Jennifer Lawrence Attends the BAFTAs

Jennifer Lawrence was in attendance at this year’s EE British Academy Film Awards at the Royal Opera House in London. Despite being nominated for Best Actress for her performance in Silver Linings Playbook, Jennnifer ultimately lost out to Emmanuelle Riva (Amour). The actress still looked stunning on the red carpet and continued a tradition which began last year with Brad Pitt and blew a kiss down the lens at the beginning of the show. Also for any British fans watching, it was a fun night with host Stephen Fry dishing out a few Hunger Games references throughout (Stephen Fry referencing The Hunger Games? I think I’m in heaven!). Jennifer also presented the award for Best Supporting Actor. We will update with better videos if they become available. More images can be seen at Zimbio.

Philip Seymour Hoffman was also nominated for The Master but the Best Supporting Actor BAFTA mask was picked up by Christoph Waltz for Django Unchained.

I watched the show. As a French I was very happy for Emmanuelle Riva. But I felt very uneasy when they showed Jennifer Lawrence and David’ O Russel ‘s reaction to Riva ‘s win. David O Russel made a face who clearly show he is shocked and a bit digust and Jennifer Lawrence was so cold, blank without a smile ( and thank god the camera were only showing them from the side. Can’t imagine if had been shown straight to their faces.

Apart from that, it was a nice show. I was just disappointed by Jennifer so cold reaction and her director. I can understand they are disappointed but at least smile, even if it’s a fake one it’s better than the cold shoulder and the disgusted face.

I realize that technically everyone should smile and look pleasant and always have their game faces on for these events, but I can’t be mad at people who don’t quite pull it off. It has to be tough to have a camera on you while you’re living your private disappointment in public and in real time. It’s a lot to expect these folks not to show the very real and human emotions we all feel during difficult moments.

I guess, but they know the show is on tv and she knew how to play with the camera and blew the audience a kiss in a charming way… Was it so hard for her to put at least a smile? I’m not even talking about David O Russel ‘s reaction. It was so rude.
At least everybody else smiled ( even if Chastain looks seriously disappointed she smiled, even if it was more fake than genuine for sure. It’s just a fairplay thing. Well, I expected an entirely different reaction from them as she was in a such good mood before and blew the kiss etc… It felt so cold suddenly.

I hear you. But Jen is still quite young – in physical years as well as in Hollywood years – and as we know, she’s not in the habit of hiding her emotions. She may have really been expecting to win or she may just need to work harder on disguising negative emotions in public. The latter is, I think, a skill that will come with age so I’m willing to cut her some slack there.

What kind of hunger games reference was he saying? And about the whole Jennifer thing, I mean I think we should cut her some slack but she also has be ready to not win and that was a little disappointing about her reaction but she’s still new at this whole wining big awards thing so therefore I will cut her some slack. I don’t know if she deserved the award cause I have not watched the silver linings playbook (I have read the book and loved it and I just pre odered the movie on amazon).

I don’t know what you’re talking about, but Jennifer is not so cold in this interview and she smiles too! I think she’s a bit tired, and that’s not weird after so many award shows
