Toby Jones Speaks Francis Lawrence, Catching Fire and Jennifer Lawrence
Toby Jones has been making his media rounds this awards season, and interviewers never miss a chance to ask him for a tidbit about his recent projects, among them The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. This week, Jones took a moment to speak with BANG Showbiz about the movie, in particular director Francis Lawrence:
“I would say that it’s got a different director with different sensibility. I think he’ll want to bring his own mark to it. It’s clichéd, but you want to respect the books that have been very successful but bring it on a bit.”
As for the film itself, he gave us some insight on the process of filming his scenes with Stanley Tucci, who plays Caesar Flickerman:
“Every now and then, they ask me to come in and improvise with Stanley Tucci for an afternoon. They fly me off to America, I improvise for an afternoon – it’s not the hardest, most taxing job. I’m very proud to be part of that because I think the books are tremendous.”
He also spoke about Jennifer Lawrence, with whom he’s worked in both the Hunger Games franchise and the upcoming film Serena, calling her “remarkable” and praising her for her confidence both off and on-screen.
