Mockingjay Movie Night #5 – X-Men: First Class
It’s time to kick off some more movie nights in 2013 and first up is Jennifer Lawrence’s flick X-Men: First Class. Come join us to celebrate Jen’s award season successes and hopefully bring her some luck before the Oscars 
We’ll host the chatroom on February 16, 2013 at 7 PM Eastern, so make sure you save the date!
Here’s a brief summary of the film:
Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were archenemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known. In the process, a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-MEN.
For those who are new (or just need a refresher), all you need to do is buy, rent or borrow the movie then head to Mockingjay.net just before 7 PM ET on the night to find a link to the chatroom so you can join in the fun.
Oh and before you ask – Mockingjay Movie Night #6 will see us watch some movie you might have heard of that will be celebrating its one-year anniversary…

That was the first time I saw Jen in anything, and I loved her. I thought Raven was the most interesting character in the movie other than Erik and Charles.
Absolutely agree, I can’t wait to see Raven’s return in Days of Future Past and I am yet to get tired of watching this movie.
Haha, this is the film that Jennifer has done that I like the least. Oh well.
haha, well, the thing with jennifer’s movies is that even people’s “least favorites” are still comparatively great.
This movie will never get old. I’ve seen it at least six times, and I could watch it six more times. Once again Jennifer delivers a great performance with an extremely relate able character. The others are just as amazing, this was the first thing I saw Michael Fassbender in and ever since then he became one of my favorite actors.
Ah, I can’t wait to watch movie #6 next month… that’ll be fun

Love this movie, but Jen was never the hook for me, James McCavoy and Michael Fassbender are just brilliant as Professor X and Magneto. Has movie night celebrated The Winters Bine yet.
This is the first Jen flick we’ve had up, we have watched two of Francis’ films (Constantine then I Am Legend), then Suckerpunch for Jena, then Pirates of the Caribbean 4 for Sam.
Winters Bone isn’t exactly family friendly, we try to stick to films that most of our readers could watch, but haven’t ruled out watching some of the higher rated films in future.
Oh sorry, I haven’t followed every movie night, and I don’t blame you for skipping Winters Bone, it is an excellent film though. I love X-men First Class, may be my favorite X-men, can’t wait for the sequel.
That’s okay! I’ve only seen snippets of Winter’s Bone, but it’s on my to-watch list.
I loved First Class too, especially after Last Stand was a disappointment (for me anyway), so I can’t wait to see what they come up with next. Plus Mystique I imagine will be so much more kick arse next time around too.
Am I the only who didnt like this movie as much? The other characters like Banshee and the ‘young X-men’ seemed kinda unnesecary to me.. But I did like Jen
