Jennifer Lawrence Confirms More “Catching Fire” Filming in Late February
As you know, Jennifer Lawrence attended the 85th Academy Awards Nominees Luncheon yesterday. While there, Access Hollywood took a moment to talk with her about a variety of topics including her recent illness, what she’ll be wearing to the Oscars, her Saturday Night Live monologue, and the awards season success for both herself and Silver Linings Playbook.
During the interview they also touched upon Catching Fire, and Jennifer revealed she’ll be flying back to Hawaii the day after the Oscars (February 25th) to get more filming done for the movie.
Seems like those nine more days of filming in March are more than confirmed!

So she’ll probably have to dye her hair dark again, so it will be dark for the oscars? I mean, its gorgeous dark but I think she prefers it blonde.
I think she said the day after the oscars so no she’ll still have the same colour that she does in this interview
Am I the only one who thought it was weird that she said “Thank you Summit” instead of “Thank you Lionsgate”? Are they basically synonymous now, or did Jen misspeak? I just hope she’s not in trouble with Lionsgate.
i did think it sounded weird, but considering she was involved with Lionsgate way before Summit ever came into the picture.. i don’t think it would be more automatic for her to say Lionsgate rather than Summit, so i doubt she misspoke. perhaps it was just someone from Summit that made this particular arrangement (either when her flight would be, or when the reshoots would be)?

The president of Summit sat with her at the Oscar Luncheon so maybe that’s why she thanked them instead of Lionsgate. It’s still weird though considering Lionsgate bought Summit and not the other way around.
Lionsgate and summit merged and they both worked on catching fire together, so that’s probably why.
I’m not going to make friends with what I’ll write now but I thought about something. End of December, everybody ( Josh, Sam (even in that teen vogue video ) Jennifer herself told us the filming was done and it had been very exhausting because they had a short time to film ( because of Jennifer next project X men ). So the filming was done and over. Then we got at almost the same time the news the X men filming was pushed away and they need to reshoot some scene due to technical issue. Everybody assumed it was for special effects and the actors won’t be back. Then end of Jannuary, there was a reshoot done so they could have real snow instead of fake snow; (Probably )
But now , Jennifer is saying something entirely different. She is telling the filming was done and over ( like the actors said previously ) but they had been in a break so she can promote herself for the oscar. I think it’ s so strange that new version.
What if in truth, the filming was rushed and some scene really not good enough at the end because she wasn’t 100% in it. I don’t want to be mean but at the same time of the filming, she was also sometimes OUT for the happiness therapy promotion and got herself ready for the Oscar buzz. This + the fact they had to go fast to film equals / Some scene weren’t really good. Then X men were delayed and they ” forced” Jennifer to go back filming again ( not a break but indeed a reshoot in Hawai. and I Think it’s a bit harsh from liongaste to “force ” her to go back the 25th. She isn’t even allow to have a rest after a party time to celebrate her win. It’s like, you pissed us off, now you ‘ll got your oscar but next day get ready filming girl. No rest after party for you. Sound a bit harsh to not even allow her a day to rest and celebrate after the Oscar.
Maybe the Summit people had been nicer about it than the liongates ones? So she thank summit and she is a bit pissed about liongates because seriously go back the next day after the oscar is harsh . But well, she is allow to say they filming was on break now to not hurt her. Because End of December everybody confirmed the filming was over.
re-shoots aren’t really a rare thing when it comes to hollywood films, especially blockbusters. probably once the x-men filming was pushed back and the pressure from FOX was off, they saw the opportunity to get more footage and they took it. it doesn’t really tell us anything about whether what they already filmed is good or bad.
besides, jennifer had already mentioned about a month ago that the shoot was taking a “break” for awards season and that they’d go back to filming sometime in march. we just weren’t sure if this was a fact or if she had just misspoken or been misinformed. now that she’s given us an actual date, we know what she previously said was actually true.
as for lionsgate (which, really, is basically the same as summit at this point) being harsh on her… i doubt this has anything to do with jennifer, honestly. if anything, they’re being nice by giving her a break for awards season. they COULD have just filmed straight through it (IIRC, meryl streep wasn’t at the golden globes because she was filming a movie, for example). but regardless, they need to get all their footage ready as soon as possible, simply because post-production takes a long time and catching fire is especially SFX-heavy.
Josh has his dark hair now too. I guess it’s gonna be more tricky to give him the same blond than before if he as to reshoot? Same for Jennifer, but I guess it’s easier to dye her hair back in brunette than the other way?

i don’t know where the idea that some scenes had technical issues came from (though it’s still very possible that’s what happened, but i don’t believe it’s been confirmed by any reliable sources). what we know is: jennifer said about a month ago that filming for CF was on a break and that they’d be back “to finish principal photography” in march. we just didn’t know at the time whether that was a fact or if she had just misspoken/been misinformed. now we know they definitely ARE coming back to filming. we don’t know whether that’s for reshoots or if it was planned or what was the reason for this decision, but they will definitely be filming SOMETHING in hawaii right after the oscars.
@Carla; The source was the journalist Russ Bowen. He announced it on his twitter the 10th january and he was the first to talk about reshoots at a time where we didn’t even know yet about the X men filming delay. So everybody assumes the actors won’t be back . Especially Jennifer lawrence. Everybody thought it was reshoots for specials effets at the time. Nobody heard about a break during the filming. Nobody said nothing about the actors and filming needed a break to let go jennifer to promote herself.
I forgot to add. So russ bowen on his twitter annoucned the reshoot the 10th Jannuary ( go see his twitter the tweet is still there ) and jennifer only said the 21th, “We’re kind of on a little break,” she said. “We’ll go back and finish principal photography in March sometime I think.”
So why NOBODY talked about that break before ? Everybody acted like the filming was done and over until that journalist ‘s tweet and then it changed to ” oh yeah we are not really done filming by the way….”
argh why can’t we edit the post? Well to be done with the topic. I wonder how the cast can ignore they are on a break…at the end of december and just not tell instead of behaving ” the filming is done it was very tiring ” etc
