‘Catching Fire’ Victor Appears in The Walking Dead
For you Walking Dead fans out there, did you spot the Catching Fire victor in Sunday’s premiere? Here’s a promo for the episode:
I haven’t been able to find a clip with a good shot online, but if you watched, yes, that was E. Roger Mitchell (Chaff) in Woodbury! (and with a good amount of lines too!)

I recognized him too! Let’s hope he fares better than the majority of black male characters on that show… :p
Well, T-Dog lasted a long time – and he wasn’t even in the comics. And Tyreese will probably turn out to be one of the group’s leaders (if they follow the story line in the comics, which of course they might not). And Michonne is both black and a woman and she kicks ass. But sure, they are in the minority, but so are women. And children. And a whole lot of other racial groups – not just black people.
I didn’t recognise Chaff. Who was he?
It’s just that it seems like, with black male characters on the show, “there can be only one”. T-Dog didn’t get any development or storylines for two and a half seasons, he was basically just there, and then he was killed off just as they introduced Oscar. Oscar was more fleshed out in a few of episodes than T-Dog had been for 10 times that time, but then he gets killed off just as Tyrese is introduced. It’s starting to look like a pattern. It’s as if they’re thinking “we have to kill off someone since we don’t have the money for such a big cast – oh, let’s kill the black guy, we can do that since we have another black guy. We only need one at a time.”
Not a good sign for E. Roger Mitchell. Or maybe he’ll survive for some time because he’s not in the same group as Tyrese?
Well….T-Dog was never in the comics, so his character was never intended to last.
Daryl was never in the comics, and he’s certainly lasted (fortunately!) and gotten 10 times the development that T-Dog got. Merle was never in the comics and he’s lasted, too!
Remember the scene with everyone at the Woodbury front gates, asking to leave, just before they saw the walker? E. Roger Mitchell was there, I think he even had some dialogue with Andrea.
I did actually! He was one of the concerned citizens of Woodbury. He appeared on-screen a handful of times and had two-three lines throughout the episode.
Now we know how Chaff won his Hunger Games. By being a BAMF.
I SAW THAT!!!! I was watching, completely caught up in The Walking Dead, and when I saw him I thought wow that looks like E. Roger Mitchell…. I was going to post a comment here about it but I figured you guys would post it anyway. So Chaff is in Woodbury….
maybe Woodbury is actually in one of the Districts of Panem. xDD
I LOVE THIS SHOW!
wow kwl!!
Luckily he was one of the better extras of Woodbury, because gosh some of them were awful. Knowing TWD though, if he appears again his time could be short. Love TWD though.
