleshed, believable and flawed, but I couldn´t help but feel sorry for him, which is a wonderful thing, his performance was really touching, even though you kind of hate him, but that´s the whole point, when an actor makes you feel something, that speaks volumes of his talent.
Looking forward to this on the weekend! Hope to see lots of people in the chat
@Makayla Lerner – We planned on watching THG earlier but then a few bits and pieces got in the way, so it’s on the agenda for early next year
