Capitol Couture Unveils First Capitol Portrait of Effie Trinket

Capitol Couture on Instagram has just unveiled the first Capitol Portrait, hinted at last week with a lone picture of a chair. The first portrait features Effie Trinket.

The only thing I disliked was the ‘old’/vintage photoshop treatment they are giving to them… its unnecessary and distracting from the actual beauty of the shot

. This looks sooooo high fashion especially the Jan Taminiau/Alexander McQueen heel-less shoes, The dress, the necklace, The gloves, The wig. Ya know I can’t help but think that this is actually what Judianna had in mind, but she just didnt have the budget for it. cause honestly though, I remember understanding what she was trying to do (making the Capitol high fashion instead of goofy/clowny) but it sometimes didnt translate very well on screen, therefor many people felt like it was a ‘toned down’ version of the book, while that was imo by no means her intention. The whole new site just screams decadence, and we love the Capitol for it 
It wasn’t the budget….it was Ross. The designer stated that she had a different vision for the costumes(similar to the book), but Ross had his own vision.

i love mostly everything about this picture, particularly her expression, it really makes her look like a china doll. one thing i’m quite puzzled over, though, is her hands… gloves? what kind of gloves are those? most awkward pair of gloves i’ve seen in my life… but i guess someone like effie wouldn’t care about discomfort and/or practicality so long as fashion ruled. eh, i really love the portrait either way.
i wonder why they’re going with this antique theme? if there’s some kind of reference there? (maybe because it’s an “anniversary” edition of the games…)
Yeah i know, its kind of weird seeing Effie with a really futuristic high fashion dress and outrageous makeup on a painting-like photograph that looks like its from 1850.

I loved Effie’s outfits in the first movie, but I really think that dress and those shoes are incredible. Even Elizabeth Banks said that the costumes are better in this movie.

Love the portrait but those gloves freak the crap out of me! Certainly wouldn’t want to meet her in a dark alley lol They do fit with the look though and I love her dress, it is very Effie-like and I would say the costume designer Trish has absolutely nailed the brief here.

Effie’s dresses from THG movie looked like dresses you MIGHT be able to find in a vintage clothing store if you browsed long enough. This dress, however, looks much more futuristic, and “avant-garde”; it DOES certainly fit in more with my mental images of how Capitolites would dress. I’m looking forward to seeing more portraits!
Effie’s picture looks fantastic!!! I am so amazed by the photography. It is just so amazing. I can not believe that it has almost been a year since the hunger games came out. My friend is so mad that a new director is filming catching fire. So far after looking at all of the pictures, I think that catching fire may turn out even better than the hunger games. I also LOVE Effie’s dress. It looks like pure capitol to me. Cesar looks great in his picture too!!!! My favorite character in all of the books is so Peeta. I mean, he is so HOT! If I ever get to meet him I’d probably throw up because I’d be so over joyed. But I have to admit, Liam Hemsworth is so hot too being Gale. Anyway, I am so glad that Effie looks even more like a capitol person. If I could choose a capitol name, it would be Tamala Brendivich. As you can see I’ve thought about this name ALOT. Plus even though Effie looks kinda “sick” in this picture, she is awesome. OMG! I can not believe there is Effie cupcake things!!! I love cupcakes more than anything. Speaking of cupcakes wouldn’t it be funny if Peeta made a cupcake in the games for Katniss? Ha Ha Ha!! Sometimes I am the funniest person in the universe. Have you ever heard that I took a picture with Suzanne Collins! Oh my god isn’t that so cool!!!!!! Anyway I have to leave now. If I could I’d write more. I love you guys bye!!

I hate this dress. It looks ridiculous but definitely something ostentatious I can see the Capitol embracing. At least we are finally getting teasers from Lionsgate!! Part of me is so happy to see Effie’s back lol. I missed the excitement.
I know I’m taking a chance expressing criticism of something the HG team put out. Will some teenager give me thumbs down or accuse me of being negative or not a true fan embracing the typical fandom attitude that doesn’t allow for differing opinions. Sorry maybe that’s too snarky. lol Honestly though this really is one of the only places on the Internet that allows for anything resembling intelligent discussion of the HG.

I think it’s pretty awesome that they’re pulling in actual high fashion for these shoots, I wonder who the stylist is that has these connections to borrow the clothes? I wonder where the men’s clothes and Katniss’ or (maybe) Johanna’s will be from?
Totally futuristic and hot-looking, especially with the color red! Her wig, her gloves, her shoes, matches with her dress and this outfit clearly tells about her being too ‘Fashion-Conscious’, and thus tells us about her character and even give us a hint of her role-playing in catching fire.
Can’t wait to see Caesar and the rest of the Crazy Capital Outfits!
