Congratulations to Jen, her success is so well deserved, I saw Silver Linings Playbook today and just.. wow. There is most definitely a reason she is getting all these awards, she was utterly brilliant.

What was up with her dress? I saw this part of the awards show live, and it looked like her dress had ripped right above her knees (yikes!) …. or was the dress supposed to be like that?
I saw that too. If you look at the picture of her in her dress in the previous post, you can see her dress is layered. I guess when she lifted her dress up to walk, it lifted only the top layer, exposing her legs. She even looked a little embarassed. She still looked beautiful, even though she was sick.
So if you only wanted one layer you could just take the layers off or what? But yeah she did look a little bit embarassed.
from what i have seen about the event, her dress was designed that way. Apparently , the dress she is wearing was on a runway show recently and it showed how the dress would look. -
How many nominations and awards does Jennifer have? Since she first began acting?
The wikipedia article on Jennifer Lawrence has a list of her awards and nominations – it is both long and impressive. Her first award was Outstanding Performance from the Los Angles Film Festival for her role of Agnes in Lori Petti’s “Poker House” released in 2008. If you have not seen it it is a great performance well worth watching (although the movie itself is very sad). At the age of 16 Jennifer Lawrence was already an outstanding actress!
i think her acting is over rated, her acting isn’t as amazing as everyone claims it is, there are other actors who deserved it and she’s an okay actress not an amazing actress. I watched her in x men, winters bone, the silver linings playbook and of course THG but she didn’t blow me away she was okay. I don’t think she should have gotten a SAG award or been nominated for an Oscar.
It is hard to argue with an opinion given without any supporting evidence and whether we like someone’s acting is a mater of personal taste. However, whether someone is talented as an actor is somewhat more objective and there I disagree with you. Jennifer Lawrence has her flaws, but she has at least too characteristics that do make her an excellent film actress. The first is her ability to use her facial expressions, especially those amazing eyes, to give the viewers insight into what her characters feel or think. Many critics have noted this but to give you one example there is Peter Travers’ review of Winter’s Bone in the Rolling Stone “her performance is more than acting, it’s a gathering storm. Lawrence’s eyes are a road map to what’s tearing Ree apart”. The second is her command of body language to add an exclamation mark to a performance, for example Agnes’ hand flutter in the bathtub scene in “Poker House” or Tiffany’s nervous playing with her scarf while asking Pat to help her with the dance contest in SLP. These are film actor’s skills more than stage actor’s skills and it is not clear that Jennifer would be a great actor on stage. However, while I can understanding someone not liking Jennifer’s acting (after all that is a matter of taste) I cannot agree with someone who denies that she does have extraordinary talent.
Yeah… When she is recognized and lauded by critics and her peers (particularly Oscar nominated peers) for her acting skills, it’s really hard to argue that she’s overrated. It’s rare when an actor or actress can disappear into a character, but Jennifer has that talent.
I never said that I hated her acting I said I think her acting is okay she does have talent but to me she isn’t amazing she doesn’t blow me away as other actors have but yet they don’t get awards for their amazing acting why does jennifer get awards for being an okay actress? I’m just saying. Does she deserve some of those awards?Yes. But an Oscar nomation and wining a SAG award? No.

Did any body else see catching fires trailor because if some of these haters did they might have different feelings she is born with a gift! She is not to be underestimated because that is a very dangerous game to play with jenifer larwence fans. for all these haters Is it just me or do I smell jealousy going on here?
